Chapter 847: Chapter 499: Using a Star Domain as a Dowry
Although Logan repeatedly declined, Maya Leaf was not someone who lacked gratitude.
“Brother Logan, there’s no need for you to decline anymore. The debt of saving a life is immeasurable. You saved my life, and this is a fact. I will always remember your kindness,” she said.
As she spoke, Maya Leaf let out a gentle sigh, her eyes flickering briefly.
Her gaze was unfathomable, and there was also a hint of distance in it.
“Now that things have come to this, I won’t keep it from you any longer, Brother Logan. In fact, I came to this Secret Land to search for the Business Fire Lotus. It’s very important to me. It can save the life of someone in my family. So I can’t say I don’t want it; I came here for it,” she continued.
“Brother Logan, frankly speaking, you were the one who picked the Business Fire Lotus. How to deal with it is up to you. I won’t take away what you like, but I’m willing to make an exchange. Whatever you want, as long as I have it, you can have it in exchange. I just hope you can do me this favor,” she offered earnestly.
As she spoke, Maya Leaf suddenly knelt down with a thump.
“What are you doing? Get up, why kneel like this?”
Logan was somewhat flustered to see her kneel so readily and begin crying. He had no idea how to comfort a girl, especially one in tears.
Moreover, she hadn’t actually done anything to him; her thoughts and actions were all for the sake of saving a family member, after all.
“Alright, that’s enough. Get up. Take the Business Fire Lotus; it’s yours. I meant what I said before—it’s a medicine that can bring back the dead and mend bones. Consider it my showing you kindness this one time,” he said generously.
Having said that, he waved his hand dismissively, his expression showing no hint of regret. Instead, it was Maya Leaf who seemed uncertain, her whole demeanor unsure.
“Really, Brother Logan? You’re not joking with me? You really are willing to let me have it?” she asked, hopeful.
“Indeed, take it before I change my mind. But you’ll have to pick it yourself. Now that the Water Dragon has been dealt with, the biggest danger here is gone. You can give it a try,” he said calmly.
Maya Leaf’s lips quivered with gratitude, clearly overwhelmed.
“Brother Logan, thank you, truly thank you. I don’t even know how to express my deep gratitude. In any case, I, Maya Leaf, will forever be in your debt. If you don’t need to call in that favor now, just look for me in the future, and I will repay you!”
She extended four fingers and swore to the Heavenly Dao, demonstrating her sincerity.@@novelbin@@
Seeing this, Logan finally began to think better of the girl.
It appeared that she was a girl with schemes, but not a bad person. At least, she was someone who knew gratitude and was worth befriending.
“Hmm,” was his simple acknowledgment, accepting the karma thus created.
After bowing to him once more, Maya Leaf then leapt over the lava and plucked the few Business Fire Lotuses with the grace of a butterfly. She returned promptly to avoid further complications, landing safely without encountering any trouble on the way.
Maya Leaf patted her chest, as if in relief.
“Whew, luckily I’ve been worrying all the way here, afraid that some Guardian Beast might suddenly appear. Thankfully, there are no more dangers,” she sighed.
“Hmm,” Logan responded curtly, echoing her words indifferently. From that moment on, he truly started to accept Maya Leaf.
“If there’s nothing else, let’s leave now,” Logan suggested.
“Okay, let’s go together,” Maya Leaf agreed, regarding him as her mainstay. She did whatever he said and gave him a docile smile when he looked her way, appearing gentle and understanding.
Logan’s lips curled ever so slightly, his subtle smile barely noticeable as he prepared to leave. While doing so, something suddenly occurred to Maya Leaf, and she called out to him.
“Wait a moment, Brother Logan.”
“What is it now?”
Logan turned back, his gaze filled with a trace of confusion. Maya Leaf just smiled meaningfully.
“I almost forgot something important. Just wait here for a second; I’ll be right back,” she said.
She returned to where the Water Dragon had fallen and cut a Flood Dragon Scale from its chest, presenting it to Logan.
“Other things might not be rare, but this Flood Dragon Scale is valuable. It’s not just for crafting hidden weapons but also useful in medicine. The most important part of the Water Dragon is this scale. Brother Logan, you should take it; after all, you defeated the Dragon, and you did the most work. The scale naturally belongs to you. As for the rest, how about you take six parts and I take four?”
As for dividing the spoils from the Water Dragon, Logan had no objections.
Regarding the scale, however, Logan had no intention of simply accepting it.
“No need, since it’s valuable, you keep the scale.”
Maya Leaf looked puzzled.
“Brother Logan, what’s this about? You’re the one who deserves it the most!”
Logan just smiled.
“I don’t have a use for it at the moment. Flood Dragon Scales are no big deal to me. On the other hand, you could combine it with the Business Fire Lotus for medicine. If you use it on your family member, who knows, you might get an unexpected result. Don’t you want that extra assurance?”
If it were for Maya Leaf herself, she would have refused without a second thought, but for her family, she hesitated.
“Enough hesitation, accept it. It’s a gift and there’s no taking back a gift once given. Instead of dwelling on it, you’d better clear your mind and see if there’s anything else of value here,” he said, settling the matter.
What do you think?
