Chapter 1193: One Last Visit
The descriptions Safa had given were on point to Raze. Although Safa didn't quite know what she was saying or describing herself, it didn't matter; all of it was a big help to him.
He understood it, and he had already figured out a few things where he went wrong.
What was good as well, was when Raze had attempted to perform the same moves as he had seen based on the descriptions, Safa was also able to describe the differences, telling him where his Qi and magic differed from the technique that was performed.
Then finally, after relentlessly practicing and some time had passed, Raze was ready with his sword.
"The seventh formation…"
Not long after, Raze had then performed the last and final formation of the Dark Edge sword arts.
"I can't believe it… you managed to master it, and that fast as well?" Shay commented.
The entire area the group was in was a complete mess. There were several destroyed craters everywhere across the land.
Large giant cracks had formed in a single line as if a giant had appeared out of the skies and struck the ground.
And the person responsible for it all was a single man.
'I know he told me to teach him the last two formations and he must have had some type of grasp on them, but what even is this?' Shay thought.
She had seen him from when he had first practiced the new formations; Shay was even smug as she could tell that he still had a long way to go to learn the two formations.
Even if one had an understanding, it felt like Raze was still years away from mastering such techniques—if he was a quick learner, maybe months.
Yet she saw the fast progress right in front of her eyes; with each attempt at the Dark Edge sword arts, he was getting closer and closer.
For Raze, he never saw himself as talented, and this was very true. In Alterian, it was his hard work, deduction, and his craft of research that allowed him to excel.
The reason he was able to learn Pagna warrior techniques quickly in Pagna was due to how similar it was to control Qi and Magic.
He already had close to 70 years under his belt, and not just that, but Raze's understanding far outweighed even his control.
What he didn't realize was his knowledge, his dedication—it had become his special talent. It placed him so far ahead of everyone else that basic and hard concepts were easier for him.
He had excelled at all of the fundamentals required, and there was something more that had helped.
Raze was wearing the special helmet that used to belong to the Deleter Shay. When wearing it, it allowed him to push himself without feeling tired, without having to give in to his body.
Then there were Safa's great healing capabilities. When the helmet was no longer enough, he could recover to the point where he was almost as good as new.
Pushing oneself as far as Raze did, one might have to wait weeks to attempt to perform the same techniques.
But due to the combination of everything, he could perform it again and again, and he had the perfect person as a reference who already knew how to use the moves well.
After successfully performing both of the remaining formations, Raze was being healed, and he had taken the helmet off, casting his magic away and placing the helmet aside.
When Shay saw this, she clicked her tongue. "I guess I'm not getting that helmet back anytime soon. It looks like he's claimed it for himself," Shay commented.
"The last formation," Raze spoke as he was sitting down cultivating and also had Safa healing him. "Why is it different when you use it? It's not just a little different, it's… almost like a different technique?"
"Why are you asking questions about something that you should already know the answer to?" Shay replied. "The fact that you were able to perform the technique means you know why. Because the final formation is different, and unlike me who uses Dark Qi, you use Demonic Qi. Added to that, you can do something that I am never able to do."
It was deep into the night, and one thing Raze noticed was that Safa was extremely tired. Sure, she was powerful, but she had been using her light magic powers, her Qi, everything to help Raze as well as the others.
They all needed their rest, even if he didn't. As they headed back to the town of Flendon, they knew they would have to get up early to leave towards the Neverfall clan in the morning and travel from there.
When Raze had arrived, he had said his goodbyes to the others.
"Get some rest, Safa, I'll see you in the morning," Raze claimed. "I'll be fine; I'm just going to be making some last moment preparations."
Safa didn't ask anymore. She knew a lot must be on Raze's mind, and the best thing she could do herself right now was rest.
When Raze walked off, he headed towards the lake. It was so late there was no one but a few stray cats on the streets. Casting his magic, he started to descend into the lake, heading to his secret base.
"I have the special blazer I'm wearing, I also have three more forced Breakthroughs that I can perform, and I have now completely learned all the Dark Edge sword arts.
"I'm still a 6 star mage though—is it enough for me? Is it enough right now for me to face the Grand Magus the way I am now? Maybe there are a few more things I can do to increase my star level.
"I guess I should visit Alterian one last time as the Dark Spirit, and next time… I'll be heading over there with my real body."
