Chapter 226: Sent into the Secret Realm by an Agent (4)
Ye Nai tossed her backpack to the side, disgusted by its contents, not wanting to touch it again. She planned to sell it to a second-hand dealer once they left the Secret Realm. Fortunately, not everything was inside, so the loss wasn’t significant.
Such hunting missions, eagerly joined by private teams led by military teams, required private teams to pay a security deposit. The deposit ensured they would maintain order and not cause trouble during the mission; it could be returned afterwards.
Ye Nai thought about their forced withdrawal from this mission, how they would suffer a hefty loss. Only then would she feel as if she’d gotten her revenge.
Take the payment for her eight laborers, for example. They received their pay before starting work, a daily wage of a thousand for half a month; each would get fifteen thousand. The total of one hundred twenty thousand had already been paid out and hadn’t been earned back yet. They were about to leave.
The thought alone was satisfying.
Not long after, the lunch break ended, and the large force set out toward tonight’s campsite.
Ye Nai locked the car door, spread out the sleeping pad inside, and set a two-hour alarm on her phone. She laid down and fell into a deep sleep.
Two hours later, she was woken by the alarm; the vehicle was moving normally.
Ye Nai sat up and glanced out the window at the scenery, then released a surfeit of spores through the gap in the car door, letting them sink into the soil and grow freely.
Next, she collected the sleeping pad, leaned against the double-door cabinet facing the rear doors, cushioned her back with the backpack, and put away the stool into the Space.
She then manipulated the spores within everyone’s body in the team, enticing their sleepiness.
Especially the driver, who, struggling with drowsiness while driving, began to react more slowly. However, he didn’t ease off the gas pedal, which led to a chain of car accidents.
First, the lead vehicle swerved, losing direction, and the second vehicle crashed into it for failing to brake in time. The vehicles behind followed suit, one after another, colliding with each other.
Ye Nai’s catering van was last in line. As she crashed into the vehicle ahead, she was thrown backward by the inertia. Her backpack provided excellent support, stabilizing her, and the tent strapped on top cushioned the back of her head. Though the angle of her recline was severe because of the impact, it did indeed protect the back of her head, and she didn’t hit or bump into anything.
Once sure the vehicle had stopped, she packed up her backpack, quickly opened the rear doors to get out, her face showing the aftermath of a narrow escape, like a lucky survivor of the car accident, checking to see if anyone else was as fortunate as she had been.
From behind the cargo truck where she was seated, everything looked fine, but the scene was a mess near the front of the vehicle.
The driver was motionless, slumped over the deployed airbag, with the truck’s front end pushed into the rear doors of the small cargo vehicle ahead. There was no sign of life inside the cabin; all seven people were unconscious.
Ye Nai added a little something extra to keep them out longer, to prevent them from waking too soon.
Moving on to the driver of the truck ahead, he also lay over the airbag, with his eyes half-open, half-closed, unclear whether he was just dazed or still conscious. The truck’s front had smashed into the back of an SUV ahead, cracking open its front face, while the SUV’s rear bumper was deformed.
Regarding the third SUV in the line, which had crashed into the rear door of the second SUV, its sturdy front bumper had caved in the door of the car ahead.
Looking inside through the window, the situation was even worse. There was nobody in the back seat, and the entire windshield had fallen out. Someone’s legs were on the dashboard, their body following the windshield onto the hood.
Even though the airbags had deployed, the driver and passenger were out cold.
Ye Nai checked the second SUV with the caved-in rear door. The three people inside were somewhat conscious, their faces bloody, trying to free themselves, but their weak hands couldn’t unbuckle the seatbelts.
As for the first SUV at the front, it was lying sideways on the ground. It had initially swerved, been hit by the car behind it, followed by the subsequent chain of impacts, resulting in its current state.
Ye Nai opened all the car doors she could, dragging out the movable victims and laying them on the ground to remain unconscious.
There was no helping the truck that had the rear door jammed; she genuinely didn’t know how to separate the two vehicles.
Just then, the perceptive Ye Nai suddenly heard the sound of car horns from the direction of the departing main force, and they were getting closer.
She looked up just as a military off-road vehicle came speeding toward her.
"What’s happening? A car accident?"
The large off-road vehicle screeched to an abrupt halt in front of Ye Nai, the driver rolling down the window and poking his head out to inquire.
"Yeah." Ye Nai waved her hand, "A chain-reaction crash."
"Are these five vehicles together? Which one were you on?"
"They’re together, the last two trucks are carrying laborers, I was on the very last truck, working as a cook. My backpack cushioned me, so I’m unhurt. As soon as I got off, I saw this mess, the first off-road vehicle lying sideways on the ground as if they just crashed into each other one after another."
"We’ll call for rescue from the town for you, when the car comes you can follow it back."
Upon hearing this, Ye Nai took a quick step, climbed up the ladder, and reached both hands into the window to grab the door while poking her head inside, casually taking a glance that the vehicle was filled with five people.
The driver was squeezed back by her actions, while his four comrades struggled to stifle their laughter without losing the seriousness on their faces, truly a hard task.
"How about taking me with you? It’s a hunting mission led by the Mountain Leopard Team, right? I guarantee you won’t regret bringing me along."
"Stop messing around, what can a cook do?" Stay tuned for updates on Freewebnovel
As the driver said this, he felt puzzled. She didn’t have the smell of being soaked in kitchen fumes all year round. Could someone so young really work as a cook for a warrior team?
"Hey hey, judging by appearances is not right, you know, be careful or you’ll roll over."
Ye Nai smiled, her left hand still clinging to the door while her body arched, and with her right hand, she unzipped the chest pack and took out her cell phone.
As soon as she brought out the phone, the five warriors in the vehicle became somewhat attentive. The phone wasn’t new and bore signs of use.
Ye Nai adeptly entered into Awakener, opened her backend, and flashed her automatically organized resume. It primarily showcased her Training Levels, scores, and mission records. She also included her personal optional vocational certificates, even adding her freshly acquired tobacco license.
"Want to take a look at my resume?"
The driver skeptically grabbed the phone, quickly swiped through a couple of pages, and couldn’t help but exclaim.
"My heavens! Is that really you?"
"Look at the photo, there’s a photo, of course, it’s me."
"What? Let me see," the co-driver stretched out his hand, swiped a few times, and his reaction mirrored that of the driver, "…Ah?!"
"What’s with you two, making such a fuss? Let us see."
The three in the back seat, the one in the middle rising up, grabbed the cell phone from co-driver’s hands.
All three looked together and in unison exclaimed, "Woah crap!"
Ye Nai’s eyes narrowed with joy, ignoring their reactions, she focused on pulling at the driver’s sleeve gently tugging and shaking it.
"How about it, how about it? I’ll join the mission with my Solo Hunter status. Just add me, will you? Isn’t it up to you guys just to say the word?"
What do you think?
