Chapter 39 - 40 – A Pure 100,000-Year Soul Ring, Seeking Di Tian

Lin Fan's eyes lit up as he immediately halted all Spine Crawler attacks and suspended the hatching of Explosive Zerglings.

His gaze shifted to the energy point counter on his ever-present panel—it had plummeted to:

[20131 points]

He clutched his chest dramatically, his heart aching with pain.

"Damn it! It took this much just to bring down the Sky Azure Bull Python—even after Xiao Wu ambushed it first."

Clearly, his current Zerg high-tier combat units were still too few.

If wiping out a single 100,000-year soul beast required a full assault, what would happen when he eventually had to fight Titled Douluo?

Figures like Qian Daoliu from Spirit Hall, Bo Saixi from Sea God Island, and the Bat King from the Slaughter City...

Forget the ultimate-level opponents—even someone like Tang Hao might take significant resources to defeat.

And unlike soul beasts, humans had the added complexity of martial souls and soul skills, often used in unpredictable combinations.

That made Lin Fan even more certain about his approach—he would lie low, expand cautiously, and start from regions with minimal human activity. Only when his Zerg were fully developed would he consider challenging the power structure of Douluo Continent.

He turned back toward the battlefield.

Amid the lingering smoke and the scorched land, a massive blood-red soul ring floated mid-air—its crimson glow piercing through the haze of smoke and ash.

Xiao Wu flapped her bone wings gently as she descended from the sky, her figure landing gracefully on the charred ground.

Even she was momentarily stunned by the sheer devastation before her.

The land beneath the Sky Azure Bull Python had become a smoldering crater—over ten meters deep, scorched earth still burning in scattered patches.

The Bull Python's forty- to fifty-meter-long body was completely torn apart, riddled with bloody holes. Sections of bone were clearly visible where Spine Crawlers had skewered straight through flesh.

One of its massive lantern-like eyes had burst, while the other stared lifelessly at the sky—wide open, refusing to shut even in death.

Its great horns had been blown apart, scattered in chunks across the battlefield.

Leftover bio-plasma from the explosive Zerglings continued to corrode both the corpse and the ground beneath it.

For three kilometers in every direction, the land was charred and barren, not a single blade of grass survived.

Xiao Wu extended a delicate hand toward the soul ring gently floating above the body.

The moment her fingers brushed the ring, a violent surge of hatred and rage exploded forth, flooding into her mind.

"Xiao Wu! You betrayed us!!!"

The last remnants of the Sky Azure Bull Python's spiritual will roared directly within her consciousness.

Its twisted, furious face appeared—more beast than spirit—screaming in endless rage.

"My brother and I always treated you like our own sister! How could you do this? How could you turn on us?!"

"You sided with those disgusting, vile creatures—and you killed me! I swear I will never forgive you!"

The spiritual projection howled, lashing out with waves of mental force.

But Xiao Wu just chuckled—soft and sweet at first, then cackling.

Her crimson eyes glinted with mischief as she replied:

"Oh, it's not just you."

"Don't worry. I'll take good care of Er Ming in your place... heehee~"

The Bull Python's remaining eye widened in sheer fury. It nearly burst into flames from the intensity of its rage.

"NO! You—you monster! You're vile! You've forgotten everything! Have you forgotten how your mother died?!"

Xiao Wu tilted her head, feigning curiosity, then exclaimed:

"Oh right! Wasn't it Spirit Hall that killed my mom?"

"And guess what? My Master—the Supreme Overlord—is very interested in Spirit Hall. Maybe I'll let them take care of Er Ming too~"

"Hehe~ Two birds, one stone."

"YOU—!"

"You ungrateful... backstabbing monster!!"

The last trace of the Sky Azure Bull Python's spirit screamed in despair, lashing out in Xiao Wu's mind like a furious blue sword.

But it was futile.

Xiao Wu let out a cold snort. With her goal achieved, she summoned an overwhelming surge of spiritual power—like a galaxy crashing down—crushing the Bull Python's mental fragment to dust.

Opening her eyes, she saw the pure, red soul ring floating calmly before her. The soul's residue and any trace of spiritual resistance had been thoroughly erased.

She smiled, satisfied.

"The Master should be quite pleased with this soul ring~"

With a wave of her hand, the earth shifted and cracked. The ring and corpse were both swallowed into the depths—sent back to the Zerg Hive.

Star Dou Forest – Core Region

Far away, the Titan Giant Ape suddenly jolted awake.

Its massive heart pounded in its chest as an inexplicable sense of dread and agitation surged through it.

It felt... like something terrible had just happened.

It looked around in confusion—but there was no sign of the Sky Azure Bull Python.

"Big Brother? Where did you go...?"

Uneasy, it leapt into the air and shot toward the forest's outer regions, intent on finding answers.

Within the Zerg Hive

Lin Fan quietly observed the tide of soul beasts being driven inward by his swarm. The execution had gone smoother than expected. The outer regions of the Star Dou Forest had been almost entirely cleared.

"Time to expand the Hive."

He would begin spreading the Creep (Zerg organic ground cover) underground through the entire outer region.

Then, convert all the dead soul beasts into energy points, before turning his attention to the core.

He gazed toward the deepest parts of the forest.

"Tianmeng Ice Silkworm... Di Tian..."

"Are you two really in there?"

Lin Fan had held off on fully expanding the Hive earlier because he feared disturbing Di Tian's slumber.

But even with all the chaos today, there had been no sign of interference from Di Tian or the forest's guardian forces.

He finally allowed himself a sigh of relief.

"Looks like I can proceed to the next phase."

After all, in the original timeline, Spirit Hall nearly drove Da Ming and Er Ming to death, and Di Tian still didn't show up.

"As long as I don't disturb his sleep, he probably won't even notice if I wipe out the entire forest."

"My Lord, the Sky Azure Bull Python's remains have been delivered. Would you like to see them?"

Xiao Wu stepped into the chamber, her arms wrapped around Lin Fan's neck, voice soft and sweet.

Lin Fan gave her a firm pat on the rear, his eyes lighting up.

"If the body was recovered... then the soul ring must still be intact."

He turned to look at a nearby Zerg Spore Pod, where Zhu Zhuyun was undergoing her transformation.

CRACK... CRACK...!

Faint cracks began forming on the spore's surface, spreading wider and deeper.

Inside, Zhu Zhuyun's eyelashes fluttered, trembling more and more violently.

CRACK!

The spore suddenly split open—
