Chapter 854: Chapter 502: The Head of the Great One_2

“What do you think? To dare deceive me, this is the price you should pay!”

The Demon Race knew they had been exposed. In the end, they died in agony. Logan looked at the corpse, his eyes devoid of any flicker of emotion. Then, with a mix of reluctance and anger, he destroyed the contaminated spring.

“Better to destroy this spring than leave it to harm others.”

Maya Leaf sighed and stepped forward.

She looked at the lifeless Little Flower in Logan’s hands. Although she sighed, she still urged Logan.

“Brother Logan, this Little Flower has no life left in it. Holding onto it is pointless; it will wither away completely before long. You should throw it away. Keeping it with you is nothing but a burden.”

...

But Logan shook his head, quite stubborn on this matter.

“No, I was the one who plucked it. I failed to take proper care of it. In the end, I’m also to blame. Besides, even if it’s just a small flower, it’s still a life. I will continue to carry it and try my best to find a way to revive it.”

Seeing his stubbornness, Maya Leaf’s lips twitched, but she said no more. Logan continued on his way, carrying the Little Flower with him.

Meanwhile, another group of the Demon Race was wreaking havoc on another location.

There was an outlier among the demons, a frail member of the Demon Race. He was unwilling to travel quickly, even slowing down the progress, for which he was beaten by the other irate members of the Demon Race.

The frail demon was indignant.

“I just don’t understand. I think the Human race and the Demon Race could live in peace, but both sides can’t stand each other, leading to constant conflicts. Why must we be at each other’s throats?”

The other demons regarded these words as traitorous, and they were very angry.

“You traitor! Humans and demons are natural enemies. You actually indulge in thoughts of peaceful coexistence. I’ll beat you to death!”

“To think that a traitor like you existed among us, an oddity in the Demon Race. It’s no wonder there have been delays in our missions. It’s all because of you, huh. Let’s see if we don’t give you a proper lesson today!”

The Demon Race was never good-natured. Once they targeted the frail demon, they rolled up their sleeves and prepared for violence.@@novelbin@@

“Do you even remember how your parents died? Now you’re helping those Humans. If you’re not a traitor, who is!”

Witnessing this, the frail demon couldn’t help but tremble, retreating step by step. Despite this, he was not willing to change his views.

Although the death of his parents was an unforgettable sorrow in his heart, he believed the world shouldn’t be so twisted.

“No, I am not wrong, it’s you who are. It’s your ignorance that’s led to the current strife between the Human race and the Demon Race. I truly don’t understand, when there is no great enmity, why must we be irreconcilable, why can’t we coexist peacefully?”

“Naive!”

One of the demons suddenly cursed, scoffing as if he looked down on the frail demon.

“You should know, both the Human race and the Demon Race ultimately rely on nature’s spiritual energy for cultivation. But there is only so much spiritual energy in the world, and we are competing for it. How can we turn enemies into friends? Do you expect them to stop fighting for spiritual energy and stop targeting us just because we become friends?”

“Moreover, because our methods of cultivation are different, we are despised in this world. Since they consider us to be unforgivable beings, why should we offer them kindness only to be met with coldness?”

Despite this, the frail demon still disagreed with this reasoning.

“However, we could have originally absorbed Demonic Qi for cultivation. In the end, it evolved into harming the Human race. If we’re really to talk about it, it was we who struck first, leading to our infamy. How can we pursue the Great Law this way? Fellow seniors, let’s stop this. Let’s follow the right path. Why do we need to cultivate through harming others? There are things in this world that contain Demonic Qi. The Demon Race can cultivate without depending on anything else. Why must we be enemies of the Human race?”

This statement left the group of demons at a loss for words, their faces flushing with vexation.

“You brat, going about finding Demonic Qi, as if it’s as simple as Humans absorbing spiritual energy. But if we use them as targets, it’s different. We can greatly increase our power and easily advance levels. With such an easy and effortless way, why bother searching for Demonic Qi?”

The scrawny demon tugged at the corner of his mouth, managing a helpless smile.

“So you’re saying you’re really just looking out for your own interests, with no noble reasons behind it, just pure selfishness!”

“What do you mean ‘you’? You little stinker, have you forgotten that you’re one of us? You’re a demon too, but for some reason, you insist on speaking for the human race. Tell me, are you a traitor sent by humans?”

Another demon joined in the accusation.

“If it weren’t for the strong Demonic Qi emanating from his body, and the fact that he indeed spent a long time among the demon race, I would have thought him a spy too. But a traitor is a traitor, human or demon, and they should be taught a lesson, made to recognize their place!”

This remark was met with unanimous approval from the other demons, who then began to attack in unison, besieging the scrawny demon. The scrawny demon tried to escape, but he was no match for them; in the end, not only was he captured, but he was also beaten until his face was swollen and bruised.

“Speak, admit your mistake. Say you’ll never again speak for the human race and that you’ll serve as a loyal dog of the demon race. Say it now, or we’ll kill you this instant!”

The scrawny demon’s face was a patchwork of black and purple, his bones broken, but even so, he clung to his belief and refused to utter words that would betray his convictions.

“No, I will not speak such words, I won’t betray my beliefs!”

Even in the face of death, the scrawny demon could not fathom altering his thoughts.

This only fueled the other demons’ anger, and at last, they decided to end his life. The scrawny demon was already outmatched, and now he faced a mob.

Just when he was about to be beaten to death, suddenly, a force drew near.

Taken by surprise, the demons were struck squarely by the force, leading to an explosion that scattered them. Mysteriously, the force did not harm the scrawny demon.

The demons were now on high alert.

“Who dares to interfere with the affairs of the demon race? You’re courting death!”

Logan emerged from the bushes, his hands radiating flames, looking at the demons as if they were nothing more than corpses. He spoke expressionlessly.

“Perfect, I hate demons the most, and here you all come right to me!”

Having said that, he activated the array from before, continuing to pummel the demons.

“What kind of monster is this, how can his power grow so drastically!”

“That array, the one he’s using, is very strange!”

“Run, run for your lives! None of us demons can match him!”

The demons, ever opportunistic, quickly considered escape upon realizing the situation. But it was too late, for Logan, having appeared before them, had no intention of letting them go.

Previously, he had already developed an intense hatred for the demon race because of Little Flower.

Having killed just two of them hadn’t lessened his loathing, and now he stumbled upon a whole group of demons, prime for the reaping.

The demons, unable to escape in time, cried out in agony, dissipating amidst nature’s spiritual energy, clearly unwilling to accept their demise, but the world granted them no chance at life.

Watching his fellow demons turn to ash, the scrawny demon merely stared, unsure of his feelings.

These kinsmen had sought his life, and he knew he should not be lenient, but they were still his kind.

Moreover, from the start, he had only wanted to persuade them, not to kill them.

But, fortunate for him, the scrawny demon was not sentimental or a saint; he merely sighed and observed with a cold detachment.

Just as Logan was about to deal with this demon too, he suddenly spoke.
