Chapter 444 - 444 422 Fate Ends

Chapter 444: Chapter 422 Fate Ends? Chapter 444: Chapter 422 Fate Ends? “I don’t have time anymore…” Bai Xiong said, he could feel the side effects of the potion beginning to stir within his body, like millions of bombs exploding in a chain reaction, rampaging through his intestines, stomach, heart, and head, waiting to destroy this shell of flesh.

“I know… but… when you were fighting, I simply… couldn’t make it over.” The Postman said haltingly, having been observing the earth-shattering scene from the distant peak of a snow-capped mountain just moments ago. He couldn’t imagine two people fighting to the extent that they could alter the landscape; even now, standing beside Bai Xiong, his legs were still a bit wobbly, and he only dared to look at the edge of the Meteorite Crater above, not once glancing at Bai Xiong. He was afraid that one look would send him into a panic and he’d forget to teleport away in fright.

“Alright, I don’t want to stay here,” the Postman said. “Your door is here, good luck.”

After he spoke, he left. Beside Bai Xiong, there remained two doors that appeared identical. Without any adornments, they looked as though hastily constructed, the only special feature being that they were large enough to allow the body of Prince Nienie Ti’er to pass through. Along the edges of the doors were several vertical braces that allowed the two doors to overlap face to face, with less than a meter of space between them.

Bai Xiong set the doors down one above the other on the ground, then looked up at the sky, feeling that overwhelming pressure descending from the heavens.

He knew that the giant was coming from high above, bearing the pressure of tens of thousands of meters of altitude, the damp rain from the clouds as he passed through them, with a force strong enough to smash through to the mantle below, and a mad pursuit of which he didn’t understand the meaning. Heading straight for him…

Bai Xiong found it laughable.

He attempted to curl the corners of his mouth upwards, just like Chen Xiao would do on a normal day, but the stiffness of his facial muscles made his smile awkward. The question he often pondered was what was the purpose of a person in this world? Was it to fulfill one’s emotions and desires, or simply to prove that one wasn’t dead? Being alive should have meaning, right? Happiness, anger, sorrow, fear, and desires: wanting to see, to listen, to smell, to taste, to touch, to have more. To pursue that sense of contentment that brings pleasure… to feel satisfied by tasting a variety of delicious foods, and thus eating all the world’s delicacies. Believing that having a lot of money would allow one to gain even more, and so working desperately to earn it. Feeling fulfilled by love, and therefore loving; finding the thrill of murder exciting, and thus becoming a homicidal maniac. These things were all so desirable to him, yet eternally out of reach.

Bai Xiong was always lonely, like standing alone in the middle of a bustling street, where crowds of people were constantly coming and going, but he couldn’t feel even a bit of joy…

Everything was just stagnant water.

He once tried to understand, to feel, but it was like a child watching adults refresh themselves with a gulp of cold beer, eager to taste this worldly delight, only to find it unbearably bitter after one sip. That kind of heartbreak, confusion, and the despair of having one’s hopes crumpled and thrown into the trash… In reality, he wanted to pursue those emotions, but… he did not have them.
