Chapter 250: An Unexpected Turn of Events
Jessica moved cautiously, her every step measured.
Her mind was sharp, her instincts on edge.
She knew something was wrong.
Max should have been hiding, but instead, they were being hunted.
And if it wasn't Max… then someone else was out there.
That thought alone was terrifying.
Then—
She saw it.
Blood.
A few dark red drops, scattered on the ground near a tree.
Her eyes narrowed.
'Blood?'
Her body tensed as she stepped forward, examining the area.
Then—more blood.
On the tree bark.
On the trunk.
Above.
A trail.
And then, it clicked.
'Max.'
She didn't rush.
She didn't immediately climb the tree to confirm.
Instead—she acted smart.
Her hand flicked to her holowatch.
A silent alert was sent.
A ping to the others, marking her location.
If this was truly Max, they needed to move together.
If it was a trap… she wouldn't fall for it alone.
Now, all she had to do—
Was wait.
Jessica's silent signal didn't take long to bring reinforcements.
In a matter of seconds, two figures descended upon the scene.
Aron and the scarred-faced man.
Their eyes were sharp, their movements precise.
"What happened?" Aron's voice was low, controlled. "Did you find him?"
Jessica nodded, pointing to the blood-stained tree bark and the dark red trail on the ground.
Aron's gaze hardened.
A subtle hand signal.
Silence. Stealth. Precision.
Without wasting a second, he moved.
His body floated upward, his energy carefully restrained, his every motion soundless.
Then—
He saw it.
A young man with white hair.
Bloodied. Motionless.
His clothes were drenched in crimson, his lifeless eyes staring into nothingness.
But he wasn't dead.
He was healing. Slowly. Weakly.
A smile spread across Aron's face.
'Found you.'
With deadly efficiency, he moved.
Before the clone could react, Aron appeared before him in an instant.
A flash of movement.
A single strike.
Pinned.
The clone was slammed into the tree trunk, locked in place.
Aron's fingers dug into its throat, immobilizing it.
His voice was calm. Cold. Absolute.
"Move—and you shall be beheaded."
Aron laughed, his grip tightening slightly around Max's clone.
"Everyone, see this!"
His voice carried confidence, absolute certainty that the hunt had ended.
A moment later, Jessica and the scarred-faced man, Jonas, joined him atop the tree.
Their eyes fell upon Max's bloodied figure.
Jonas's smile turned sinister.
Jessica, however, sighed in relief.
But that relief didn't last.
Her face suddenly paled.
Her breath caught in her throat.
Then—her voice shook.
"Where is Abby?"
A heavy silence followed.
Aron's expression shifted slightly, a frown forming.
"Why isn't she here?" He muttered, eyes narrowing. "Did she not see the alert?"
His gaze snapped toward Jonas.
"Look around. Find her. See if she's in trouble."
Then—his voice lowered, his tone turning serious.
"With Max in this state, my previous speculation was right."
His fingers twitched, and his grip on Max's clone tightened slightly.
"Someone else killed Billy."
He exhaled. "And if that same person went after Abby…"
His eyes darkened.
"Jonas, go now. Find her."
Jonas nodded immediately, his figure disappearing into the trees.
Jessica turned toward Aron, her voice firm, decisive.
"Kill him and let's go back."
She didn't want to stay here any longer. Something wasn't right.
But Aron?
He smirked.
His expression shifted—not to victory, but to something else.
Something greedy.
Jessica's frown deepened.
"Kill him? That would be a waste."
Jessica's eyes narrowed.
"What do you mean?"
Aron's smile widened.
His voice turned low, almost conspiratorial.
"That… you'll see soon enough."
Just then—
A figure appeared.
Tall. Broad-shouldered. Menacing.
A middle-aged man with long black hair, his wrinkled face carved with deep lines of experience and cruelty.
But most importantly—
His aura was suffocating.
The peak of Seeker Rank.
Jessica's expression instantly darkened.
Her instincts screamed.

Something was wrong. Very, very wrong.
"We were ordered to kill Max, not take his body to some research lab."
Her voice was sharp, laced with tension.
But Aron?
He smiled.
Calm. Unbothered. As if nothing was amiss.
"We know." He said casually.
Then, his grin widened.
"But nobody will know about it."
Jessica's heart skipped a beat.
"What do you mean… 'nobody'?"
Her feet shifted, taking an instinctive step back.
Then—
A blur of movement.
Too fast.
The middle-aged man materialized behind her.
Her eyes widened in horror.
A cold touch on her back.
Then—
BOOM!
A drilling force erupted from his hand.
Jessica's back was torn apart.
Her body twisted, convulsed—then exploded into pieces.
Blood. Flesh. Bones.
All scattered into the wind.
The trees shook from the sheer force.
And just like that—
Jessica was gone.
Erased in an instant.
Aron's smile never wavered.
He sighed, shaking his head as he looked at the remains of Jessica.
"Uncle Ron, I've always told you—this is too brutal." His tone was casual, almost amused. "At least give the members of Monarch a swift death."
Uncle Ron laughed coldly, his wrinkled face twisting into a sinister grin.
"Hmph. It doesn't matter." His eyes gleamed as they fell upon Max's clone, still pinned to the tree.
His voice lowered.
"Don't let him die. His secrets are more valuable than his life. But for now, we need him alive."
Aron nodded, pulling a small pill from his storage ring.
Without hesitation, he forced it into Max's mouth.
"Done." He wiped his hands. "With this, he'll recover in a few hours."
Uncle Ron nodded. Satisfied.
Then, his gaze swept the surroundings.
His expression darkened.
"I don't sense Abby's aura anywhere."
His voice was flat. Cold.
"She's probably been taken care of by the same one who killed Billy."
Aron's grin widened.
"That's why I sent Jonas to look for her."
Uncle Ron continued, his tone serious.
"I don't know if this mystery person is only after the twin duo, so after taking care of Jonas, you need to leave immediately."
Aron chuckled.
"Oh, don't worry, Uncle. I already planned for this."
His body shifted slightly, the air around him crackling with anticipation.
"Now, I'll go take care of Jonas."
And with that—
He vanished.
Uncle Ron watched him go, then turned back to Max's motionless body.
His eyes burned with ambition.
"You will be our key to dethroning Monarch."
Then—
He disappeared into the night.
What do you think?
