Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi..

Chapter 56 - 56 Finally Back

Chapter 56: Chapter 56 Finally Back

Ye Nai finally chose a restaurant with the longest queue, and by the time it was her turn, it was already dark. She ordered enough food to cover a four-person table, planning to take home whatever she couldn’t eat. Moreover, this restaurant specialized in Mutant Beast Meat, and although it described its dishes as simple home cooking, the check at the end was nearly two thousand yuan.

But the taste was indeed delicious, and she felt completely satisfied spending the money. Walking along the road, with a warm breeze of the night, Ye Nai felt a clarity of mind and thought about her Universal Spore, capable of both killing and healing. Against enemies, there was no need to hold back; just acting as she pleased felt right.

As she walked, she scattered spores, planning for her fungus to cover this vast Secret Realm, whose boundaries had yet to be fully explored, in the coming years and strike her enemies a heavy blow.

At first glance, the environment of the Secret Realm seemed like a splendid natural plain with abundant groundwater, which explained why so many rear-guard small towns could be established here, since other resources could be brought in from outside but not water sources.

Such great land, it would be a shame not to cultivate it.

Back in the military camp’s barracks, Ye Nai took out her phone, finally able to safely go online in the rear-guard small town without fear of enemies tracing the signal and shooting her.

...

Starting from her first day off, the housebound Ye Nai began to live like a shut-in through her phone and internet, especially when she discovered through the Awakener APP that she could order takeout in the rear-guard small town.

The restaurants operated on the same app, allowing her to order normally but without delivery. She had to place a separate errand on the app for someone to get it for her.

Thus, Ye Nai was happy to avoid going out for food; it was scorching hot in the Secret Realm during the day. She would place her orders at the restaurant she liked before meal times, then send someone to pick it up, putting in only the effort to ride her electric bike to the camp’s gate to receive the order, and the extra fee for the errand, which was negligible given her earnings.

The rear-guard small town was too small; food delivery workers under the delivery company’s brand would starve trying to make money here, only those willing to do any task could survive.

Ye Nai had her eyes opened wide. She used to worry about the few job opportunities in East Ridge City and, without competitive professional skills, her only option had been to move rubbish. But only today did she realize how many people chose to work and earn money in the Secret Realm, including ordinary people.

This information had never appeared in her social circle. Her parents spent all day browsing their phones for leisure; she didn’t know if they had seen any relevant information, but she certainly hadn’t come across it when she got her first smartphone. She wouldn’t have known at all if she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes.

News had walls; before she didn’t feel it much, but now she truly understood.

The Awakener APP could actually be registered and used by ordinary people too, but besides taking online classes to learn knowledge, its major features were useless in the city environment. After she became an Awakener, all the information she accessed related to Awakeners, so she never considered ordinary folks.

Actually, thinking more carefully, from the perspective of the state, there had always been national circumstances since the foundation, everyone is a citizen of the country, and it wouldn’t be possible to encourage a huge divide between Awakeners and ordinary people. Thus, the app must be universal.

Why her family had been ignorant of so much information for years, Ye Nai thought for a moment and decided to use the term “big data push” to explain it.

Even if as a child it was self-deceptive, she wanted to spare her parents some dignity, unwilling to criticize them for living in an information cocoon, knowing the words could be harsh.

Regarding her classmates, who might not be like her: on the day of graduation, she learned that most had decided to look for jobs in other places under their parents’ insistence, while her parents truly did nothing, ending with her mother giving her just two thousand yuan.

As their child, she couldn’t guess what her parents thought; both certified, one an accountant, the other an electrician, but they only taught her to keep the family books, not providing any useful skills to help her stand on her own in society.

Ye Nai’s bubbling thoughts abruptly ended as she forcefully interrupted them, pulling out a beer from the Space, popping the cap off, and blowing into the bottle. She couldn’t let herself wallow in such negative emotions, questioning why and the past’s futility could only lead to eventual depression.

With a beer down, the lingering negative feelings swirling in her mind dissipated with the alcohol, and after a trip to the bathroom, not a trace was left.

Ye Nai, revitalized, pulled out her phone to download a free game and started playing with gleeful laughter.

While she was thoroughly enjoying her game, her phone pinged with a new message.

“People are coming to pick us up from the outside, we’ll probably return the day after tomorrow.”

Ye Nai immediately exited the game and replied to the message.

“Are just the three of us driving?”

“Yes, if we can drive ourselves, we should. The car that’s coming has been modified, mainly for transporting the injured.”

“Fortunately, we still have two good vehicles.”

“Haha, true. The vehicles are also well-maintained. Come down and help collect them.”

Ye Nai got up and went outside. The three met under the dormitory building to fetch the cars. In recent days, not only had the vehicles been checked and maintained, but they had also been cleaned inside and out. If one overlooked the scratches on the body, they almost looked brand new.

After admiring the cars, they stored them in the Space, planning to take them out the day after tomorrow.

The next day, Ye Nai ordered food to stock up from the takeout service.

After having various restaurant takeouts for three days, there were, of course, a few dishes she especially liked. She ordered several servings of each, not only for eating on the return trip but also to have at home for a few meals after the exhausting journey, when she wouldn’t feel like cooking.

She spent the day stocking up on various foods. At evening, she received a confirmation that they would depart at 8 a.m. the next morning.

The following morning at 7:30, the three gathered under the dormitory building, took out a car, and drove to meet up with the main force.

The logistic squad member assigned to pick up the people distributed the supplies for each vehicle. Ye Nai also received a supply pack for three, which would cover the food and water for the trio during the journey.

After placing a box of water in the driving cabin, Ye Nai sat in the back of the car, opened the small window in the compartment, and chatted with the front occasionally, to avoid feeling like she was in solitary confinement or in prison.

While waiting to depart, Ye Nai saw a refrigerated truck flash by through the small window, no need to say what it was carrying.

At exactly eight o’clock, the convoy began, heading towards the entrance of the Secret Realm along the highway. They rested by the roadside at noon, where aside from the injured, who had meals provided by a Space User, everyone else ate dry food.

The supply pack for Ye Nai and her companions also contained dry food, but she also took out the packed dishes, making the lunch quite flavorful.

By evening, they reached a small town along the route to rest.

After three days of travel, they finally arrived at the small town at the entrance on the fourth day.

The sky was overcast with the dusk.

“Oh boy, we’re finally back. This mission was truly unforgettable.”

With a sigh from Ye Nai, the two in the driving cabin also laughed along.
