Chapter 869: Chapter 509: Winged Human Ancestor of Blood_3
Spirit Beasts are right, too; anyone would be angry in this situation.
“So it wasn’t wild after all, you’ve been painstakingly cultivating it for hundreds of years.”
Logan said ambiguously as the Spirit Beast nodded hastily.
“Yes, yes, now you should know how hard it was for me. You’ve taken the Spirit Fruit, and that’s fine, I won’t quibble over that. Just let me go, okay? Can’t you spare my life in consideration of my hard work?”
Logan smiled as the other two waited for his opinion.
He thought this Spirit Beast had a hard time, too, so he planned to let it off.
...
“Let it go. This Spirit Beast has spirituality; it’s like accumulating some good karma.”
The other two, although they found it a bit regrettable, still went along with Logan’s decision.
“No problem, Brother Logan. If it weren’t for you, we would have been long dead. It was up to you to decide whether to spare or kill this Spirit Beast, after all.”
Maya Leaf was the first to express her stance, with a sweet smile on her face.
Lexi Carr’s face showed no displeasure either.
“I feel the same way, Young Master Logan. If you want to let it go, then let it go. As the saying goes, ‘Heaven has the virtue of good life.’ To encounter such a spiritual Spirit Beast might also be a stroke of fate.”
Maya Leaf raised her eyebrows slightly, sending a teasing look toward Lexi Carr.
“Wow, a member of the Demon Race who understands some Buddhist philosophy, how rare.”
Lexi Carr seemed quite proud, puffing out her chest with vigor.
“As a future bearer of peace between the Demon Race and Human race, it’s better for me to learn as much as possible. That way, I won’t be at a loss for words when I battle with wit in the future. I am a Demon Race scholar eager to learn!”
Both Logan and Maya Leaf were amused by her, but their laughter was not mocking, and Maya Leaf was rather impressed.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen someone fight for their beliefs like you do. Good, keep it up! I might not be able to help much, but I certainly support you!”
——————
Lexi Carr suddenly became a bit shy, scratching the back of her head and sheepishly saying thanks.
“Thank you.”
When the Spirit Beast learned it was being released, its first reaction was disbelief.
“You… you’re really going to let me go? You’re not tricking me, are you?”
Logan tilted his head, his voice indifferent.
“What, you don’t want to be released? If you don’t want to go, I can capture you right now.”
“No, no, no need for that, I’ll leave now, right away, thank you, thank you, thank you guys!”
After receiving several ‘thank yous,’ the Spirit Beast took off running.
It seemed terrified they might change their minds and half expecting some trap to spring.
Maya Leaf’s Spirit Pet watched the fleeing Spirit Beast with a sigh. It couldn’t be helped—they had just nibbled and bitten it, managing to taste some blood. And it was indeed the blood of a mighty Spirit Beast, full of astonishing Spiritual Energy.
If it hadn’t been for their owner’s intervention, they would have surely devoured it completely.
Maya Leaf knew the natural world was survival of the fittest, and seeing the disappointment of her Beast Pets, she comforted them after taking them back.
“Okay, there will be other chances in the future. Are you worried I can’t feed you enough? Back to the Spirit Beast Space.”
After speaking, she flipped her sleeve and took them back in.
“Brother Logan, since the trouble is now behind us, let’s head out,” Maya Leaf said.
“Okay.”
The group turned and set off again.
Logan cradled Little White in his arms, and when he looked down at Little White, his eyes showed a touch of tenderness.
“Do well, and I hope you’ll give me a surprise after you’ve digested that Spiritual Energy.”
Maya Leaf overheard the murmurs and quickly joined in.
Listening to this, the anxiety in Logan’s heart was somewhat alleviated. He gazed at the little white fox currently absorbing the essence of the Spirit Fruit, his eyes reflecting deep expectation and trust.
“Thank you for your auspicious words. I also believe that Little White is no ordinary Spirit Beast,” Logan said gravely, his voice filled with determination and confidence,
“If it has guarded this Spirit Grass for hundreds of years, it shows that its fate is extraordinary. Once it absorbs the power of the Spirit Fruit, it will surely undergo an amazing transformation.”
Logan reminisced about the experiences he had encountered with Little White, filled with emotion. From the initial strangerhood and cautiousness to the present trust and dependency, Little White had become an indispensable part of his life. He looked forward to Little White becoming stronger and hoped the bond between them would deepen further.
“The future is not only my expectation but also my hope for Little White,” Logan said with a smile, his eyes sparkling with anticipation for the future. “I believe that with our concerted efforts, we can surely create a brilliant chapter of our own.”
“Never mind that. I hope Little White can stay safe and sound more than anything else,” he added.
With that, Logan turned to the busy others, gratitude and contentment in his gaze. He was confident that with their collective efforts, the future would surely be brighter.
Since they were walking and talking without any stiffness or tension in the air, it felt like a leisurely outing.
However, before the happy conversation could go on, Lexi Carr sensed something wasn’t right.
What do you think?
