Chapter 99: Chapter 99 It’s time for you, the mascot, to take charge!
“Ah?!” Mom was instantly energized, “Haoer is writing scripts now? Wow, he’s really making something of himself! I knew our family’s bloodline wouldn’t disappoint!”
“Heh heh, this rascal,” Dad chuckled, “it’s strange how he’s grown up so suddenly, I’m still not quite used to it.”
“It’s only you who’s always looking down on him,” Mom retorted, pouting, “and let me tell you, from now on you’re not allowed to scold him for no reason. He’s grown up, hear me?”
“I’m just afraid he won’t be motivated,” Dad mumbled, “Now that he’s actually doing something legitimate, why would I still scold him?”
“That’s more like it,” Mom said and looked back at her phone. After a while, she exclaimed in surprise, “Hey, look! The agent for the big star Ice Princess just said that they might have taken on a new movie, a major production worth hundreds of millions!”
“Enough already, stop fantasizing about all that,” Dad firmly returned to his room, “Do you really think a big star would have anything to do with our Haoer? Get to sleep!”
…
The next morning.
“Hahaha! Finally got it all out!” Ning Weida and Zeng Wenhui slapped their hands together and cheered at last!
The three of them had stayed up all night and only now had finally completed the whole song.
“Quick, quick, let’s listen to it from the start again!” Although he hadn’t slept all night, Zeng Wenhui’s eyes were still bright as light bulbs, he urged excitedly, “I didn’t feel much when I first heard Miss Ice Princess’s friend singing it, but after hearing Miss Ice Princess finish it, this song, tsk tsk, truly unbeatable! Definitely going to be a hit all over!”
“Of course!” Ning Weida pressed the play button again, and after another listen, they high-fived each other, “Perfect!”
“Haha, this catch is really huge!” Ning Weida laughed, “Once Miss Ice Princess wakes up, we must get her to invite this guy over. He’s a sheer genius, I can hardly believe an outsider could produce such a great song!”
They were still celebrating when Zhang Baohuang pushed the door open and came in, bursting with excitement, “Hahaha! Great news! All those songs got approved! The military just gave the go-ahead to use them!”
Caught off guard, Ning Weida asked in surprise, “Zhang, what’s got you so happy? Those songs? Did you guys pick up a lot of good songs these last two days?”
“You guys don’t know yet?” Zhang Baohuang seemed just as baffled, “Didn’t Miss Ice Princess tell you? Wang Hao just sold me twelve songs all at once, for 300,000 in a package deal! Damn, now I understand what ‘genius’ really means!”
Now it was Ning Weida’s turn to be dumbfounded, “What did you just say?! Wang Hao sold you twelve songs at once?! For 300,000?!”
Zeng Wenhui was incredulous, “Are you kidding me?! You think such good songs grow on cabbages?! Old Ning and I slaved all night just to polish one song, and now you’re telling me, Wang Hao sold you twelve?!”
“That’s right,” Zhang Baohuang said with a proud smile, “He’s definitely a divine talent, I still can’t believe this isn’t a dream!”
“I!” Zeng Wenhui’s jaw almost dropped to the floor, then he exclaimed crazily, “Damn, I just have a friend who needs a theme song for a TV drama, when can you introduce me?!”
“Heh heh, you want to meet him?” Zhang Baohuang was now smug, “Beg me! I’ve added him on WeChat!”
“Fuck!” Zeng Wenhui lost all concern for his image, leaping up to try and snatch Zhang Baohuang’s phone, “Give me his WeChat! Or I’m chopping you up!”
“Nope, not giving, just to piss you off!”
…
In the morning after getting up and completely dressing up, Wang Hao returned to his room and pulled out the ‘Luck Dice’: “Dice brother, today’s Monday! Need a lucky start, here we go!”
Clatter, the Luck Dice tumbled across the table and quickly came to a stop.
Wang Hao looked and burst out laughing—Hahaha! Another lucky day!
Hope today keeps up the good momentum! Just one more step, just the final stretch!
First, he opened Fengyun Chinese Network, logged into the author backend, “Let’s upload the book, then check the stats, I wonder how many bookmarks there are—holy crap! Already 1276 bookmarks?! That’s a great growth rate!”
It had only been a week, and already bookmarks surged to over twelve hundred, which could be described as heaven-defying!
To think, it’s not even fifty thousand words yet, achieving such results for a new book with so few words is nearly miraculous!
Truly a divine book! Absolutely incredible!
“Today’s Monday, gotta check the rankings, no idea if there’s any chance…” After checking the bookmarks, Wang Hao opened the novel page, first looked at the rewards—Alright, not bad, six people rewarded. Then he checked the recommendation tickets, 268 today, passable.
Lastly, he started checking the rankings.
First the genre page for new fantasy novels—Break the Heavens currently ranks fourth, this was acceptable.
Next, checked the main page’s total list, which ranked far down—sixteenth!
“Without recommendations, it just doesn’t work,” Wang Hao shook his head helplessly, “Exposure is ultimately too low, can’t compete with those having major recommendations, it seems there’s little hope to hit the front page this week.”@@novelbin@@
The front page list, where the big guns gather!
Not to mention others, those major recommendation spots, like genre strong push or homepage features, or even Sanjiang list, the promotional effect of those can be imagined.
And what does Wang Hao have now?
He had no recommendations, just a new book list on the genre page. Exaggeration aside, the exposure was completely not on the same level, it was simply like the overwhelming difference between a mouse and a cat.
“Ah well, no need to fret about this yet,” Wang Hao turned off the computer, off to the film crew!
Soon arriving at Zhonghai Avenue’s shopping mall, Wang Hao headed straight to the sixth floor, but upon arriving, he was stunned…
“Damn, where’s the film crew?!” Wang Hao rubbed his eyes vigorously—Damn it, did the film crew move away?!
While he was in a daze, his WeChat sounded. Picking it up, he saw a message from Zheng Yue—
Little Yueyue: “Brother Hao, what are you doing?”
Wang Ritian: “I’m at Zhonghai Avenue, where’s the crew? Where did they move?”
Little Yueyue: “Brother Hao, don’t worry, Director Gao asked me to ask you, did you step in dog poop today?”
Wang Ritian: “Do I step in dog poop every day? Not today, unbeatable!”
Little Yueyue: “That’s great! Our film crew ran into some trouble, can’t solve it, we absolutely need you, our good luck charm, to come take control. Hold on, I’ll send you the location!”
What do you think?
