Chapter 539: Bella of the east wind Part 1

As soon as the alarm was sounded, three of the four leaders of the families who formed the society were absolutely dumbfounded and the only one who already expected Uriel to do something as foolish as to attack the Central island was Mark.

"I fucking warned you, you fucking worthless bunch."

"It doesn't matter. He's quite capable, but there's nothing he can do now. Our people is settling on the four corners and we're in control of the passage behind the throne that leads to the third world. There's nowhere he can run other than the abyss."

"You fucking idiots..." Mark scoffed as he rubbed the blackened skin under his sleeve. Although he used to bully Uriel and always laughed at his weak character, he had his ass handed to him by Uriel one too many times and knew better than to underestimate him anymore.

Things were supposed to be different now, especially since he had the backing of the eclipse and knew for a fact that whatever made Uriel so powerful in the past wasn't with him anymore, but even the horror rank cryptid was somewhat afraid of Uriel and not without good reason.

It was Uriel the one who released him from his prison after Millennia and he spent a short while inside his trait and was able to follow his movements. He also made sure to get his minions to spy on Uriel the whole time during the Fallen corporation's ploy and was left speechless when the news that Uriel killed the horror rank nosferatu came to him.

The problem was that no matter how many times Mark warned the others, they just wouldn't listen.

"He's just a kid without a family background. If you're implying we should be scared of him, you're also implying that keeping our knowledge of the elements for generations over generations is worthless." The leader of the Masons, the family who controls the earth element spoke in a patronizing tone of voice.

"I'm- I'm not saying we should be afraid of him, but..." Mark attempted to speak but was cut short by Neve.

"We ensured that the army wouldn't intervene in our business by forcing them to leave, even if he counted with their support, that amounts to nothing." Neve added, but then Bella spoke.

"You make him sound amusing, why don't you let me handle him, maybe he'll entertain me a little." She giggled the last part and flew off as a powerful wind current formed.

"Don't go alone, you moron!" Mark shouted.

"Careful, she might be a kid, but she's the chosen head of the Eurus family, unlike you," The old man glared at Mark. "Besides she's only doing what you suggested."

Thanks to her excellent control over the wind element, by the time the conversation among the elemental leaders she left behind had ended Bella already found herself mid way to meet with Uriel.

As the top of her family devoted to the control of the wind element, her speed was unparalleled and there was no one faster than her in all the other houses, but in spites of being capable of reaching Raider's position in but a few seconds she decided to make the last part of the trip on her own feet.

She landed right outside their field of view and dusted her clothes, she checked her make up with a small mirror and took her time giving it a few touches. Finally, she unsuccessfully tried to comb her hair since her trait showed on it, making it wave even when no wind was present.

"I can't wait to meet him! I hope he lives up to the rumors going around." She squealed. More than getting ready for a fight, it was as though she was readying for a date, but that was precisely her 'style'. She took the last part of the way trying to fight off the excitement swelling within her heart, though as soon as she saw the people standing in front of her, her face immediately shifted.

"What are you doing here, big bro?"

"I'm waiting for you."

"Geez! Why do you always have to ruin everything! This was supposed to be a precious memory to me! By the way, where is he?" Bella placed her hand above her brows and scouted the place.

"Precious memory?" Uriel asked confounded as he was expecting an army of heavenly rank hunters possessing elemental manipulation traits.

"Yes, the memory of my first date with Raider."

"Sorry, but I'm not currently looking for dates. Maybe we could be just friends?" Uriel asked tentatively.

"You're him!?" Bella looked shaken for a second, but then gathered herself and began fumbling a few words. "No, I've been warned not to underestimate you based on appearances..."

"You made the right choice, Sir." Tate nodded.

"So, you didn't stay here to kill me, then?"

"Absolutely not, Sir! My allegiance is to the flag and the only reason I can't fight is because of all people, it had to be my sister who showed up first." Tate's gaze fell to the ground.

"Fight me? A practice dummy would put more of a fight than you." Bella said, then turned to Uriel as her eyes glimmered in a beautiful color making the unnatural weather come to a halt. "I could barely hear you, this is better don't you think?"

"Yes." Uriel replied a bit taken aback by her coquettish behavior and the immense power she wielded to control weather like it was nothing.

"Are you ready for our first date?" She mouthed, placing her hands behind her back and moving in a cutesy manner.

"I meant what I said, I'm not looking for..."

"She means fight." Was all Tate managed to say before a rapid wind blast sent Tate flying out with nothing but a glare from the girl.

"You're no fun, please have a date with me." Bella insisted.

"What if I refuse?"

"Nothing, I'll just dissipate this storm, but that will tell the others that you're fair game and they'll come after you. I only made this storm to make it clear that I want you all for myself..." She winked.

'Why couldn't it be a more normal enemy.' Uriel inwardly thought as he debated on whether he should accept her challenge. On one hand, the way she phrased it as a date was awkward and she was immensely powerful, but on the other she didn't attack him out of the blue and even kept others from coming.

In a sense, she was buying time for his companions without even realizing it or maybe she did, but didn't care.

"Fine. let's have it your way." Uriel sighed after admitting to himself that it was the better option.

"Yes!" Bella blushed and made a little celebratory series of small hops, but then her demeanor shifted and a cold glare appeared on her face washing away the cute smile. Seeing someone drop an act like that was extremely unsettling, but Uriel didn't have the time to mull over it as she started the confrontation with a wind blade.

Dodging it was difficult, since up to that moment Uriel had only encountered hunters with a single type of skill and the fact that she could launch wind blasts made subconsciously prepare for just that. Instead, a diagonal gash appeared on Uriel's chest before he could so much as summon his revolver.

Had that been all, Uriel could have recovered quite easily as his heavenly rank skin prevented him from suffering a mortal wound, but Bella continued launching a barrage of wind blades with very little effort forcing Uriel to summon the 'Red thread of fate' instead.

The red blade effectively blocked the attacks, as long as Uriel's reaction time permitted it, but without Dash active he still received a few body shots.

"What's the matter? Maybe they were just rumors after all" Bella let out evidently disappointed at Uriel's prowess, but then his eyes began shimmering and he launched himself forward causing a smile to appear on Bella's face.

She continued sending wind blades his way, but now Uriel blocked or dodged every single one. His movements weren't graceful, but he was quickly shortening the gap between them and that was all Bella wanted, though she wasn't going to make it easy for him and as soon as Uriel reached her and lunged his dagger towards her, a wind bubble burst out sending him away without stopping her onslaught.

Unable to dodge mid air, Uriel could only block a limited amount of wind blades causing him to suffer through what felt like being whipped over and over.

A weaker hunter would have screamed, but Uriel didn't so much as let out a grunt which seemed to please Bella who made a pause to speak, not that Uriel could make anything of her words as he was now lying on the ground with blood coming out of his ears because of the powerful explosion.

"...forward to this." By the time the deafening high pitch noise inside his ears passed Uriel could only hear mid sentence. He appreciated the respite to somewhat recover and proceeded to summon his revolver and open fire at her. Much to Uriel's dismay, the wind barrier also activated and the bullet didn't even touch her skin.

Just when he thought things couldn't get any worse, the System proved him wrong.
