Dark Magus Returns

The system had successfully been linked between Anna and Zon. It had been a while since Zon had done this with anyone.

He had been stuck in his particular situation for a long time, searching for any members from his world, any person from the Red Fortis army, and here in Pham he had found an ally and he had found the person he was looking for.

Immediately after, Anna had placed her hand out ready to fire out the vibrations like she had done before.

This had caused Red to move the moment he saw this and then he saw Zon moving as well. Still as powerful as he was before, he used the thrusters to move.

Then zigzagged in a diagonal line, ready to take a large swing at Zon. At the same time Red had tried to pick up another weapon from the ground but had noticed that they had all been shattered in the area behind him.

He had nothing he could pick up and use. All he could do was dodge the attack that was coming at him.

Red then opened his palm to fire out blasts toward Zon, the moment the energy blasts left his hand, they had only gone a short distance before being disrupted and turning into nothing but particles.

"Damn it!" Red shouted.

Before he knew it Zon was right in front of him and had whacked him with the Axe from below, hitting him high in the air.

With the two having their systems linked, they knew where to move to avoid each other's attacks.

They knew what the other was thinking and could also stop using the special bracer Anna had.

While Red was missing all of that information, they could perfectly communicate and attack in different ways without even talking.

This was what truly made the Red Fortis army so fearful.

'If that's the case then I have to go after the weaker one of you two.' Using his red energy behind him, he blasted his way from the sky and was heading straight for Anna.

He knew he was faster than Anna and his energy was stronger than hers—even with the special item, he could still beat her if it was a one-on-one fight.

All he had to do was beat her fast enough before Zon got involved.

As Red was blasting his way toward Anna, he felt something from his side. He forced all of the energy into one part of his hand, causing his body to spin.

Right after, Zon had zoomed right past him, missing him completely.

"You're still too predictable!" Red claimed, and continued on course.

When charging ahead though, he had to be careful where Anna was pointing her hand, so he wondered why Anna was pointing her hand to the ground—no, she was touching it.

Several cracks could be seen spread through the entire floor, covering nearly the entire area where they were fighting.

"I was never aiming for you!" Zon said.

Red could see Zon high up in the sky, then using the full power of the thrusters, he forced himself straight to the floor with both large Axes in hand.

He swung them down and crashed into the flooring. All of the rocks that had been broken on the floor from Anna's special item lifted up from the floor.

Thousands upon thousands of rocks of all various shapes and sizes were lifted into the air, covering everything.

Red was looking around and he couldn't even see where Anna or Zon were now. He turned his head drastically.

He could see flickers of energy moving about, but he wasn't sure—was it Zon, or was he trying to trick him somehow through all of this mess?

Using his own energy, he blasted a group of the rocks but it did next to nothing, and it was too late.

From another angle, Zon had broken through the rocks himself at an immense speed. He had fully powered through, not caring for the pain his body would take as it was hit.

All of the times before when Red had avoided the attack, it was because of what he was able to see.

What he could calculate, avoiding the strikes at the right time. Due to the distraction, Zon could power himself more than he usually would and come from an unseen angle.

Immediately as Zon reached Red, he also noticed he had nothing in his hands and instead had just grabbed on, holding him completely still.

"What are you doing!" Red shouted as he struggled.

"Working as a team because that's what we were." Zon pushed Red with force while holding onto him until he felt something on his back.

At a glance, he could see that it was Anna. The hand touching him was the one with the bracer. As she activated the item, immediately the entire suit broke apart due to the vibrations, falling to the ground.

Right after, the vibrations continued inside of Red's own body. It felt like the small nano-machines were breaking down as well. Red could see countless error messages appearing from his system screen.

"I will finish this!" Zon said as he threw Red's body high in the air.

Red was desperately trying to do something—anything—but his body didn't seem to be responding.

His system was down and his power was out.

"We weren't the only ones relying on the system—we all were, including you." Zon said as he had formed another energy Axe out from his hands.

He held it on tight and slammed it right into Red's body. It blasted him down until his entire body crashed into the flooring.

Slowly, both he and Anna started to descend along with the rest of the rubble. When they reached the floor, they walked toward Red, who they could see.

His body was still alive but blood was pouring out of his mouth and it was clear he could no longer fight.

"You happy now, Captain?" Red asked. "Why don't you… link up with me one last time, and learn what happened back then?"
