Chapter 21
Before me stood Anette, having dragged me here abruptly, holding a golden spear split in half.
It was shaped like a trident, with a large central blade and two smaller blades on each side.
I knew exactly what this weapon was.
The Thunder Spear, Aspetra...!
Which meant I had a rough idea of what was going on right now.
But… isn’t the Aspetra event a mystery-solving event?
The general flow of the story went like this: The family of Anette Nel Arnora, the president of the student council, had passed down the divine Thunder Spear through the generations. One day, an incident occurs in which the spear is broken. Emily gets involved in the case after someone testifies they saw her visiting the student council room. To prove her innocence, the player must find the real culprit who broke the spear. That was the general flow of the event as I remembered it.
And yet, here the real culprit is, shoving the broken spear in my face…
The event had multiple possible outcomes. The goal was to prove Emily’s innocence, and as the player, you had to gather evidence and point out the culprit. Depending on how valid the evidence was, the person you accused would be punished as the criminal. In one of the endings, the real culprit turned out to be none other than Anette Nel Arnora herself.
"Is this what you’re asking me to take care of?" I asked, uncertain.
"Yes. Do you see any other weapon around here?"
Even though we were face to face, her haughty expression made me feel as though she was looking down on me.
Well, I think I understand the situation now.
Anette Nel Arnora was the true culprit behind the broken Thunder Spear. In the game, she staged the incident to pin the blame on someone else. Yet, for some reason, rather than framing someone else, she was now asking me to fix it.
"But why ask me to do it?"
This was the biggest question. Why wasn’t she trying to pin the blame on someone else like in the game? And why ask me? I didn’t even know Ken Feinstein had crafting skills until I got possessed in this world, and I was supposed to be a minor extra character. No way would anyone entrust something this important to someone so insignificant.
What do you think?
