Chapter 900: Chapter 520: In the Name of 100 Dominators

Ellie’s mother glanced at her and deeply sighed.

Although she was plagued by illness, she still did what she could manage.

Spending each day with her daughter brought her great joy, but the thought of relying on medicine just to cling to life made her very resistant.

Yet for her daughter, she persisted in taking the medication, and despite its bitterness, she swallowed it with a smile.

She wanted to spend more time with Ellie, not wanting her to be lonely and helpless. How alone she would be, and besides, Ellie hadn’t yet found a good household to take her in before her mother could bear to leave her alone.

Therefore, her mother cherished her life dearly, only wishing for a bit more time, just a bit more time to spend with Ellie…

...

Logan looked at the mother and daughter before him, sinking into deep thought.

He felt great pity for Ellie’s filial piety and sensibility, and he was also touched by her mother’s tenacity to keep living.

Perhaps he also knew that the mother just wanted to spend more time with Ellie, that’s why he was so…

This was a pair of pitiful mother and daughter, Ellie was so dutiful and sensible, yet it seemed as though the heavens still wanted to play a cruel joke on her by inflicting her mother with illness.

Even though Logan felt sympathy for Ellie, she didn’t see it that way.

Being the only one in the family able to earn money, and with the high cost of medical expenses daily for her mother’s care, her heart was still filled with joy, knowing at least her mother could live on.

The mother’s smile faded slightly as she covered her mouth with her hand and lightly coughed.

“Cough cough cough.”

The sound of coughing couldn’t help but tug at Logan’s heartstrings.

Logan suddenly remembered that he had recently concocted an elixir that could extend life, which would certainly be effective for Ellie’s mother.

Without a word, he took it out from his pocket.

A small porcelain bottle appeared in his hand, which he inverted, pouring out a brown elixir that looked quite extraordinary.

Upon seeing the elixir, Ellie knew it must be incredibly valuable, and a look of astonishment crossed her eyes.

Logan spoke up.

“Ellie, take this elixir for now, it has the effect of extending life. To the average person, it can strengthen the immune system and prolong life. For those chronically ill, it can alleviate the condition and lessen the pain,” he said.

After hearing Logan’s explanation, Ellie hesitated to accept the elixir, knowing its apparent value and the covetousness it provoked in many people.

Logan had already intervened once, keeping Young Master Johnson from troubling her. How could she accept the elixir on top of that? It would leave her in Logan’s debt.

With nothing to repay him, all she could offer was a simple meal.

In that moment, waves of guilt and inferiority surged within her.

Ellie felt she was deeply indebted to Logan.

“Benefactor, now that you’ve said as much, I dare not accept it. Please keep the elixir. You might need it in the future. The medication is enough to keep my mother alive. We have no need for such an expensive elixir, and I couldn’t repay you for it,” she said.

Logan saw the concern in Ellie’s eyes and realized she was someone reluctant to owe favors lightly, so he explained in greater detail.

“Ellie, you’ve misunderstood. This elixir is quite common and nothing special. I was just fooling you. This elixir just eases physical pain, which is why I wanted your mother to try it, so she wouldn’t have to suffer so much. I truly can’t bear it,” he continued.

Pausing, Logan added, “Take this elixir for now, and if a time comes when I might need your help, I might ask you for a favor. To me, this elixir is useless, but it can truly help you. Take it—no need for your mother to suffer if you don’t want to.”

Ellie found it impossible to argue with Logan and reluctantly accepted the elixir, knowing all too well the terrible pain her mother endured from her illness, hearing her mother’s coughing up blood at night. She longed to ease her mother’s pain.

But she didn’t know how to alleviate it.

Now, there was a way. Though she knew it was selfish to accept his elixir, she wished for her mother to suffer less.

So, she made a promise to Logan.

“Benefactor, if there is anything you need me for in the future, just say the word. Through fire and water, I will not hesitate to help with all my might. Once I’ve saved up, I will surely repay you.”

“I know this elixir must be valuable, you don’t have to deceive me. Anyone can see its uniqueness, so I don’t want to owe you anything. You’ve saved me twice already, and I’m a person who understands gratitude. Thus, if there ever comes a time when you need me, just one word and I’ll come running,” Ellie said.

As she spoke, Ellie stood up from the stool, then knelt down, giving Logan a gesture of thanks.

This sudden act caught Logan off guard. Knowing Ellie’s hardship, he didn’t want to see her bowing like this, so he quickly helped her up, saying.
