Chapter 22: Her family III

Chapter 22: Her family III

Azaroth sighed heavily, his crimson eyes locking onto Zephyx as he prepared to explain something that would undoubtedly alter the dynamics between Drusilla and him.

"When a vampire shares their blood for the first time," he began, his deep voice steady but weighty, "regardless of whether it's with a human, another vampire, or any other race, it forms a bond. If the blood exchange is mutual—if both drink from each other—it creates a sacred connection."

He paused for a moment, letting the weight of his words sink in. Then, with a pointed look, he added, "Drusilla sharing blood with you means she has chosen you as her companion."

Companion? Zephyx's mind raced, trying to piece together.

Azaroth sighed again, as though frustrated by Zephyx's apparent confusion. "It means," he said, his voice growing firmer, "that you are her lover."

Zephyx's mismatched eyes widened slightly, and he blinked, stunned into silence. Lover?

Drusilla ended her silence at last, speaking softly but with determination. "I didn't forget on purpose," she mumbled, adjusting slightly under the piercing gaze of her father. "I just...didn't think it was the right time to explain everything."

Azaroth frowned at her, his expression both disapproving and exasperated. "Not the right time? He's standing in my court, clueless about the gravity of his situation. When exactly were you planning to tell him?"

Drusilla crossed her arms, her usual confidence returning as she met her father's gaze. "He's smart," she said stubbornly. "I thought he'd figure it out eventually."

Internally, Zephyx groaned. "Smart or not, how was he supposed to deduce something like this on his own? Which was not even mentioned in the game."

Azaroth didn't seem satisfied with her response, but he relented, shaking his head. "Fine. Just make sure he understands everything before this bond progresses further."

Drusilla glanced at Zephyx, her voice softening. "I'll tell you all about it later," she said, as if to comfort both Zephyx and her father.

Azaroth gestured with a dismissive wave of his hand.

Selene, having stood by in quiet amusement, watching the exchange, finally broke in. "Okay, let's get this business out of the way for now. You two go in. We have things to talk about here."

Drusilla and Zephyx looked at each other before nodding and leaving the room.

Once the heavy doors shut behind them, Selene's smile faded slightly, and her crimson eyes turned to her husband. "What do you think of him?"

Azaroth leaned back in his throne, his expression contemplative. "He's strong for his age," he admitted, his tone neutral at first. "But what amazes me—and unnerves me—is not that he's a Primordial Vampire or even his unique category. It's his bloodline."

Selene raised an elegant brow. "His bloodline?"

Azaroth nodded somberly. "Although it has yet to awaken, I can feel its potential. When it does, he'll be a terror to his foes." He stood silent for a moment, his ruby-colored eyes darkening. "When I attempted to feel out the nature of his bloodline, it was like nothing before. It was as if I gazed into the void....gazed into my own death."

Selene smiled softly, her tone light in contrast to the gravity of her husband's words. "You're afraid of his bloodline?"

Azaroth shook his head, a brief smirk playing at his lips. "Not afraid—cautious. If there were anyone else standing before me, I could easily discern their bloodline and its characteristics. But his? It's as if it defies understanding."

His smile spread a fraction wider, the faintest trace of humor lighting his eyes. "Good, he's with us—or soon will be. And judging from the way Drusilla glares at him, she certainly isn't about to let him leave."

Selene giggled, the music like laughter rising from her lips. "Haha~, right on. She's already claimed him, either he knows it or not."

Azaroth laughed with her, although his was weak and subdued. "For better or worse, this boy will shake the pillars of this world."
