Dominate the Super Bowl

Chapter 373 372 Strike to the Throat

Li Wei is picking up speed—

Clearly, during the halftime break, both teams had tactical meetings, and the start of the second half saw a head-on collision with bayonets bared.

The New England Patriots defensive group remained dominant, completely suppressing the Kansas City Chiefs; whereas the Chiefs, through repositioning, created a time difference, attempting to carve out passing space for Smith and open up the game.

Now, Li Wei was tasked with a different mission, so he had no way of knowing the pocket situation, whether Smith was being sacked or if Smith had completed a pass.

But Li Wei didn't have time to think; as long as the referee didn't declare the end of this down, he had to run his route and reach his position according to plan.

This, was his mission.

Push off, sprint, focus completely.

Unreservedly, Li Wei sprinted in a straight line, his speed fully unleashed.

In his peripheral vision, Li Wei could see the relentless figure of Gilmore in pursuit. As he continued to run, Li Wei clenched his teeth and sped up, the collision of his feet with the ground continuously generating incredible power that propelled his body to take flight.

The forty-five-yard line.

The midfield line.

As he crossed into the New England Patriots' half, with the forty-five-yard line in sight, Gilmore finally realized that the gap was irreversible, and that it was impossible to accomplish a defense by relying on close cornerback coverage.

What to do?

Gilmore needed to make a judgment. After all, Li Wei was currently without the ball. If his defense was even slightly overzealous, getting a yellow flag would be bad enough, but if Li Wei wasn't the intended pass target at all, that would be disastrous.

A glance back.

In the brilliant lights, Gilmore accurately captured the football's flight arc, passing over their heads toward a farther destination, with the parabola's descending point right in front of them.

Dammit!

Without hesitation, Gilmore made a snap decision. His leap and diving tackle was smooth and seamless, breaking free from gravity's bonds, heading straight for Li Wei.

Uh, ah!

With a muffled grunt, Gilmore's all-out collision forcefully landed on Li Wei's back; yet, he had no time to worry about whether the referee would throw a yellow flag, as he fixed his gaze on Li Wei, his pupils exploding open.

In his sight, he could see Li Wei flying forward, staggering a few steps, but unbelievably controlling his balance amidst the chaos, continuing to push off the ground and accelerating forward.

The forty-five-yard line.

The forty-yard line.

The thirty-five-yard line.

The ten-yard distance disappeared under Li Wei's feet before he even had the chance to blink.

Gilmore was left speechless and dumbfounded.

The next second, the pull of gravity surged in, dragging Gilmore into a whirl of reactive forces, the world spinning around him.

And Li Wei?

Stumbling, reeling, with the upper half of his body pulled forward by the force of his flight, he hadn't even managed to control his center of gravity before he saw coming head-on Chung Family—

The New England Patriots safety.

With no center of gravity, no balance, and staggering steps, Li Wei had lost control of his body, but the sight of Chung Family somehow calmed him down.

Inspiration struck.

The more dangerous it got, the calmer he became; the more difficult, the more excited.

In the midst of chaos, Li Wei glanced back and saw the football rapidly descending.

The pass target, was indeed himself!

The crucial point was, Smith had done it. He evaded the New England Patriots' determined sack and completed the pass, igniting Li Wei's passion.

The thirty-yard line, now within reach.@@novelbin@@

And approaching him head-on, also Chung Family.

In the blink of an eye, Li Wei took a step forward, used his right leg as the pivot, and while running, rotated counter-clockwise three hundred and sixty degrees, his back to Chung Family, his back to the ground, facing the football as if backstroking, recklessly colliding into Chung Family's embrace.

Chung Family extended his left shoulder, trying to block the spot and brace for the impact, but when he saw Li Wei's incredible catching motion, he sounded the alarm.

Oh no!

Chung couldn't bother to block Li Wei, as he too looked up to find the football's descending parabolic path, trying to disrupt the pass, to cut off the connection from its root.

Here it comes!

Just as Chung was about to raise his hands, he found his chest pushed against by Li Wei's helmet and shoulder, the full weight pressing down on him, and his body instinctively reacted to maintain balance, rendering his arms helpless, stuck in place like the tiny forearms of a Tyrannosaurus rex.

Chung: ???

In the midst of chaos and turmoil, Chung watched helplessly as a pair of hands reached out in front of him, grabbed and plucked, firmly controlling the football.

As if plucking stars from the sky.

Chung grimaced, ready to pull Li Wei down with him, but to his utter surprise, Li Wei used Chung's body to stagger forward two steps, upending Chung's balance. The next second, Chung felt the centrifugal force pulling and was flung away.

What about Li Wei?

Chung's pupils reflected the image of Li Wei:

Landing, spinning.

Using the strength of his core, Li Wei incredibly completed another turn, flipping 180 degrees and adjusting back onto the correct path.

But his center of gravity was already lost.

He lunged forward.

He charged ahead.

As his upper body became parallel with the ground, about to launch like a torpedo the next second, Li Wei's push-off was resolute, his knee nearly hitting his chest, his left hand powering off the ground in an instant, propelling his body forward.

Tottering and stumbling, Li Wei passed where Chung fell, crossing the thirty-yard line, unbelievably crashing inside the twenty-yard line.

"Li Wei, wow! Li Wei!"

"In a one-on-one showdown, Li Wei overpowers Chung with a spectacular catch, connecting with Smith, as the Kansas City Chiefs turn the second half's opening with a fifty-yard pass into a complete overturn of the situation."

"Oh, Li Wei!"

In the broadcast booth, Nantz was dumbfounded.

Nantz thought the offensive play had ended, with Li Wei defeating Chung in a one-on-one to catch the ball, the Kansas City Chiefs incredulously delivering an explosive attack to reverse the momentum, but he had no idea—

"Li Wei! Li Wei! Li Wei!"

"Li Wei incredibly controls his center of gravity, he's still moving, he's still pushing forward!"

"The twenty-yard line!"

"The fifteen-yard line!"

"McCourty, safety McCourty is trying to intercept Li Wei!"

"Oh, my God, what are we witnessing?"

"This, this..."

McCourty was fully alert, this time making no mistakes, he grappled Li Wei accurately; McCourty could finally breathe a sigh of relief, having not erred, but then he realized he was off balance, moving forward with Li Wei.

He seemed to drift upward like a carp streamer.

Pushing off, powering up, advancing.

As McCourty bounced and swayed in Li Wei's relentless progress, his tight grip loosened, and the next second he was swept into the storm—

Li Wei had broken free.

But at the same time, Li Wei had exhausted his strength, no longer able to push off.

So, Li Wei simply leapt into the air, using the last bit of energy left in his body to throw himself forward, with only one thought in mind:

Fight. Fight. Fight. Continue reading on My Virtual Library Empire

He surged upward in a fish-like leap, hard-fought against the relentless pull of gravity, his arms spread wide like a startled swan, embracing the raging wind.

Soaring high!

"Huh."

Nantz burped.

"Touchdown."
