Chapter 856: Chapter 503: Divine Descendants_2

He clenched his fist tightly and placed it against his chest, his gaze sharp and piercing.

Logan and Maya Leaf exchanged a glance, a flash of surprise crossing their eyes.

“You, of the Demon Race, not only have uncommon thoughts but also quite the bold tone,”

Lexi Carr’s expression was a bit embarrassed, unconsciously scratching the back of his head.

“I know you think I’m daydreaming, but this is my lifelong ideal. No matter whether it can be realized or however great the difficulties, I will always pursue this path until death.”

From the moment he harbored this thought and embarked on this point of no return, Lexi Carr knew he was destined for a path at odds with every other member of the Demon Race.

...

They were fated to stand on opposite sides.

Back then, he might not be considered righteous, nor of the Demon Path, and it was possible someone might kill him for it, but so what?

No matter the reason, no matter what he encountered, he would not change his statement.

Looking at Lexi Carr’s face brimming with confidence, and the fist he clenched tightly, Logan suddenly became curious.

“Why are you different from other demons? I’m suddenly quite curious, what exactly have you experienced that led you to such an unconventional idea?”

A person doesn’t change overnight, of course, and neither does a demon. This little demon must have gone through something to have such thoughts.

Lexi Carr pursed his lips, seemingly at a loss for words, hesitating at first whether to speak or stay silent, but after a moment’s hesitation, he finally took a deep breath and revealed the reason.

“If there really is a reason, it’s because of my parents,”

“My parents died in the conflict between the two races. They were just the lowest rung of the Demon Race, fighting for a nebulous belief, and in the end, they gained nothing, I don’t even understand the significance of their battle.”

“How the conflict with the Human race started, and how it escalated to a fight to the death, I don’t understand at all. It seems like we could have taken a step back, so why complicate matters? Why let countless ordinary demons shed blood and die for a meaningless sacrifice?”

“My parents weren’t unique, just an insignificant pair among millions of demons, and I, I just want to prevent such tragedies. I just hope the two races can coexist peacefully, letting ordinary humans and demons live properly.”

“My parents weren’t willing participants, nor were many others. It’s more about being driven by the interests of the upper strata, so, I believe, there is still the possibility for peace between the races. I am willing to be the pioneer.”

He was full of fighting spirit, whether you call his words boastful or visionary. The one thing Logan admired most about such people was their daring to think and act on it.

“Hmph, you were nearly killed by other demons, and still, you refuse to repent?”

Lexi Carr felt quite embarrassed recalling the recent mishap.

“I must also thank Young Master Logan for coming to my rescue. But even if I were truly beaten to death, I would never change my stance.”

Logan didn’t understand.

“Actually, if you had just capitulated or begged them for mercy earlier, it wouldn’t have come to the brink of death.”

Lexi Carr shook his head.

“That is my belief, Young Master. I will not change it.”

“Being too stubborn isn’t good; one should be more flexible in life, especially as a member of the Demon Race. I’ve never seen a demon as naïve as you.”

Naïve is the nicer way to put it; calling it stupid would be harsher.

Can’t you learn to be cunning? If a person is gone, all grand aspirations are useless.

Lexi Carr was a bit shy.

“I’m sorry, I’m not good at lying and I don’t like to lie. I think it’s good this way, to persist in being myself.”

His demeanor was a little stubborn. Although it looked rigid, Logan couldn’t help but admire his sense of purpose.

Silly perhaps, but honest, and how many can maintain such perseverance in a cause?

To stick to one’s beliefs, regardless of life, such people are truly rare.

Logan fell silent, no longer trying to persuade, his look at Lexi Carr now tinged with various other emotions.

“Then I wish you success in advance.”

This was the first time he didn’t throw cold water on someone, but instead offered a blessing. Lexi Carr thought he had misheard, staring at Logan in astonishment.

Logan didn’t explain much, just walked in one direction.

“Follow me. Since you can restore what’s been infected, there are other places that have been infected too, so restore them all,” he said.

The most important thing was the Life Spring.

He had thought there was no way to fix it, but things took a turn for the better. If this Lexi Carr could really restore it…

Then there was that Little Flower in his space.

Thinking of the wilting little daisy in his space, Logan couldn’t help but quicken his pace, with Lexi Carr steadily keeping up behind him until they arrived at the place where the Life Spring was located.

“The water of that place is from the Life Spring, which was infected by one of your kind. We’ve tried many methods but couldn’t restore it. Do you have a way?”

Lexi Carr stepped forward to have a close look and then turned back to nod earnestly.

“Yes.”

“Okay, try now. But remember what I said, no tricks,” Logan instructed.

“Don’t worry, Young Master. Since I have promised to restore what’s been infected, I will keep my word,” she replied.

After that, she looked towards the Life Spring and began to chant strange incantations again.

Maya Leaf, not knowing when, had come by Logan’s side and exclaimed in surprise.

“You really are determined to save that daisy, aren’t you? Never forgetting to rescue it.”

Logan lowered his head, giving the little daisy in his space a quick glance.

“Maybe it’s because I was unsuccessful before that it’s always on my mind. Since I’ve taken it away, I ought to take full responsibility for it. For some reason, I just hope this little daisy can recover.”

Maya Leaf shook her head, seemingly puzzled, but beyond her sigh, she didn’t pry further.

After a moment, good news came from Lexi Carr.

“It’s done, Young Master. The Life Spring has been purified,” she announced.

Her voice interrupted the conversation between Logan and Maya Leaf, who immediately walked over.

From the outside, nothing seemed different; the Spiritual Spring appeared clear and clean. However, previously, the demon who caused trouble looked the same. Remembering this brought a flash of disgust in Logan’s eyes, mingled with some hesitation.

If that demon continued to cause trouble, the little daisy couldn’t endure another setback. However, after much deliberation, he ultimately chose to trust Lexi Carr.

Perhaps it was because this Demon Race individual was different from the rest, maybe worthy of trust.

He didn’t speak, just walked over and took some water from the Life Spring and brought out the little daisy from his space, watering it.

After that, he held his breath, watching the daisy’s condition.

Gradually, the little daisy regained some vitality. As it showed signs of improvement, although it still looked wilted, there was indeed an effect.@@novelbin@@

Both Logan and Maya Leaf were excited by this development.

“It’s working! That’s great, Brother Logan. I told you, the Life Spring is suitable for any plant, it’s bound to work,” Maya Leaf said.

“Yes, after trying so many methods, it’s finally regaining some vitality,” agreed Logan.

He actually felt a sense of achievement from this, it was no easy feat after all.

Watching the excitement of the two, Lexi Carr felt a bit out of place and puzzled. He looked back and forth between them and the little daisy in Logan’s hand.

Adhering to the principle that if you don’t understand something you should ask, he posed his question obediently.

“What is this, Young Master Logan? This seems to be just an ordinary little daisy. Is there something special hidden within it? Why do you seem so concerned about it?” he inquired.

Saying so, he moved a little closer, observing it meticulously from top to bottom, yet he found nothing, unable to understand why.

No matter how one looked at it, this was just an ordinary little daisy, sometimes found by the roadside, passed by without a second glance from passersby.

Yet, such an ordinary daisy was being nurtured with water from the Life Spring.

One must know that outside, the Life Spring was considered a life-saving medicine, something many people desperately sought after.
