Chapter 285 Regret And Despair.

In a normal situation where there is no god king in the world, this last bit of resistance is usually uncoordinated. The world simply throws everything it has at them in hopes that something will work.

Fortunately, that is still the case here. His observations of the desperate and uncoordinated actions of the enemy alluded to that fact. Wrath also confirmed it.

Things could be worse if there was a god king. In that kind of situation, the attacks would be coordinated. It would be more difficult to resist.

He sighed in relief and said, "It is a good thing that there is no god king here."

Wrath didn't care about that. She said, "It doesn't matter. Once an invasion reaches the fourth stage, rarely will Yggdrasil lose. After all, they have been preparing for this final battle right from the start."

He wasn't at the front lines, so it wasn't his turn to engage with the enemies yet. It was the turn of the robot army.

But he could still see the large wave of attacks that the robot army was enduring. Every creature was just throwing themselves at the enemy without fear or a care for their lives.

He was in awe when he saw this. He said to Wrath, "I can't believe that Icon gave up this kind of power."

Wrath was silent for a while. Then she said, "He was a good man. He didn't want the lives of people to be controlled by the whims of a single person."

Kelvin snorted. "Good or not, he was weak."

"If he had been the god king of Earth-11, he would have led us to ruin because he wasn't fit to be our leader and protector. He was too weak to make the hard decisions."

Wrath explained, "But all he did, he did for the people of Earth. That has to count for something."

He asked in return, "And where has that led us? The incursion didn't end, and everyone now has to risk their lives in the tower of destiny. His intentions might be good, but the repercussions of his actions are terrible."

"Even if things were so bad and he didn't want someone to control the fate and lives of others, he should have taken the mantle and responsibility upon himself and made sure that no one abused that responsibility."

Wrath didn't refute him. She was silent as she pondered his words.

But then he chuckled and said, "Look at what I'm saying. I should thank him for chickening out. If he hadn't done that, I wouldn't have had this opportunity."

The ground shook as he said that.

It was just the start. The intensity of the shaking only increased over time. It increased with the intensity of the attacks of every being in the world.

The fighting was intense and chaotic. The human army was too outnumbered. It didn't help that the environment wasn't frozen like the last battle. So the enemies weren't slowed down or weakened by the cold.

Millions of enemies were quickly becoming tens of millions and then hundreds of millions. All of them were rushing forward with all their might to kill the humans.

The ground and air were full of enemies. They formed an ocean of bodies on the ground and in the air. They blocked out the sun, so it was only a matter of time before they swallowed the human army too.

Kelvin didn't think they could withstand the onslaught of attacks. In fact, he expected the human army to be buried very soon. After all, they were fighting the whole world.

Apparently, he wasn't the only one who thought so. Command also thought that the army needed help. So they let loose fire from the sky.

Pillars of fire fell down from the sky and smashed into the tides of enemies and incinerated them.

There were ten red pillars of fire. They moved across the multitude of enemies like ten erasers erasing figures on paper.

After 30 minutes, when the ten pillars of fire were exhausted, they disappeared only to be replaced by ten more pillars. These new pillars resumed the work of destroying the resistance of the world of Lignum.

This happened non-stop. There were always ten pillars of fire causing wanton destruction and setting the forest on fire.

The death rate of the enemy was catastrophic. But it didn't affect their morale one bit.

The morale of the enemies remained at a steady 100%. They didn't feel fear even when a pillar of fire was headed towards them.

The elven army had scattered the last time the pillars of fire were used against them. But this time, they rushed into the pillar of fire without fear. Enjoy more content from My Virtual Library Empire

The pillars of fire destroyed the bulk of the resistance of the world, leaving crumbs to trickle through. These crumbs were mercilessly put down by the human army with flamethrowers, radiation guns, rail guns, hammers of dawn, guns, missiles, and weapons of all kinds.

It was during this hectic fight that the earth cracked open and a massive entity came out of it.

The crack was a large and deep wound in the ground that almost tore the continent into two. It definitely swallowed up a lot of sand and creatures.

Fortunately, the crack appeared in a location that was very far from the battlefield. It was thousands of kilometers away. Even so, the humans could still see the green giant that came out of the crack.@@novelbin@@

The green giant was as tall as a mountain so it was visible despite the large distance. But her figure was hazy, so not much else could be seen about her.

It was as if she was being looked through a cloudy lens. It didn't help that she was surrounded by green light full of phantom creatures.

As soon as she appeared, a smaller figure also appeared before her. An image of an actively erupting volcano appeared around the small figure briefly before the small figure smashed into the green giant.

The collision was explosive. Thunder boomed through the air, and the ground shook violently.

The sound of the thunder was so loud that it stunned and dazed many creatures. Insects and birds fell from the sky after they were stunned.

The world was thrown into another round and another type of uproar. Unlike the previous uproar, which was the illogical dedication of all living beings to eradicate the human soldiers at all costs, this uproar targeted both the inhabitants of the world and the human soldiers.

The fight between the two gods was so charged that it affected the atmosphere and the weather. Soon the sky became cloudy and began to rain. Lightning and thunder boomed all over the Lignum world.

The thunderstorm was large and covered a large proportion of the Lignum world. But this was just the beginning of the repercussions of their fights.

Plant and animal life around the two divine beings began to grow rapidly and mutate in strange ways. They prospered, and their population increased too. But they also began fighting each other for no reason.

As everyone and everything became violent with each other, smoke and ash saturated the air and made it difficult to breathe.

The Lignum world was simultaneously becoming a paradise for living things and a hell on earth. It displayed the struggle between the forces of life and violence.

Yet, the fighting between the world and the human army didn't stop. Only the creatures close to the divine fight were affected. The rest of them were still rushing over to kill the humans.

What's worse is that the trees got some kind of boost and became much stronger. They became so strong that the pillars from the sky couldn't kill them anymore.

The spear of glory could only injure them, but they would heal easily from it. The remaining human demigod and the divine golems had to come out to assist in the defense.

This situation continued for hours and days. No one could sleep or rest because of the incessant thunderclaps and the fire falling down from the sky.

Kelvin was solemn throughout this experience. He was constantly watching out for danger because he knew what he experienced when demigods decided to interfere in the fight between mortals.

He was expecting something worse to happen if the gods decided to interfere. He was also hoping fervently that Aganju would win because if he lost, then the human army would be doomed.

He waited with his heart in his throat as the two divine beings moved beyond the horizon to continue their fight. He could see them, but he could see and hear the repercussions of their fight in the world around him.

What he was dreading didn't happen, though. None of the two gods bothered with their fight.

Four days later, there was a sudden change in the sky. The sky suddenly turned from blue to green. The rain also ended and the clouds dispersed.
