Chapter 87: Chapter 087: Training Room
Henrik seemed reluctant to talk about such matters, speaking only a few sentences before clamping shut.
Yet those few sentences had a massive shock on Roger.
“So the so-called Saint Heir is just an experimental subject.”
With this information, Roger felt he should keep an even lower profile, silently making a fortune, and quietly progressing were the true paths to take.
He couldn’t hide too deeply, though; showing his face now and then, making his presence known was necessary. With his current level of strength, he truly had no business being reckless.
“And here I thought I was the Chosen One.” Roger curled his lip, shivering at the thought of lying on an experiment table being manipulated by others.
For now, the supposed guise of a forlorn Demon Hunting Family seemed somewhat useful.
Roger decided that he should use this opportunity with the Hunters Guild collaboration to gather as much information as possible.
After parting ways with Henrik, Roger went straight home, turned on his computer, adjusted the time, and then entered Bordeaux City.
“A century-rare hurricane hits Bordeaux City, affecting the city, county areas, and numerous towns…”
“The death toll continues to rise, countless homes collapse, and the people are displaced…”
He started searching, and messages like these kept popping up.
Roger casually read through them, taken aback by the recorded numbers and range of impact.
“Could such a terrifying range be man-made?” Roger shook his head.
If an individual really had such destructive power, then the Federal Government would find it impossible to hide, even if they wished to.
The scale of destruction was almost on the level of a nuclear bomb.
“Unless it coincided with a special natural cycle, harnessing the power of nature.”
Roger was more inclined to believe in this possibility.
Meanwhile, Henrik, who had left Baytown, made a phone call.
“How is it, no problems?”
“He’s young, but not bad in strength.” A somewhat elderly woman’s voice came from the other end, accompanied by the sound of pages flipping.
“Haven’t you figured out which family he specifically comes from?”
“Regarding the lineage of Demon Hunters, that’s become an unwritten rule…” Henrik extinguished his cigarette, his expression growing serious.
“We must not overstep our bounds.”
“Forget it…”
“It’s only temporary. You recruited him, so keep a close eye on him, don’t let any mishaps occur.”
The woman on the line was decisive.
“There’s another thing.”
“You were a bit rash in killing that guy last time.”
“Over recent years, the influence of Spellcasters has been growing, constantly trying to break free from the Hunters Guild. Without their support, the plight of the Demon Hunters will only get tougher.”
“Who would have thought, the very Hunters Guild named for our sake, yet now, Demon Hunters are almost being pushed out of this system.”
“Now, we can only handle the small fry, and our position within the Guild…”
The woman sighed.
“Next time you encounter such a problem, be more cautious, and inform me in advance,” the woman advised.
Henrik, usually so defiant, seemed much tamer in front of this woman, simply nodding repeatedly.
“By the way, your partner should have arrived at the branch. Take good care of him.”
“Him?”
Henrik’s face fell, “Shouldn’t it be a woman…”
Just then, the voice on the other end shot up, “With your character, who in the Guild would dare entrust their female student to you?!”
“Further.”
“Don’t even entertain crooked thoughts about men!”
“If I find out you dare to take him to women!”
The voice on the other end scoffed coldly.
“`
“Next time you come to headquarters, I’ll find a banshee from Evelder to sleep with you for ten days!”
Henrik’s face fell.
“What does that have to do with me?
“The girls in town are warm and hospitable…”
“Slap!”
The phone on the other end suddenly hung up.
“Ah…” Even this kind of thing is being monitored.
“Looks like I’ll have to sneak around to relax in the future.” As this thought struck Henrik, a new idea popped into his head.
“Why not take advantage of now…”
……
In front of the Hunter’s Cabin.
The sun was high in the sky as Roger walked into the cabin with an oversized travel bag on his back, placing the food and other items into the storage box.
He found an axe and saw and began working in the forest.
After a period of intense training, Roger’s physique had changed significantly, though not as muscular as a traditional strongman, he at least no longer looked skinny as before.
Having stacked all the timber behind the cabin, the rest was not Roger’s concern. He ate something at noon and resumed his training.
The information on the notice board reminded Roger that his physical condition had barely met the standards to begin the Green Grass Trial, and there was still much room for improvement.
After reaching level three, perhaps due to a certain improvement in physical fitness, the effects of the Pain Potion had lessened a lot, but for now, he had no better choice.
After completing a cycle of training, Roger focused on meditation.
He drank a Concentration Potion and sat on the bed. With the Hunter’s Cabin’s enhancement, his progress was much greater than before.
In the evening, Roger snuck out again; he walked around the graveyard a few times, but Anna was nowhere to be found.
He thought about it and decided that shouting out loud in a cemetery by himself was a bit too embarrassing. With no other choice, he returned to his cabin to continue training.
After midnight.
A faint light flickered above the cabin.
“Training Room has been constructed!”
Roger got out of bed and at the end of the wooden cabin, a new door had appeared. He pushed it open and entered a room not very large, about thirty or forty square meters.
But stepping inside, Roger felt some peculiar changes.
“This space…”
He tried moving quickly in the room, but no matter how he shifted, he seemed always to be right in the center of the room.
Without testing the room’s spatial limits, he tried to exit this strange state, and soon, the Training Room looked normal again.
In the corner, there was a small mat. Roger sensed it and understood its purpose.
It was specifically for meditation in the Training Room, where one could be highly focused, with effects comparable to taking a Concentration Potion.
Of course, the Concentration Potion could still be used in this situation.
The current Training Room was fairly basic, equipped only with the mat for meditation and a wooden dummy, nothing else.
The function of the Training Room was also quite straightforward.
It was to double.
Double the effects of training!
Roger tried training for a bit.
Then he couldn’t go back to the old ways anymore.
The thrill of sped-up progress was exhilarating.
“When can this place give a tenfold or eightfold increase in speed?” Roger thought greedily.
His training speed was already fast; with the addition of the wooden bed’s restorative effects and the Training Room, his pace was lifted even higher.
For the remaining two days of the holiday, he went nowhere and even put aside his physical training, fervently enhancing his spiritual power.
Finally, he managed to push his meditation to level 2.
