Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Superficial Liking and Deep Soulful Love Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Superficial Liking and Deep Soulful Love “Wow, my little nephew is having a blast,” Calvin Marshall teased into Bella Woods’ ear.

Bella Woods withdrew her gaze from Oliver Hughes and continued drinking.

Calvin Marshall thought for a moment and asked, “No emotions at all?”

“What emotions should I have?” Bella Woods retorted.

“Like, aren’t you at least a little upset, or uncomfortable?”

“No,” Bella Woods replied bluntly.

“Not even a little?” Calvin Marshall felt that Bella Woods should have some slight fluctuation.

After all, everyone in the circle knew how much Bella Woods used to like Oliver Hughes.

There were even nasty rumors saying Oliver Hughes has a clingy, rural fiancée, using underhanded methods to get close to him and never letting go.

“Really none,” Bella Woods said. “If you ask when, or if my past affection for Oliver Hughes was fake, I can only say that I truly liked him back then, and truly wanted to marry him.”

But that feeling was too pure, being trampled by Oliver Hughes time and time again, so fragile it couldn’t take another blow.

Bella Woods’ affection for Oliver Hughes was superficial, like a gentle spring breeze that brought her into his social circle, sustained purely by that initial impression.

When she couldn’t sustain it anymore, Bella Woods realized how faint her feelings for Oliver Hughes were.

“Turns out there really is a moment when you stop liking someone,” Calvin Marshall muttered.

She had never truly liked anyone.

Nor did she ever wish to like someone else.

For Calvin Marshall, idol worship, shipping fictional couples, or hanging out with cute younger guys was already enough.

She had money, looks, a figure, and status. Committing to one person was too exhausting, and she didn’t want to waste her energy liking anyone. She just wanted to choose the type she liked and let them like her.

Naturally, Calvin Marshall knew they might like her for her money, her status, or her looks, but it didn’t matter.

Because she had all those things.

She felt shallow enough to believe her soul was solitary and twisted, that nobody could truly love her, so as long as they liked her outwardly, and were willing to make her happy for her appearance, Calvin Marshall found it perfectly fine.

Shallow liking was what made people happy.

Deep, soulful love was possessive, selfish, extreme, and not good at all.

“Don’t worry about it, just stay with my third brother,” Calvin Marshall laughed. “He’s way better than him.”

Bella Woods was cautious about commenting on Third Young Master Marshall.

She was even more cautious about commenting on her current feelings with the Third Young Master.

She raised her glass and clinked with Calvin Marshall’s.

Then, performers came over to drink and chat with Calvin Marshall. To avoid the man in the suit, Bella Woods pretended to like that artist a lot, and Calvin Marshall arranged for her to sit between her and the artist.

It was awkward, but better than sitting with the man in the suit.

Bella Woods tried to fit into the world Calvin Marshall brought her to see, while Oliver Hughes, after kissing that girl, looked over several times to find Bella Woods unmoved, and lost interest, sending the girl away.

Meanwhile, other women tried to get close, but all were sent away.

Oliver Hughes, in a full booth, drank sullenly by himself.

But couldn’t help looking toward Bella Woods from time to time.

In the past, in any setting, no matter what he was doing, as soon as he turned around, Bella Woods would always be watching him, as if constantly focusing on him.

Whenever he turned to find her, she’d respond immediately.

But now, even though Oliver Hughes turned back several times, Bella Woods didn’t spare him a glance, as if she never knew Oliver Hughes was there.

Clearly, when he arrived, he walked right past Bella Woods.

The more Oliver Hughes thought about it, the more sullen he felt, drinking harder and harder.

Unbeknownst to Bella Woods.

Sitting between Calvin Marshall and the artist, not really liking the artist nor having anything to chat about, instead, Calvin Marshall and the artist chatted with her.

Though they kept her in the conversation, Bella Woods felt awkward and kept drinking silently.

Drinking a lot naturally made her need the bathroom.

“I’m going to the restroom.”

When Bella Woods stood up, she felt a bit dizzy.

Sitting down, she hadn’t realized how much she’d drunk. Standing up, it felt like the whole Paradise World was spinning.

“Little Bella?”

“Miss Woods?”

Calvin Marshall and the artist, Wanda Green, steadied Bella Woods and asked how she was.

Bella Woods pulled her hands away from them, waving them off. “I’m fine, just sat too long and stood up too quickly.”

Bella Woods steadied herself for a moment, then left the booth for the restroom.

But she still felt pretty dizzy.

Bella Woods could hold her liquor.

When Oliver Hughes brought her into the circle, the first lesson was drinking. The first time, not knowing how, she got laughed at and hid at home drinking for days to build her tolerance.

But it was still just average.

Earlier, she drank unconsciously a lot, and now with the effects kicking in, Bella Woods felt dizzy.

Arriving at the restroom, she felt a wave of dizziness, about to collapse when someone beside her suddenly caught her.

“Are you okay?” the person asked.

Bella Woods steadied herself, turning back to find it was a girl with a distinctive smoky voice who had caught her.

“You…?” The girl looked at Bella Woods, surprised.

“Thanks,” Bella Woods thanked her, then curiously looked at the girl, touching her own face. “Is there something wrong with me?”

The other hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. “No.”

Bella Woods nodded and walked toward the restroom.

The girl stood at the door for a while, then turned back to her own booth.

“Brother Ethan, I just saw someone who looked just like… Brother Ethan?”

The booth was empty.

Everyone she came with had already left.

“This again.” She was quite helpless but had no way around it.

Bella Woods lingered in the restroom for a while, washing her face, but still felt terribly dizzy.

Thinking of how much fun Calvin Marshall was having, Bella Woods texted Ashton Marshall to pick her up.

She didn’t return to the booth, instead texting Calvin Marshall and making sure he saw it and replied before heading to the Paradise World entrance.

Stepping out the bar door, the cold wind gradually cleared her dizziness.

While waiting for Ashton Marshall outside, Oliver Hughes somehow stood behind her. “Waiting for the old man to pick you up?”

Bella Woods, startled, stepped back, trying to distance herself from Oliver Hughes.

Unexpectedly, stepping back, she bumped into a man’s embrace.

“Be careful.”

The man held her, and from the back, it looked like Bella Woods collapsed into his arms.

Hearing the familiar voice, Bella Woods looked up at the man.
