Chapter 485 504: The Buddhist Chi Jia
Several days later.
In a courtyard within Haoran Academy, a tutor of the academy was in conversation with a young man transformed from Demonic Qi.
It was less a conversation and more about imparting to the young man a background story crafted according to a script.
The script left by Chu Yuan was brought out at that moment and recited to the young man.
Clearly, it was Chu Yuan who had arranged for someone to come and impart this information to the young man.
Chu Yuan really had no other choice.
The ring he controlled could not enter the young man's vicinity silently, let alone be worn by him.
With no alternative, he had to ask Zhou Lin to send someone to help him, to endow this Demonic Qi manifestation with a background.
The tactic of imparting a background was quite effective.
At least, the young man did not start messing around right away.
Instead, he listened intently.
"So, my name is Chi Jia, and I suppose I am now a disciple of Haoran Academy?"
The young man transformed from Demonic Qi, 'Chi Jia,' asked the teacher in front of him with confusion.
"Yes and no, you have yet to go through the entrance test, so for the time being, you can only be considered a semi-disciple of Haoran Academy."
The tutor spoke leisurely.
"When will the test be?"
Chi Jia asked blankly.
"In a few days, in a few days I'll have someone take you for a talent evaluation."
The tutor said so.
Upon hearing this,
Chi Jia naturally had no objections.
Seeing this, the tutor chattered with Chi Jia for a few more sentences and then turned to leave.
Before the tutor could walk away, he seemed to remember something and pulled a ring from his chest.
"This ring is said to be an object that came into being with you. I don't know its exact function, but since you hadn't transformed previously, I didn't give it to you. Now that you have transformed, this ring should return to its rightful owner."
Following the script precisely, the tutor pulled out the ring harboring Chu Yuan's spirit.
He handed the ring over to Chi Jia.
Chi Jia received the ring and curiously examined it.
But he couldn't decipher anything.
He simply felt the ring looked familiar.
As if he had seen it somewhere before.
Chi Jia didn't think too much about it.
After sending the tutor away, he put on the ring and returned to the courtyard, starting his self-cultivation.
He was a transformation of the Demonic Qi Seed.
He inherently possessed a Cultivation Technique within him.
Allowing him to engage in self-cultivation.
...
Within the ring,
Chu Yuan was coiled in a void space.
From here, he could observe the actions of Chi Jia outside.
When he saw Chi Jia calmly cultivate after hearing his background and receiving the ring, without any other actions, he felt a tremendous pressure.
Looking at the disciple's manner, he seemed to be a devoted Cultivator.
Focused solely on cultivation and indifferent to anything else?
That was quite a challenge to deal with.
Chu Yuan slightly furrowed his brow.
He wanted a lackluster disciple, preferably the kind that knew only indulgence and pleasure.
This template of the devoted Cultivator, however, was not good at all.
Chu Yuan pondered deeply.
He didn't know how to stop this new disciple, Chi Jia.
He surely couldn't just pop out now and tell the new disciple to stop cultivating, could he?
As Chu Yuan thought, he suddenly recalled a novel he had read before, in which the Respected Master of a certain Mr. Xiao, during his youth, absorbed the Spiritual Energy of the great figure unintentionally due to soul weakness, causing that great figure to remain a failure for many years.
Maybe he could emulate that.
Use his Invincible State to absorb the Spiritual Energy when Chi Jia cultivates?
It seemed feasible.
A light dawned on Chu Yuan.
Having understood, he immediately began to make his move.
He attempted tentatively to absorb the surrounding Spiritual Energy of Chi Jia using his Invincible State.
This attempt brought him joy.
It really worked.
His Invincible State could indeed swallow the Spiritual Energy.
And it did so in a commanding fashion.
Invincible State truly lives up to its name as Invincible State.
Impressive.
Even Spiritual Energy can be manipulated.
Chu Yuan tossed all the Spiritual Energy he had swallowed into the storage ring.
He looked curiously towards the outside world.
He wanted to see what kind of expression Chi Jia would have.
Would it be one of shock, of horror?
However, unexpectedly,
Chu Yuan looked towards the outside world.
Chi Jia outside showed no sign of shock.
He merely paused for a moment.
Then, as if nothing had happened, he continued to close his eyes and resumed his cultivation.
It was Chu Yuan, in fact, who was taken aback.
Haven't I devoured all the Spiritual Energy around this Chi Jia?
What could he possibly be cultivating? Cultivating loneliness?
Clearly unable to absorb any Spiritual Energy.
Yet there he was, casually continuing his cultivation.
This Disciple…
was a bit odd.
Chu Yuan couldn't quite put his finger on what was strange.
It seemed to be…
perhaps a bit Zen-like?
A creature transformed from Demonic Qi, acting all Zen-like? Really?
Chu Yuan had some silent retorts in his mind.
But a retort was just a retort.
He couldn't be bothered to meddle any further.
As long as the Disciple couldn't cultivate, that was fine.
Chu Yuan silently watched Chi Jia from within the ring.
Chi Jia continued in the same position, cultivating as if absorbing loneliness.
...
Before they knew it, several days had passed.
On this day, it was time for Chi Jia to have his talents assessed.
It was also the day of the Haoran Academy's new Disciples induction ceremony.
Chi Jia had been specifically scheduled to be assessed on this day.
In regards to the talent assessment, Chi Jia still showed no excitement or anxiety, appearing very Zen-like.
Unsurprisingly,
under the watchful eyes of the public, Chi Jia's lack of talent was revealed.
This was exactly the scenario Chu Yuan had envisioned, with some of the new Haoran Academy Disciples mocking Chi Jia.
Originally, Chu Yuan thought Chi Jia would respond with something like "don't underestimate the young, as the eastward flowing river turns westward in time."
But unexpectedly, Chi Jia remained indifferent to these mockeries.
He didn't seem to care at all.
This struck Chu Yuan as strange.
He always felt there was something odd about this Disciple formed from Demonic Qi, but he couldn't quite say what it was.
That very night,
within the courtyard,
Chu Yuan inside the ring finally couldn't hold back any longer.
He felt that even the script couldn't deal with Chi Jia—this Disciple was just too indifferent.
Unperturbed by mockery.
Utterly devoted to cultivation.
Yet his cultivation wasn't absorbing any Spiritual Energy; it was unclear what he was taking in.
Chu Yuan thought he couldn't continue wasting time like this.
He needed to come out of the ring to make sense of this strange Disciple.
After pondering for a moment,
Chu Yuan quietly slipped out of the ring.
The figure of Chu Yuan shimmering with golden light appeared in the room where Chi Jia was sitting and cultivating.
Chu Yuan thought that Chi Jia would notice him, so he simply stood there with his hands clasped behind his back, facing away from Chi Jia, exuding the demeanor of a lofty master.
But after waiting for a while, there was no sound.
This made him a bit confused.
Turning around, he wished to see what exactly Chi Jia was doing.
And that's when he was stunned,
only to see that Chi Jia had at some point picked up a stool and was cautiously approaching him…
What do you think?
