Divine Convenience Store

Chapter 33 Offering 10,000 Spirit Stones To Buy the Store

Lin Mo watched as the Pavilion Master's sharp gaze bored into him. Her aged eyes shining like polished gems felt like they could see through all his carefully constructed defenses.

His customer service smile wavered slightly, replaced by a more genuine, albeit nervous, expression. He barely suppressed the urge to shift uncomfortably under that scrutiny. He felt as if she could see the gears turning in his head. She could see the methods that he used against her granddaughter.

'This is not good. Her intelligence is on another level. This is probably how those legendary tacticians feel when they step onto the battlefield and see themselves facing an army several times stronger than them,' Lin Mo thought as his mind struggled to maintain the calm facade that he had been showing her ever since these group of powerful women of the Verdant Sky Pavilion stepped into his shop.

He resisted the urge to reach behind him and grab the nearest item for protection.

He had faced an arrogant young master in Yan Wei easily and respectfully maintained his calmness in Yan Chen's presence but the Pavilion Master before him was an entirely different beast.

Her presence was a subtle blend of wisdom, strength, and a touch of amusement that made him both wary and intrigued. It's like looking into the abyss and the abyss is smiling back. One wrong move and the old woman's impression of him would flip.

The silence stretched, broken only by the soft hum of the store's magical lighting and the clinking of the sharp heels of the elated Yu Qingyan on the tiled floors of the store.@@novelbin@@

Standing a step behind the Pavilion Master, the silent beauty, Jing'er had produced a luxurious spatial bag, her stoic expression a perfect complement to her master's commanding presence.

"I must admit. Your store is one of a kind, Shopkeeper and the way you pitch your wares is more than excellent," The Pavilion Master finally said, her voice smooth yet heavy. It's as if she's stamping him with her review of the store.

She was currently holding the Radiant Whisper Device that Liu Xiaoyu had recently showcased. She wasn't checking its functionality or design. She was simply holding it as if waiting for an answer to a question that she had already been thinking about since she stepped into the place.

"Most merchants would simply seek profit, but you seem to be… cultivating something more than just transactions. Is it influence?"

Lin Mo blinked, doing his best to maintain his composure. He was convinced. The old woman was extremely sharp. From the way her expression shifted, he couldn't help but think that she already figured out the trick of not labeling the required spirit stone quality from the products correctly.

"We aim to provide solutions and opportunities to our esteemed customers, dear customer. Profit is but one consequence of providing value to our community."

He knew he was being too vague but he couldn't reveal anything more. He had to maintain the mystique of the store if he was to survive in this world.

Nevertheless, if they asked him about the owner of the store, he'd no doubt point at Taihao who was probably watching from wherever he was.

The Pavilion Master's lips twitched in a subtle smile. "Indeed. You seem to have a talent for turning even the most mundane of items into objects of desire. My granddaughter was completely enthralled with your store the moment she stepped foot into it. It's like you know what she needs before she even realizes it." Her eyes then narrowed to a slit and her words echoed within his mind rather than through hearing, "However, Shopkeeper, you may have unique wares but you shouldn't trick your customers into spending more than the fair price of your products. I'm willing to let it slide today but can you give me your word that you will change it?"

Lin Mo raised an eyebrow, his eyes flicking towards Yu Qingyan who was now busy testing the limits of the new Heavenly Curry Burst noodles on her taste buds as if she was trying to figure out what was so special about it by over-analyzing its flavor.

He suppressed a chuckle, glancing back at the Pavilion Master as he nodded, "I understand. I simply offer what I believe is suitable for my customers, dear customer. If that happens to align with their personal preferences, then it's simply a matter of providing 'convenience' to them. As the name of our store suggests. As for the prices, I apologize but we're not the ones who set it up. I will properly convey your thoughts, however."

The Pavilion Master's smile widened slightly. Her interest was clearly piqued. "Is that so? Very well."

She then set aside the device and allowed to check out the items that she bought.

It came to a total of 240 Spirit Stones and she paid for it with high-grade Spirit Stones as well.

After Lin Mo packed and handed the bag containing their purchase to them, the Pavilion Master gestured to Jing'er who came closer and placed a luxurious spatial bag on top of the counter.

He didn't need to check its contents to know that it was filled with more high-grade spirit stones.

"By the way, Shopkeeper. I believe we're not done here yet."

Lin Mo pretended to be surprised before putting on his business-like smile, "Oh? How can I help you, dear customer?"

"You mentioned that you're not the one responsible for the price tag of your items. Does that mean you're only an employee here? A hired hand to manage the store?"

"You can say that."

"Can you call the owner of this establishment?"

"I'm afraid it is impossible. They are busy beings. May I ask what this is about?" Lin Mo kept his calm as he endured the scrutiny from the Pavilion Master's eyes.

He understood what she was trying to do here. She's trying to see if she can buy the store from the owner.

He's certain that she already heard about the rumors of the divine being that had been sighted in this store but she's trying to confirm it in this way.

With a hint of disappointment in her eyes, the Pavilion Master gestured for Jing'er to pick up the spatial bag again, "A shame. I brought this today as I initially wanted to buy a few trinkets but I have been convinced by your store to provide an even greater purpose. This bag contains 10,000 spirit stones. It may not be enough but it will be a good initial offer, don't you think so? Can you relay that I, the Pavilion Master of the Verdant Sky Pavilion, am offering to buy your store in order to continue this great endeavor?"

Lin Mo's smile faltered as his lips twitched. How should he answer? Should he wait for another system prompt to instruct him on what to do? Or should he start making decisions by himself?

He was still a powerless nobody but considering he was already aware of what kind of answer Taihao or anyone from the Divine Pantheon would give, he could turn this around in his favor.

It's also a chance for him to build a little bit of a reputation under his name.
