Deviant: No Longer Human

Chapter 655 Meeting Daughter-in-law or Daughter-in-laws?

"Mother."

Wang Xiao barged into the room without a second thought—a rookie mistake. If he'd read more novels, he'd know this was the kind of setup that screamed trouble.

"Eh...Xiao Wang!?"

Xinyue Zhilan's voice pitched up in shock, her eyes wide. She stood by the bed, sucking in a sharp breath, starkly undressed except for a thin set of underwear that did nothing to hide her milky-white body.

"..."

Wang Xiao's brain short-circuited. Sure, he knew his sisters looked good—hell, the family genes were no joke—but today, he couldn't help but realize that most of those genes were clearly stockpiled in her. His eyes darted around the room as if searching for answers, but he quickly closed the door shut, retreating to save what was left of his dignity (and his sanity).

When he returned a few minutes later, she was fully wrapped in a modest nightgown. Still, Wang Xiao couldn't shake the awkward image burned into his mind.

"What do you want?" Xinyue Zhilan asked, her tone as sharp as ever, though her appearance screamed anything but stern authority now.

"..."

Wang Xiao blinked. Why the hell did she look younger every time he saw her? It was almost unnatural. Her usual commanding aura had softened, replaced by something... youthful, even mischievous. Was she on some secret anti-aging pill or a hot mom glow-up regimen?

Of course, the truth was simpler: Xinyue Zhilan was finally living the stress-free life. Her bratty kid was back home, she was swimming in cash, and all the annoying dramas in her life had been wrapped up neatly with a bow. Less stress equals better skin, or so they say—but Wang Xiao wouldn't know a damn thing about that.

All he could figure out was that she looked way too good for his peace of mind.

"...Check this." Without a word of explanation, Wang Xiao shoved what looked like a certificate into Xinyue Zhilan's hands.

"What now?" she groaned, rubbing her temples. She was already at the end of her patience, and this guy was hellbent on driving her straight into the ground. Grabbing the paper, she ran her eyes over it with a frown.

The more she read, the more her face twisted like she'd bitten into a lemon.

"..." Her gaze snapped up to Wang Xiao, deadpan and utterly done. "Xiao Wang... can you not? I'm too tired for your pranks today."

But Wang Xiao just smiled like an idiot, completely unfazed. That damn smile. Zhilan faltered, her confidence wavering for a second. She was still in denial. Of course, she was—he had just handed her proof of Zhenxi's parental rights and a DNA test.

"It's legit. You can call the hospital if you don't believe me." His tone was casual, like he'd just mentioned the weather.

"..." Xinyue Zhilan frowned, rubbing her temples harder, as if massaging out the years this news had added to her face. Only one thought was echoing in her head: "How...?"

"Well... that's complicated," Wang Xiao admitted with a grin, scratching the back of his head. He launched into an explanation so ridiculous Zhilan felt like her brain was melting.

The more she listened, the clearer it became: she didn't know her son at all.

Drugging someone? Dragging them into some other mess? What the hell is wrong with her son?!

She groaned, holding her forehead like it was the only thing keeping her head from exploding.

Wang Xiao braced himself. He fully expected a lecture, a verbal lashing, maybe even a good beating. Instead, she just sighed and waved him off.

"You... go outside and wait."

"Okay," Wang Xiao replied, grinning like he'd just delivered a ticking time bomb and walked away unscathed. He knew he'd just dropped a new headache in her lap, but hey, not his problem anymore.

______

Outside, Wang Xiao wandered back into the living room, where Zhenxi was sprawled over the back of a giant panda she'd stolen from someone's zoo.

"..."

Wang Xiao's eye twitched. He really wanted to cook that panda alive, but before he could, Wang Xueying added in.

"How'd it go?" she asked, her curiosity burning like a bonfire.

"Don't know." He shrugged and casually moved behind her.

"Huh?—Hey, restraint, caution? Do those words exist in your life?" she yelped as his hand sneaked under her top, cupping her chest without a care in the world.

"What are you doing...?Mei's right there!" Xueying hissed, her face glowing red, though her glare at Mei had no bite.

Mei, as expected, turned her head to "mind her business."

"Haha," Wang Xiao laughed, leaning in close. "Weren't you the chatterbox earlier? What happened now? Got nothing to say, huh?"

Xueying squirmed, butterflies swarming in her stomach. Sure, she'd been a bit mouthy earlier when Zhilan brushed past Wang Xiao like he didn't exist, but this was too much!

"Bah... all this over a little teasing?" she grumbled, her voice shaky.

Still, part of her brain was spinning at what would happen if Zhilan walked in on this. Sure, Wang Xiao could smooth things over, but her? She'd be dead on the spot! Then again, Wang Xiao always had some ridiculous trump card up his sleeve. Maybe he'd fix things... eventually.

"Mmmghhh..."

Before she could fully think it through, Wang Xiao had her sprawled out on the dining table, his lips on hers. Her protests melted into soft moans, and she started kissing him back instinctively.

"..."

Wang Mei glanced at them like she was watching a nature documentary—two wild animals going at it. She shook her head with a bitter smile. No way she was getting involved.

The last time she said anything, Wang Xiao dragged her into the party. Lesson learned. This time, silence was the best option.

_____

By the time Xinyue Zhilan finally came downstairs, it was a full hour later. Surprisingly, there was no trace of Wang Xueying. Only Wang Xiao and Wang Mei sat in the living room, looking way too innocent for their own good.

Zhilan wrinkled her nose, an odd feeling prickling at her instincts, but she had bigger headaches on her mind.

Her gaze on Wang Xiao, who was playing with Zhenxi like some carefree babysitter. The complicated look on her face betrayed her thoughts—she wasn't sure whether to scold him, thank him, or just yeet him out of her house entirely.

Without a word, she grabbed the two troublemakers, stuffed them into the car, and started driving toward Fu Yuxin's house.

"..."

Wang Xiao, strategically seated in the backseat with a prime view of his handiwork, was barely holding back a chuckle. His shoulders shook as he suppressed the urge to laugh outright. He couldn't help but wonder why this woman—of all people—was dragging him to Fu Yuxin's house.

Anyone else in his position would probably be sweating bullets, heart pounding, worried about what kind of landmine they were about to step on.

But not Wang Xiao.

Nope, this guy was sitting there like it was a VIP ride to entertainment central, grinning to himself, even satisfied with how things were progressing.

"Do you have a girlfriend...?"

The question came out of nowhere. Xinyue Zhilan, gripping the steering wheel, bit her lip and threw it out there like a grenade, all while trying to keep a straight face.

"Hm?" Wang Xiao blinked, surprised by the sudden ambush, but casually nodded like it was no big deal.

Hiss~!

Xinyue Zhilan sucked in a cold breath through her teeth, her grip on the wheel tightening. She had always thought raising daughters was hard—constantly shielding them from bad influences, creepy guys, and God knows what else.

But sons? Sons were worse.

Raising a son, she realized, was like trying to keep a tiger cub from growing up and eating someone.@@novelbin@@

"What's her name?" Xinyue Zhilan ventured further, her voice tinged with a mix of curiosity and dread.

"Uh... which one?" Wang Xiao replied casually, as if he was asking her to pass the soy sauce.

Screech!
