Chapter 369: Chapter 270 Great Sect Trade Fair
As they stepped through the White Jade Gate, the brightness within the building dimmed slightly as the embedded Bright Sun Stones along the wall cast a soft, warm light, illuminating the spacious expanse of the interior.
Following behind, Zhao Daojing was about to say something but saw that Zhao Sheng had already walked more than ten paces ahead.
She hurriedly followed after him.
The two arrived at the center of the building, facing a Floating Array inlaid into the ground.
This Floating Array, with a diameter of fifty feet, was branded with innumerable shining Spiritual Texts, emitting a faint spirit light all over.
A pale-faced youth dressed in a Star robe performed a salute and, in a clear and aloof voice, said, “Both seniors are honored. You must be aware of the rules of the Carefree Pavilion.”
Zhao Daojing seemed quite accustomed to the arrogance of the disciples of the Star God Palace.
She was unfazed and about to take out the prepared items.
At that moment, Zhao Sheng suddenly took out a porcelain bottle and tossed it backhandedly to the other.
The young man in the star robe raised his eyebrows, seemingly dissatisfied with Zhao Sheng’s impolite behavior, and hummed softly. He caught the porcelain bottle, uncorked it, and was greeted with a rich fragrance of medicine that wafted out, his eyes instantly brightening.
Inside the bottle was a green jade elixir pill the size of a longan, smooth and translucent, emitting a strong medicinal fragrance. On each pill, three shining white elixir patterns were vividly visible.
“Foundation Establishment Pill, and… it’s a top-grade pill!” The youth in the star robe exclaimed unconsciously, his shock evident in his voice.
He quickly realized his gaffe, his face reddening slightly as he swiftly corrected his attitude.
“Well, may we enter now?” Zhao Sheng stood still with his hands behind his back and spoke indifferently.
“Seniors, please come in! May I know which floor you wish to visit? I will guide you there,” said the youth in the star robe, his eyes looking at Zhao Sheng differently now. He moved a few steps forward, and, with visible reluctance, handed back the pill bottle, speaking very respectfully.
“You’re not accepting it?” Zhao Sheng asked lightly.
The youth’s lips quivered, and he immediately bowed and pleaded, “Senior, you jest. How dare I accept such a precious treasure? I realize my mistake. Your magnanimity is vast, so please forgive me this once.”
A figure who could casually produce a top-grade Foundation Establishment Pill was not someone he could afford to offend.
He had simply been taking advantage of the usual practice to skim a bit off the top but had never imagined he would hit such a snag.
“The Zhao family from Dome Turtle Island has managed to invite such a figure. I hadn’t heard of any famous alchemists from the Zhao family before! Could the information be incorrect?”
The young man silently speculated, while his hands quickly formed a spell; the array on the ground rippled with a sudden flash of white light, creating a direct column of white light to the upper sky.@@novelbin@@
“Both seniors, please enter.” The youth in the star robe stepped aside, bowing and gesturing to welcome them in. Zhao Sheng stepped into the array without any hesitation.
Inside the array, Zhao Daojing instructed, “To the sixth floor!”
Upon completing her sentence, the ground beneath their feet disappeared, and they were lifted by an invisible force, slowly but steadily ascending to the upper sky.
Inside the Carefree Pavilion, the buildings were arranged in a circular pattern. Above the Array was an open cylindrical space with floors every thirty to forty feet. Each floor was separated by a Prohibition Light Film, obscuring the view of the layers above.
Zhao Sheng and his companion passed through six Light Films in succession before coming to a stop.
At that point, a golden Light Gate opened to their left, leading to a spacious corridor, with a faint white light twinkling at the far end, seemingly indicating the presence of a hall.
The two flew through the Light Gate and proceeded along the corridor for more than twenty feet before reaching its end, where a grand and bright magnificent palace appeared before them.
The hall extended over a hundred feet, quite spacious, and was decorated in an understated yet exquisite manner. Its interior was oriented according to the Nine Palaces and Bagua, with the center featuring a round Yin Yang Platform. The outer area was divided into three layers: front, middle, and back, totaling over two hundred seats. Each seat consisted of a jade table and golden chair, with those closer to the platform being larger and the Spirit Food and Spiritual Tea provided more precious and rare.
In the innermost layer, there were only eighteen seats, and only seven were occupied, leaving the rest conspicuously empty, with no one daring to take them.
Despite many Cultivators on the second and third layers coveting the first layer seats, it was as if there was an invisible barrier between the layers, with no one bold enough to cross that line.
At this moment, those who had arrived early in the hall noticed Zhao Sheng and his companion entering and a few of them suddenly stood up as if intending to come over and greet them.
Zhao Sheng’s expression shifted subtly; half of those present were Foundation Establishment Cultivators, but in each seat of the first layer, there was at least one person whose depth he could not discern at a glance.
These were surely individuals at the Golden Core Level.
“Taoist Zhao, have you been well?”
“Senior Sister, it’s been over a decade since you returned to the family after coming down from the mountain. I’ve missed you greatly.”
“Master Zhao, when will your Zhao family bring the next batch of talismans over? Our Sect has been waiting for two months, and it should be time to deliver, shouldn’t it?”
“Taoist Zhao, the debt of Spirit Stones your Zhao Family owes is about to go overdue. When do you plan on settling it?”
Facing a mix of new friends, old friends, customers, and creditors, Zhao Daojing, experienced in social graces, handled everyone with warm and proper etiquette, responding to the crowd skillfully.
Zhao Sheng, on the side, had a slight change in expression, seeing clearly now the purpose of Zhao Daojing asking him to come out of seclusion.
After some time, someone finally took notice of the quietly observing Zhao Sheng.
The “junior brother” with a long face and large ears asked curiously, “Senior Sister Zhao, are you bringing a young member of your family to gain some experience today? Sit next to me! We haven’t seen each other for a long time, and it would be great to catch up.”
What do you think?
