Chapter 247 247: Assassins from the Monarch
Max moved swiftly, scaling a tree in a few fluid motions. His body blended into the darkness, his presence completely erased by his strong soul force.
The sun was about to set and it was a perfect moment to blend in the leaves of the tress.
Now hidden among the thick branches, he waited and peered down.
A few minutes later—
They arrived.
The assassins from the Monarch—figures cloaked in black hoodie, moving with lethal precision—entered the area. Their eyes scanned the surroundings. Their steps were silent, calculated.
They weren't reckless.
Max watched as they communicated in signals, their fingers flicking subtly as they spread out, scouting the area with methodical efficiency.
And at that moment, Max finally got a clear look at them.
His eyes narrowed.
He recognized three of them.
Abby. Billy. Jessica.
The same ones he had fought during the dungeon break incident.
A ghost of a smirk flickered on his lips. Familiar faces.
But then—his gaze shifted.
Two others.
Their presence stood out immediately.
They weren't just any assassins.
Their aura was heavier, stronger.
Seeker Rank.
One at Level 1. The other at Level 2.
Max frowned. 'They sent Seekers after me?'
For a moment, he mused.
He was supposed to be a heavily injured kid.
Left barely alive.
And yet, the Young Monarch hadn't underestimated him. Not even slightly.
'He truly is one ruthless person.'
His smirk widened.
Max was about to move.
His muscles tensed, his body poised to strike from the shadows.
Then—
He froze.
'There's another one?'
His breath slowed. His senses sharpened.
It wasn't just a feeling. His Three-Dimensional Body had definitely picked up something—someone.
But this person wasn't with the five assassins below.
They were farther. Watching. Waiting. Hidden.
And that wasn't the worst part.
Max's skin prickled with unease. A chill ran down his spine.
He focused again, trying to see their strength.
But—
Nothing.
He couldn't gauge their strength.
At his level, that only meant one thing—this person was far stronger than him.
Not on the level of the Four Super Families or the Top Five Guild Leaders, but still…
Dangerous.
'Middle levels of Seeker Rank? Maybe the peak?'
His expressions darkened.
He had complete confidence in his abilities. If he went all out, he could take down a Level 2 Seeker Rank opponent.
But anything beyond that?
He'd have to run.
'I can't fight recklessly here.'
Max forced himself to stay still, his mind working fast.
A plan. He needed a plan.
The five assassins were already a problem. Two Seeker Rank experts among them made this a high-risk battle.
But the real issue?
The unknown presence.
A potential Peak Seeker Rank expert lurking just beyond sight, watching. Waiting.
That was far more dangerous than the ones actively searching for him.
But what bothered Max the most—
Why was this person hiding?
If they were here to kill him, why not move openly like the others?
Were they waiting for something? Studying him?
Or—
Had they not sensed his presence?
Max's brows furrowed.
'Hey, blob, with my soul force hiding my presence, who can still sense me?'
He needed to know. Now.
"Currently, you are in the Orange Soul Stage."
Max's eyes widened slightly.
'There are different levels for souls too?'
This was new. He had never heard of anything like this before.
The blob chuckled.
"The Lower Domain might not know about the different levels of Soul Force, but they do exist."
Then, it began explaining.
"They, from weakest to strongest, are: Red Soul, Orange Soul, Yellow Soul, Green Soul, Blue Soul, Black Soul, and lastly, the White Soul."
It added, "Most people in the East Region are at the Red Soul stage, but some possess strong Soul Force while others have very weak Soul Force within the same stage. There are only a handful of individuals who possess an Orange Soul, and they are the leaders of the Top Five Guilds and Four Super Families."
"When you absorbed my master's Soul Force, your own increased tremendously and reached the Orange Soul stage," the blob concluded.
Max was flabbergasted. 'You mean to say my Soul Force is at the same level as the leaders of the East Region?'

"There is nothing shocking about it," the blob said with a smirk. "When my master was at the very peak of his power, he was just one step away from reaching the White Soul. You absorbed a portion of his Soul Force, so it was only natural that your own would increase significantly. It isn't surprising that you've reached the Orange Soul stage."
It added, "Moreover, there are only two scenarios where a person's Soul Force increases significantly. One is before reaching the Adept Rank, when they open their Soul Palace, and the other is at the Expert Rank, where the current leaders of the Valora Continent stand."
Max nodded in understanding, but he was still somewhat shocked that his Soul Force was this strong.
But soon his thoughts sharpened, his smirk growing.
'With my Soul Force at the Orange Soul stage…'
The Peak Seeker Rank assassin hiding in the shadows—
'Couldn't sense me.'
Their Soul Force would still be at Red Soul stage, like the rest of the East Region. There was no way they could detect his presence.
Which meant…
'The five assassins searching for me are just bait.'
A trap.
A calculated setup designed to force him into revealing himself.
The Monarch's forces had come prepared—far more prepared than he had initially thought.
But now, he understood the game.
They were expecting him to panic. To fight. To run.
But Max grinned.
'If they think I'll play by their rules… they're dead wrong.'
Now that he understood their plan, the game had changed.
They thought they were hunting him.
They had no idea…
He was about to hunt them.
His eyes locked onto his first targets.
Abby. Billy. Jessica.
All three were at the Peak of Adept Rank—strong, but not strong enough.
More importantly—he knew them.
He had fought them before. He knew their skills and abilities.
They were his easiest kills.
But it had to be fast.
Swift. Silent. Merciless.
Before the hidden Seeker Rank assassin lurking in the distance could react—
He would have to be done.
What do you think?
