Chapter 131: Chapter 131 Am I, the Saint Heir?
“The first time there was one, the second time there were two, the third time there were three, following this growth curve, will there be four corpses next time?”
Roger thought to himself as he swung his shovel.
“Not much open space left, if they keep dying like this, I’m afraid there won’t be enough room.”
Being physically strong made digging graves fast, but for these bodies, Roger could only handle the basics; as for the rest of the nooks and crannies, he was powerless.
However, according to Anna, the whole graveyard had been affected, and ordinary people now definitely couldn’t barge in here.
Even after finishing all of this, Roger’s mind was still in a haze.
He had originally thought that tonight would be a fierce battle, but the outcome truly had been an unexpected turn of events; two incredibly powerful opponents had been easily killed by Anna, as if they were mere ants.
“Cough, cough, Anna, how did you do that just now?”
“Do what?” Anna asked with a puzzled look on her face.
“Er… I mean, how did you… kill them?”
“Oh,” Anna’s face showed a sudden realization. “You mean that?”
“They were so weak, of course, they just died with a wave of my hand.”
Then, as if she had realized something, “Oh, sorry, did I spoil some kind of thrill for you?”
“Like a cat playing with a mouse, always likes to toy with them before eating.”
“No, no, no!” Roger quickly shook his head.
“Not at all.”
But then he seemed to realize something.
“Anna, in your eyes… um, do you think I’m strong?”
Anna looked at Roger with confusion and then nodded her head.
“Of course.”
“A lion doesn’t befriend a lamb, to be my friend, you must also be a powerful being.”
Hearing Anna’s words, Roger gave an awkward smile.
“Although I am fully confident in myself, at least at this stage, I am still very weak.”
Anna examined Roger for a moment and then said seriously, “That’s because you’re humble.”
Alright, Roger sighed without expression and didn’t pursue the question further.
How exactly did she judge a person’s strength or weakness?
Soul? Potential?
Or something else?
“Have you remembered anything else recently?”
Roger still had no clues about the place Anna had been asking him to help find.
Anna shook her head, her gaze sweeping over the newly buried graves, “But no matter, I think it should be soon.”
After chatting casually for a while longer and cleaning up the stains on their clothes, Roger returned to the Hunter’s Cabin.
The notice board indicated that the friendship level between him and his neighbor Anna had risen again.
Without delving further into Anna’s identity, Roger gathered the items collected from the three individuals and examined them one by one.
In the end, Roger was left holding only a bizarrely shaped shell-like item in his hand.
The object was very strange in design, overall resembling a shell with a hollowed-out middle and a device on it similar to a dashboard.
However, there was no clear pointer inside, just a deep blue liquid.
Before Roger could figure it out, the notice board automatically provided a prompt.
Seashell Detection Device: A bizarre instrument created through Alchemy that, once activated, can detect regions with special energy fluctuations.
Limited number of uses, cannot be repaired if damaged.
Roger was quite interested in this object; it seemed to carry a touch of modern technology while also possessing the quirkiness characteristic of mystical items.
It was as if it was a combination of modern technology and mystic rituals.
After fiddling with it for a moment, Roger activated the device.
In an instant, the blue liquid inside turned a light red, and soon, some of the red gathered together to form a trembling needle.
But before Roger could continue observing, the red needle suddenly dispersed, followed by a light crackling sound from the item in his hands.
Roger turned it over, only to discover a new crack on the back of the object; he didn’t know if it had reached its usage limit or if it had been damaged in the recent battle.
There was no fixing a broken item, so Roger simply disassembled it, sorting through the bizarre components and specially marked metal, until an object somewhat familiar to him appeared before his eyes.
“This thing?”
He was startled and hastily took off the necklace around his neck, laying the two objects side by side.
Despite differences in size, they clearly had a common origin.
“What’s going on?”
“Could it be that they didn’t detect me but rather the object the female Murloc was carrying?”
Roger was surprised.
Could this object be something taken from the body of the so-called Saint Heir?
But how did the female Murloc come to possess this object?
Thinking back to Ivy’s seafaring mission, Roger speculated that the place where the female Murloc lived might be hiding unknown secrets!
What puzzled Roger the most was that, even though it was a transcendent artifact, the Hunter’s Cabin had not given any special evaluations.
Clearly, the necklace held a great secret, but it also posed a significant risk to Roger.
Continuing to wear it was out of the question, so hiding it somewhere was the first thing Roger needed to consider.
His gaze swept rapidly around the room before finally resting on the Storage Box not far away.
The time inside the Storage Box was frozen, and it was a separate space, so…
With this thought, Roger briskly walked over to the Storage Box and placed the necklace inside it.
“If I put it in here, I don’t have to worry about others tracking me down based on the energy fluctuations from this object,” he thought to himself and quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Without the Storage Box, he would have had to hide the necklace elsewhere.
Roger was keen to uncover the secrets behind the necklace and the female Murloc, but his current strength was insufficient; he resolved to attain transcendence first.
For the time being, the most crucial things for Roger were to increase his strength and to find a way to shield himself from the detection of the Three Holy Spirits.
Although Roger suspected that the necklace in his hands was related to this matter, it was still just a conjecture; he also fit the external description of the Saint Heir very well.
Having dealt with those three individuals, once the Three Holy Spirits dispatched others to investigate, there should be some buffer time. During this period, he must find a solution while also rapidly improving his own strength.
The sooner he attained transcendence, the safer he would be.
After getting everything in order, Roger did not rest but went to the Training Room and began to adapt to his new weapon.
The recent battle had made him aware of his deficiencies, and now he only wanted to complete the current stage of his training as quickly as possible!
In the Transcendent World, one never knew when a crisis might strike; a little more strength meant a greater hope for survival.
Roger planned to adjust his condition and take the Third Tier Tempering Potion first thing the next morning!
What do you think?
