Chapter 37: Eating a Big Guy, Space Got Bigger Again
Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Eating a Big Guy, Space Got Bigger Again
In the evening, after leaving the training hall, Ye Nai made a beeline for Brother Peng’s stall to pick up the meat she had bought.
It was only at this point that she found out Brother Peng was also a Space Awakened.
The meat he gave her would appear out of thin air, each portion neatly tied with string, and he even untied each one for inspection.
“Oh, so Brother Peng is a colleague of sorts.”
“Hehe, my Space isn’t as large as yours; yours is more suitable for logistics, while mine can only carry a squad’s supplies.”
“That’s not bad at all. Whichever team you’re in, that team will have no worries about logistics.”
...
“That’s for sure.”
The two didn’t continue their conversation. Brother Peng was in his prime but chose to run a barbecue stall, which said a lot.
Ye Nai had already paid online during their noon chat, and after picking up the meat and saying goodbye, she left to go home and stew the meat, buying a swimsuit on the way back.
The flesh of the mutant beast was firm, so it required a longer time to stew. Brother Peng’s Mutant Beast Meat barbecue was always pre-processed, like the roasted pig trotters she had last time, which wouldn’t be cooked properly with just grilling if they hadn’t been marinated beforehand.
Ye Nai started by boiling the meat in cold water, cleaning off the scum, then put it into an electric pressure cooker, added bottled water, covered it, and turned on the switch, letting it stew~
Afterward, she went back to the living room, ordered takeout, and watched online classes on her phone while eating.
The more she watched, the more she missed the large screen from her computer class.
She had to get a large screen; otherwise, her neck couldn’t take it.
First, she searched on a short-video app, which was something Ye Nai often did—searching there whenever she was puzzled. The platform had images, sound, and demonstrations, making it far more understandable than text and perfect for a complete newbie like her.
After searching, she understood that a mobile phone could be directly connected to a projector to play content from the phone, and the image would be as large as the screen.
Ye Nai quickly searched for brands and reviews of projectors and rechecked the interface functions of her rugged dual-network phone. Since it had ports that allowed direct connection with a cable, she bought the cable first and then continued researching the projector.
She was only going to buy a projector and not a screen, as using the large white wall at home would do just fine. She wasn’t particular about image quality; as long as she could see, it was okay. She could always buy a screen later when she became more demanding.
While browsing projectors, she somehow shifted to computers, and the software continued to recommend computer accessories, such as ergonomic chairs and electric adjustable desks, which were standard equipment. Items like extra-large screens, floating mount assembly for multi-screen setups, outdoor power sources to serve as uninterruptible power supplies for desktops, and home networking cabinets essential for setting up network hardware like set-top boxes started popping up one after another.
She even stumbled upon civilian nuclear batteries, tiny ones, with models that could replace outdoor power sources or the batteries in electric bikes and cars. Naturally, the price was also quite lovely, with the product name directly indicating suitability for long-term power supply in Secret Realms without the worry of power outages.
Ye Nai’s eyes were dazzled by the choices; she wanted this and that. When deciding between a laptop and a desktop, she chose the desktop, because no matter how portable a laptop was claimed to be, it couldn’t compare with her setting up a dual or triple screen with an outdoor power source and a home cabinet with her big Space.
She didn’t even need multiple screens, but she just liked the idea of having them. If asked why, she’d say it was because she was rich and capricious—she wanted to have all sorts of computer-related electronic devices.
After spending the whole night on electronic devices, she dreamed that she had become a domineering hacker in the net.
The next morning, Ye Nai cooked a bowl of delicious soup noodles with the Mutant Beast Meat Soup that had been simmering overnight, ate it contentedly, and went out for a swim.
Ye Nai chose the perfect time, there were very few landlubbers like her, not even enough to form a line of ten people; three coaches divided among them meant everyone received detailed instruction.
Two hours of lessons later, Ye Nai could already flutter a few strokes while breathing on the side in the water. Her posture was not standard, but she could swim a few meters without the float board.
The fact that her body muscles did not hinder her learning speed made her the fastest learner in the group today. Among those who were slow, some were still clutching float boards, while others struggled with swallowing water; lifting their heads to breathe would lead to choking, which would cause them to sink, panic, forget they had legs, and the cycle would repeat.
All three coaches noticed how quickly Ye Nai was progressing and commented that she had a good feel for the water and likely had some athletic talent that had not been professionally developed from a young age.
Ye Nai didn’t feel it was a shame; after the class, she bought a swim pass and continued to flounder in the 2-meter deep pool.
After soaking in the water all morning, she was famished. As she stepped out of the training hall, the sunlight almost made her faint, but thanks to the Fungus that was always present, continually backfeeding her with energy, she did not actually pass out from hunger. She hurried home on her bike to cook, casually prepared a couple of vegetable dishes to go with that pot of braised meat, which tasted incredibly good.
After waking up from her nap, she spent the afternoon killing time at the training hall and then went home to buy groceries.
In the evening, she stayed at home and watched online courses to diligently supplement the basic knowledge for Awakeners.
In the middle of a pleasant night’s sleep, she was suddenly awakened by a surge of scorching energy. It was not as intense as the burning energy from the last space creation, but by the standard of energy levels, the Fungus growing and breeding at will in the depths of the danger zone must have found a big one, and was forcefully breaking it down to convert and backfeed energy to her.
Ye Nai quickly went to the balcony, squeezed out all her strength, and scattered a large wave of spores to support the Fungus fighting outside.
Looking out from the balcony into the distance, the direction of the depths of the danger zone was pitch black. The cleanup was only done during the day because it was dangerous at night. With no abnormal lights, that meant not a single person had been disturbed by such a big creature.
Ye Nai retreated to the bedroom and continued to sleep.
Until she fell asleep again, Ye Nai still had no idea what the big creature looked like, since the Fungus had not dragged it into the Space to decompose slowly.
The next morning when she got up, Ye Nai habitually glanced at the Space and noticed it seemed to have expanded a bit, as there was a little more gap next to her large shelves.
Her Space was a cuboid, 10 meters wide, 10 meters high, and 20 meters long. The shelves perfectly utilized one 10*10 meter wall space, with very little space left on both sides, and now one side had expanded just a tad.
Ye Nai didn’t have a laser ruler to measure the internal volume of the Space, but she was happy to see the growth, even if it was slight because it proved that her Space was growing. With sufficient energy, it could keep expanding indefinitely.
If one day her Fungus cleaned up all the trash on Blue Star, she dared not imagine how vast and boundless her Space would become then.
Hehehe~
Ye Nai indulged in a bit of daydreaming before getting out of bed with a cheerful mood to wash up.
She had just washed her face when her phone rang – a text message. It was from a worker who had been responsible for helping her transport the trash back and forth a few days ago; they had exchanged numbers for work convenience.
What do you think?
