Dominate the Super Bowl

Chapter 431

Chapter 431: 430 Return Home in Glory Chapter 431: 430 Return Home in Glory “Dear passengers, we are about to arrive at LaGuardia Airport, New York.

Thank you very much for choosing this flight…”

The plane was slowly descending.

Snap, snap, someone gently patted Li Wei’s arm.

Li Wei jerked upright and opened his eyes instinctively, “I’m up, I’m up.”

A sweet voice reached his ears, “I’m sorry, sir, terribly sorry to disturb your rest, but the plane is preparing to land, and for safety reasons, we need to ask you to straighten your seat back.”

Li Wei stretched lazily, “No, don’t worry.

I’m awake now.

Sorry, may I have a glass of water?”

“Of course.”

Having slept all day yesterday, Li Wei had adjusted, but during his vacation, he still ensured he got plenty of sleep outside of basic training, as it was the simplest and most effective way to recover, akin to hibernation.

Thus, on the short flight from Kansas City to New York, which lasted just under three hours, Li Wei slept all the way.

...

However, the air in the cabin was dry, and upon waking, his throat felt severely parched.

“Sir,” the flight attendant handed over a glass of water, “Is there anything else I can assist you with?”

“No, all is good,” Li Wei responded with a smile.

As the conversation ended, Li Wei noticed that the flight attendant hadn’t moved away.

He thought she was waiting for his glass, so he tilted his head back, drank it in one gulp, and handed back the glass, “Thank you.”

The flight attendant bowed slightly, “No need; it’s our pleasure.”

Li Wei: ?

It felt a bit odd.

Li Wei looked up and saw a young blonde beauty, looking about in her early twenties, with sparkling bright green eyes and smooth, silky blonde hair styled in a bun.

The dim cabin lights cascaded down her hair like a waterfall, and her lips curled into a sweet, shy smile.

This was somewhat unexpected.

The staff on North American Airlines were predominantly middle-aged women in their thirties and forties, particularly on domestic flights.

It was very rare to see young women, a far cry from the days when models served as flight attendants for historical airlines like Pan American.

After boarding, Li Wei had quickly entered sleep mode and wasn’t disturbed throughout the flight —

This was the advantage of business class.

As a result, Li Wei had not paid any attention to the flight attendants.

“Sorry, Mr.

Li…”

“Li Wei.

Just call me Li Wei.”

“Li Wei…” The young woman paused, still seeming a bit unsure, and offered a shy smile, “Sorry to have disturbed your rest.”

“I just wanted to say congratulations on advancing to the Super Bowl.

You all completed a perfect season, and your performance in the divisional game was exemplary.”

So that was it —

Football, definitely not just a man’s sport.

The number of female fans of the sport on the North American continent far exceeded expectations.

Li Wei’s smile brightened, “Thank you.

But I hope, this isn’t the end.” His gaze lingered briefly on the name tag on her chest, “Brenda.”

Brenda’s eyes lit up, clearly capturing the flickers of joy and excitement in her pupils, “Of course, we all are looking forward to the Super Bowl.”

“We?” Li Wei noticed her choice of pronoun.

Brenda nodded excitedly, “Yes, me and my colleagues, and the captain too.”

She paused, glancing forward.

Li Wei followed her gaze and then caught the other two flight attendants, who were pretending to be busy but were actually sneaking glances in his direction.

The two women were more typical, around thirty-five to forty years old, wearing low-heeled shoes, slightly plump, with friendly smiles on their faces.

Brenda, unaware her small gestures had been noticed, continued, “Actually, I wanted to ask if we could take a photo with you.

I know we disturbed your rest…”

“Of course,” Li Wei flashed a smile.

Brenda’s eyes widened in shock, her pupils swirling with overwhelming joy.

Li Wei’s smile fully bloomed, “It’s my honor.

Thank you for supporting the Chieftain.”

This was Li Wei’s first time enjoying such treatment outside of the football field.

Spending the entire season shuffling between training and matches, and living a life that fluctuated between his apartment and the training field, it was hard to feel the changes happening outside.

Despite the bustling post-game press conferences and the fierce flow of social media traffic, all that seemed like fleeting bubbles, hustling before his eyes, while real life changes were hard to grasp; hence, until now, Li Wei still considered himself just a regular rookie.

Until now.

Li Wei’s words were undoubtedly sincere.

Unexpectedly, Brenda’s smile bloomed like a sunflower, “Actually, I live in New York.”

This time, it was Li Wei’s turn to be surprised.

Watching Li Wei’s eyes widen, Brenda grew even happier, “Our pilot is a true native New Yorker, and he really hopes you could come to the Giants; our chief attendant has lived in Houston for many years, but she appreciates your games just the same.”

“No one can deny your talent.”

“Believe me, whether or not they live in Kansas City, your fans are already spread across various cities.

Let me tell you a secret, there’s more than one passenger on this flight wearing a Chieftain number twenty-three jersey.”

Surprise.

Indeed, a small surprise.

Now, Li Wei finally had some real sense of his influence across the North American continent—

The feeling, not bad at all.

“Ha.” Li Wei chuckled lightly, “It seems that today is indeed my lucky day.”

A bit of teasing completely relaxed the atmosphere.@@novelbin@@

Then.

The pilot and the chief attendant appeared, leaving the co-pilot all alone in the cockpit; they completed a group photo with Li Wei in the business class aisle.

Before, Li Wei just sat in his chair, appearing thin and frail; now that he was standing, the entire cabin suddenly felt crowded, truly signifying Li Wei’s robust and sturdy build.

The pilot couldn’t contain his excitement and jubilation, “…Although I really, really hope you could come to the Giants, I do not think it is the best time now.

Wait a bit longer, wait for your rookie contract to end, then we’ll see what happens.”

“Welcome back to home ground.”

“Of course, no matter which team you’re on, when you come to New York, this place is your home ground.”

Home ground?

To New Yorkers, Li Wei, born in New York, had evidently become a local star, and they were ready to welcome him back with open arms.

“Thank you.

Thank you very much.”

Following a smooth landing, the entire cabin crew lined up to thank Li Wei.

Before departing, Brenda shook hands with Ansen again, and Ansen noticed a piece of paper in his hand—upon leaving the cabin, he unfolded it:

It was a phone number.

And that still wasn’t all.

As Li Wei appeared at the airport, his tall and upright figure easily attracted attention, one after another recognizing him; the airport then became lively.

Li Wei: ???

The last time he came back to New York, he hadn’t received such treatment.

Why did it suddenly seem like the entire city had awakened?

“Divisional game, well-played, beautifully won!”

“Ah, watching you crush New England’s spirit really was refreshing.”

“Hahaha, I’ve really been looking forward to this day for a long time, after Eli, the second Anti-Brady has emerged.

Li Wei, I have high hopes for you!”

Ah, so that was the reason.
