In my panties.
LOLA’S POV
"...The test is positive. Congratulations, ma’am! You’re two weeks pregnant," the doctor said cheerfully.
I stared at him, gobsmacked.
Oh. My. God.
I’m pregnant! Just like I hoped!
A huge smile spread across my face as the doctor handed me the test result.
"POSITIVE."
I clutched the paper like it was the most precious thing in the world, my heart hammering with joy.
"Thank you, doctor," I said, standing up quickly. "I'll be on my way now."
"Congratulations once again," he said, smiling warmly.
I nodded and left the office, barely able to contain my happiness. All that worry for nothing! My heart swelled with excitement as I walked through the hospital hallway, my arms folded.
Jolie.
How do I tell him? Should I?
No. Not yet. I need to do this right. Maybe surprise him.
Since he’ll be back late tonight, I decided to treat myself to some shopping. I got into my car, turned on my favorite song, and drove straight to the mall, humming along to the lyrics.
At the entrance, I grabbed a shopping cart and made a beeline for the vegetable section.
Now that I’m pregnant, I have to start watching what I eat.
I tossed three big cabbages into the cart. Then carrots, cucumbers, and some tomatoes. I paused, tapping my chin.
Do pregnant women crave ice cream?
You know what? Just in case.
I added a tub of chocolate ice cream to the cart. Then some yogurt and extra milk. This baby is going to be well-fed.

SELEN’S POV
I hesitated before stepping into Brian’s bedroom. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, scrolling through his phone, barely acknowledging my presence.
"Brian... can I talk to you?" I asked hesitantly.
He gave me a quick glance before looking away.
"I'm busy," he muttered.
I swallowed nervously. "I just wanted to ask about the two million dollars in my bank account. It’s… it’s gone."
Brian didn’t even flinch. "I took it. So?"
I felt my stomach drop.
"But that’s my money! And some of it belongs to my mom!" My voice trembled. "You should’ve told me before withdrawing everything!"
His head snapped up, eyes blazing.
"Are you saying I shouldn’t have touched your money?!" His voice thundered through the room.
I took a step back. "Brian, I didn’t mean—"
"F*** off!" he yelled and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
I stood there, stunned.
Unbelievable.

LOLA’S POV
I was driving home, still giddy about my pregnancy, when my phone rang.
Sam.
A nostalgic smile crossed my lips as I answered.
"What’s up, bestie?" I chirped, remembering all our good times together.@@novelbin@@
"L...Lola," his voice came weakly through the phone.
I instantly frowned. "Sam, are you okay? You sound awful!"
"It... hurts... but don't worry," he mumbled.
That was all I needed to hear.
"Sam, hold on. I’m coming over!" I rasped, immediately turning the car around.
The sky was getting darker, and thick clouds loomed above, but I didn't care. My best friend was sick, and he needed me.
I pressed down on the gas, speeding through the streets.

JOLIE’S POV
The meeting had ended, but I had another one scheduled later tonight. I leaned back in my chair, watching the news on my office TV.
The caster's voice was grave.
"A powerful storm is approaching the city tonight, bringing heavy rainfall. Residents are advised to stay indoors as roads may become dangerous."
I frowned.
Lola.
I grabbed my phone and quickly dialed her number.
No answer.
I tried again.
Still nothing.
Why isn’t she picking up?

LOLA’S POV
By the time I reached Sam’s street, the rain was coming down in sheets. My wipers struggled to keep up, making visibility nearly impossible.
I parked in front of his house and dashed out of the car, getting completely soaked in the process.
I pushed open the door and gasped.
Sam was on the floor, looking pale and weak.
"Sam!" I rushed to him, kneeling by his side. His skin was burning hot.
"Have you taken any medicine?" I asked frantically.
He gave a weak nod. "It’s not working... the pain won't stop."
I bit my lip, feeling a pang of sympathy.
"Have you eaten?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I can't stand."
I exhaled sharply and rushed to the kitchen.
Alright. Food. Warmth. He needs both.
I rummaged through his cupboards, grabbing some flour to make porridge. As I cooked, the wind howled outside, rattling the windows.
By the time I finished, the rain had turned into a full-blown storm. I turned on the TV just in time to hear the news update.
"There is a heavy storm tonight. Many roads are blocked and unsafe for travel. We urge everyone to remain indoors."
My heart dropped.
Oh no.
I turned to look at Sam, still lying weakly on the couch.
"I have to stay here tonight, don't I?" I muttered under my breath.
Jolie…
He's not going to like this.
At all.
I am so dead.

JOLIE’S POV
I paced in my office, phone in hand.
Still no answer.
The stor
m outside was getting worse, and I was getting restless. Lola was weak—her grandfather had told me that much. She shouldn’t be out in weather like this.
Where the hell was she?
I clenched my jaw and grabbed my car keys.
If she’s not picking up, I’ll find her myself.
What do you think?
