Chapter 38 - 38. Parent-Teacher Meeting and Conflict 3
"What are your names and why are you bullying my daughter!"
It is said that a woman is weak by nature, but when she becomes a mother, she is strong. After wiping away the tear stains at the corners of her eyes, Zhang Chunxue stood up and coldly glared at the two children who had been hitting her daughter.
The two little brats were scared by her presence and shrank behind their parents, shivering.
"How can you talk like that, they’re just kids, what do they know!" The woman, already jealous and feeling inferior upon seeing that Zhang Chunxue had a better figure and looks than her own, let her mollycoddled pride get the best of her and began to cause a scene.
Just kids, eh? That really got Zhang Chunxue’s goat, and she was so angry she forgot the speech she had prepared.
"Auntie, you’d better watch your words. Your son is a child, Zhang Yiyi is a child, I am a child, too – aren’t we all children!"
"Do you even have the right to speak reasonably here, how rude!"
Xu Qingfan disregarded her and continued, "You had better think before you speak. Unless your son transfers schools, he still has to live and study here for six years. I don’t mind taking some time out of my lunch breaks to give them a taste of their own medicine and see how they like being bullied!"
"You’re the one who is out of line. Are these the kind of students you teach?" the woman pointed at Xu Qingfan’s nose and cursed loudly.
"You might as well see for yourself if I’m telling the truth or not. Your son will have to use the bathroom, he will have to go back to the dormitory to nap, ha!" Xu Qingfan didn’t continue.
"Principal, is this the quality of students you have at your school?" the male parent also pointed at Xu Qingfan’s nose and questioned.
"Xu Qingfan, that’s no way to talk. Come over here to the teacher right now!" Guan Biyue, helpless, held her forehead and pulled Xu Qingfan to her side.
"That’s right, can’t even have a reasonable discussion without bringing up ’just kids.’ Who isn’t a kid, so what? It’s alright for your son to bully others, but when it’s your own turn, you get all worked up, your whole family’s the same, shameless!" Xu Qingfan let loose like a machine gun, infuriating both parents beyond belief.
Snicker~
The rest of the people in the room couldn’t help but snicker surreptitiously, while the two parents’ faces were as dark as the bottom of a pot.
The more Zhang Chunxue looked at Xu Qingfan, the more she liked him, and in her heart, she was already considering whether she could take him as a godson.
"Qingfan is right. Being young is no excuse to bully others. At the Experimental Primary School, we cannot and will not tolerate any student bullying another student!
You two, explain why you were bullying classmate Zhang Yiyi!" Hearing Xu Qingfan’s explanation, the principal just laughed off his previous threats, but actually found the boy quite honest. He thought that Xu Qingfan might be a good candidate for the school’s three best students award at the end of the year.
All of a sudden, a dozen pairs of eyes in the room turned to look at the two little troublemakers. One of them, unable to withstand the pressure, opened his mouth first and said, "Everyone bullies her, she’s a mute..."
"Nonsense! Our class has never bullied Yiyi!" Xiao Ruawen slammed her hand down and scolded the child who was slandering their class.
Xu Qingfan’s mouth was covered by Guan Biyue, otherwise she would have definitely echoed in agreement.
"Exactly! Yiyi is Wanning’s best friend, she would never bully Yiyi!" Lin Wanning also pouted and glared at the child who had spoken.
The principal heard something amiss, "You said everyone bullies her? Who is everyone?"
"Wu Neng... Fan Jian... Du Ziteng...."
"And Zhang Cuihong and Li Xiaohua!" The two little ones listed off names one after the other as if they were naming dishes on a menu.
After a dozen or so names, the principal’s face turned frighteningly dark, and he looked towards Li Tie Feng.
"They’re not from our class. We do have a Li Neng," said Li Tie Feng, waving his hands in a fluster.
"Where are these people now?" Just thinking about how many people had bullied her daughter, Zhang Chunxue was furious.
"Wuu wuu~ I don’t know." The two little troublemakers cried out in fear influenced by Zhang Chunxue’s enraged expression.
One of the parents felt that the names sounded familiar and suddenly remembered; these were his son’s kindergarten classmates!
"Your daughter was also at Sunflower Kindergarten?" he asked.
Upon hearing the name Sunflower Kindergarten, Zhang Chunxue clenched her teeth in anger. So, it was these little brats; no wonder!
Wanting her daughter to have playmates of her own age, Zhang Chunxue sent her to Sunflower Kindergarten to enter the middle class when she was almost five years old.
Zhang Chunxue’s original intention was good; fearing that her daughter would not adapt well to kindergarten at a very young age, she thought entering the middle class at around five years old would be just right.
However, the reality was that the classmates in her grade all showed repulsion towards this sudden new student, and upon learning of Yiyi’s muteness and deafness, some little brat suggested that since she couldn’t tell the teacher even if she was bullied, so...
Only half a semester in, Zhang Chunxue already felt that something was not right. Her usually cheerful and smiling daughter had been gloomy every day ever since starting kindergarten, only smiling when she saw her mother.
Stationery that was bought would disappear after a few days, and the school bag and books inside would often be soaking wet.
The thing that she found most unbearable was that her daughter, who used to love wearing skirts, had suddenly started wearing long pants and sleeves. It wasn’t until one day when Zhang Chunxue accidentally saw the purple bruises on her daughter’s arm from being pinched.
The woman, who hadn’t cried even when she went through the divorce proceedings with her month-old daughter, shed her first tears that day.
What infuriated her the most was that everyone had participated in bullying her daughter, and she didn’t even have a chance to retaliate.
Zhang Chunxue hated her own carelessness even more for not realizing what was happening until nearly three months later, needlessly letting her daughter suffer so much.
Tears silently fell from her eyes once more, startling everyone with her reaction.
"Is it necessary to act like this, it’s just kids fooling around..." the woman saw her starting to cry again and thought she was being ridiculously sentimental.
"Mom...mom!" Zhang Yiyi clutched her mother’s hand tightly. She had recognized the identities of the two people who had bullied her early on, which was why she had such a strong reaction when Xu Qingfan helped her up.
She had thought she would enter hell once more, but this time, an angel appeared right away to rescue her.
Zhang Yiyi looked at Xu Qingfan and then at her mother, with them by her side, she was fearless!
Xu Qingfan understood; apparently, these people had started bullying Yiyi back in kindergarten. This was far from over!
If he didn’t teach these two a harsh lesson, he might as well take their last name!
"Class leader, we’ve been looking for the hearing aid for so long with no success. I think we should discuss compensation first!" Xu Qingfan pried Guan Biyue’s hand from over his mouth to speak.
He naturally wouldn’t frame the other party; his words were just to take back control of the situation.
"What’s the rush? It might turn up in a bit. A single facial treatment for me costs tens of thousands; do you think I would care about that little amount from you?" The woman said evasively.
"Class leader grandpa, what do you think we should do? How can we not punish them after they bullied Zhang Yiyi so much?"
Zhang Chunxue wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and gratefully looked at Xu Qingfan. For the first time ever, she felt dependent on someone else, and this person was the same age as her daughter.
"Regardless of whether the hearing aid is found or not, what are your names?"
"My name is Wu Yifan~"
"Wuu~ Zhai Tielin."
"Damn!" Xu Qingfan blurted out a swear word unexpectedly.
Everyone turned to look at him.
"It’s nothing, carry on!" he gestured with his hand.
[Indeed, CS people have CS names!]
The first name was already bad enough, but Xu Qingfan detested the latter even more.
He had just graduated from college in the first year of Tianlin and had to deal with the requirement for plagiarism check rate being brutally lowered from 35% to 10%!
After pulling out his hair for two days, a perfectly fine phrase had to be awkwardly altered to pass the system’s plagiarism check!
Xu Qingfan absolutely loathed that person with the surname Zhai!
The funniest joke on friends’ social media feeds at that time was: The plagiarism system changed ’semi-colonial’ to ’0.5 colonial’ for me!
"Wu Yifan and Zhai Tielin, each of you write a 400-word self-reflection. The grade will issue a notice criticizing you." The class leader pondered before speaking.
"That’s it?" Xu Qingfan blurted out.
"Do you have a different opinion, Qingfan?" The class leader turned his head and looked at him with a smile.
"Their self-reflections must satisfy our classmates. Also, they need to come to our class tomorrow and read them aloud in front of all students!"
"Okay, I agree. I’ll personally bring them over tomorrow!"
Xu Qingfan nodded in satisfaction. Writing a 400-word self-reflection in one night was virtually impossible for a first-grader, and the original punishment didn’t even have a time limit—he naturally wouldn’t accept that!
The best was yet to come!
The two troublemakers suddenly felt as if they were being watched by a ferocious beast and shivered without warning.
What do you think?
