Chapter 283 Werewolf hunter

Horror could only begin to describe what Uriel felt when Emma's trait illuminated the hybrid. There was no room for doubt now, it was definitely a werewolf.

With a howl, the cryptid attempted to turn around and flee, but a speeding object flew towards it and struck the werewolf directly on the snout. The creature let out a pitiful cry and took a few steps back.

"Captain Silvermane!? I thought you were the culprit!" Uriel was beyond flabbergasted.

"Hey! Snap out of it and help me!" Captain Silvermane shouted as he took off the top of his army uniform.

"No way, that thing... it's too powerful."

"Don't worry, it doesn't fight back. I've been hunting it for weeks now."

Captain Silvermane's back was now fully exposed revealing an ashen mane that somehow resembled that of the creature. His muscles were toned, but it was more than obvious now that the reason why his body looked odd was because of all the body hair he kept concealed under the uniform.

Uriel was both disgusted and relieved. Finding out the reason why they called him Silvermane felt the same as scratching an itch that had been tormenting him for months, but he wasn't pleased to see so much body hair on a person.

Silvermane didn't take his eyes off the creature for a second, but also didn't attempt to press the attack any further.

'What is he waiting for? He said the werewolf doesn't fight back, but that's..." Uriel's thoughts were cut short when his eardrums were pierced by a sorrowful howl that echoed in the alley.

Silvermane spoke to Uriel, but even though he was able to regenerate, his ears were still ringing and he was unable to decipher his words. Then, the soldier leapt forward and tried to hit the cryptid again, but the cryptid dodged by a hair's breadth and pushed the soldier without causing him any harm.

Uriel followed Silvermane's lead and attempted to strike the cryptid that was obviously faster than him, but he succeeded in keeping it off balance. Especially when the cryptid looked directly at him and its eyes widened.

The hulking cryptid fell into a daze and was unable to dodge Uriel's gut punch, though his strength wasn't enough to cause it any harm.

"You need to take impúlse!" Silvermane showed him how it was done and performed a flawless bash at the cryptid. He wasn't skilled in martial arts like Medusa or assassination techniques like Nika, but the raw power of his fists was frightening.

Up until that point, the werewolf had remained passive and tried to flee or dodge but after the tackle, it was as though its survival instinct kicked in and it retaliated sending Silvermane flying through a concrete wall.

The captain was tough and endured the pain, but when he attempted to stand up realized he was out of breath and couldn't continue fighting. He looked towards Uriel and nodded, letting him know that whatever he decided it would be fine. Your next chapter awaits on My Virtual Library Empire@@novelbin@@

"I'll kill it." Uriel said as though replying to Silvermane's thoughts and took out his revolver. A flurry of gunshots resounded as Uriel jumped to fight in close combat against the cryptid, firing point blank at every chance he got. Each bullet caused the damage his fists couldn't and being so close to the creature he couldn't miss.

Each projectile bruised the creature under the thick silver fur, causing it to yelp and writhe in pain but also to become more desperate and the more desperate it got, the more aggressive it became.

The first hit Uriel sent him tumbling down the ground, but instead of falling he rolled to minimize the damage and he was able to stand back up instantly. He then took advantage of the distance he covered when he was hit to take impulse and darted forward ready to summon Thunderbolt Iron at the last instant to behead the werewolf in a single swing, but what happened was something else entirely.

The cryptid who didn't bother to dodge most of his blows, crouched as soon as Uriel jumped. It was almost as if it knew Uriel was capable of summoning the sword artifact but at that moment Captain Silvermane was recovered and he took that as his opportunity to wrap his arms around the cryptid from behind and activate his trait.

The hair on his back began growing rapidly looking as if it had life of its own and quickly surrounded the wailing cryptid. His hair was tougher than alloy wire and even the powerful cryptid was unable to release itself from so many layers of thick hair.

"Do it! Kill that thing!" Silvermane shouted.

The tall cryptid was now wrapped around so many layers of hair its own fur was barely visible anymore and it was forced into fetal position. It was a fruit ready for the picking and all it would have taken to kill it was a well placed bullet in the eye just like Miss Charlie taught him.

But something was off.

The creature didn't fight back. It did retaliate a bit, but with it's imposing flux signature and its physical prowess it was more than obvious that it could have torn them to pieces within seconds. Something was off indeed and Uriel lingered for a few seconds before taking a decision.

"Let it go." Uriel said.

"What!? It's killed many students and even some professors! Why would we let go of this cryptid? If you want a reward, I'll let you keep its flux orb! Just kill the damned thing!"

"No, let it go," Uriel repeated himself, only this time he was pointing his magnum directly to Silvermane's head. "It didn't fight back, not really. It could have killed us, but it didn't. I have nothing to gain by killing it."

Captain Silvermane had no choice but to do what Uriel said. Even if the kid was only an ascended hunter, he saw his last performance in the physical training and he also saw him fight and realized that in his current state he would be no match for Uriel, especially if the cryptid sided along with him.
