Chapter 8 - Hitting the Jackpot!
Chapter 8: Hitting the Jackpot!
“Anrui Entertainment!” the talent scout said, then hurriedly added after seeing Yang Fan’s confused expression, “The movie king Zhang Yi was shaped by our company.”
“Oh.” Yang Fan replied indifferently, not particularly interested.
The company may have played a role in his success, but Zhang Yi’s own efforts were the most crucial.
“You’re directly attributing his achievement of becoming a movie king to the company’s operations? That’s not quite right.”
Yang Fan turned to leave, not at all interested in this company.
The talent scout was anxious and quickly blocked Yang Fan’s path. “Hey, you don’t recognize Zhang Yi, do you?”
“You must know Wu Jing, though?” The talent scout assumed Yang Fan wasn’t very interested in the entertainment industry and quickly brought up a famous name.
Yang Fan paused his steps, his expression slightly strange as he said, “Don’t tell me that Wu Jing was also shaped by your Anrui Entertainment?”
If this talent scout dared to say that, he would have to consider calling Wu Jing’s agency—how could anyone use Wu Jing’s name to deceive people like this?
The talent scout chuckled. “Well, not exactly.”
“I just wanted to tell you, Wu Jing and our company’s Zhang Yi are currently shooting the movie The Climber together,” the talent scout said smugly.
One might think he was the one working with Wu Jing on the movie.
“Hm, so what?” Yang Fan asked, curious.
“No, wait, do you really not understand, or are you pretending? What I’m trying to tell you is, Anrui Entertainment has great resources. If you join our company, you definitely won’t lose out,” the talent scout said, looking quite pleased.
“I won’t even mention the distant ones. Let me tell you about something recent—this afternoon, Mango TV Radio dragged Wu Jing in for an interview,” he continued with gusto.
“Look at the buzz around Wu Jing!”
“This is Mango’s host, Mango is the number one in variety shows. Without Mango TV holding it down, who watches TV these days?”
“The number one host is scrambling to interview Wu Jing!”
“And Wu Jing still gets along well with our company’s artists. Just look at the network and resources of the artists under our company!”
“I’m telling you, if you sign with us, you’ll have so many great resources you won’t even know which one to pick,” the talent scout boasted, not bothering to hold back.
He was only responsible for recruiting new talent; the distribution of resources after a contract was signed wasn’t his concern. If there were issues later, it would be up to the management team to handle them, not him.
But, judging by Yang Fan’s looks and qualities, if he really joined the company, he’d be a star among the new recruits, and his resources would definitely not be bad.@@novelbin@@
Yang Fan looked at the pleased expression on the talent scout’s face, and his lips twitched.
Is this guy for real? Forced him to do an interview? Who’s the one really dragging others around here?
Yang Fan only wanted to do a street interview at the time. He never imagined it would turn into an actual interview!
The scout was so lost in his self-conviction that he didn’t even notice Yang Fan’s expression.
Yang Fan, with a strange expression, looked at the talent scout and asked, “So, do you know who the host was who interviewed Wu Jing?”
“I certainly know! After listening to the broadcast, I came out. The boring host was named Yang Fan, and he had a female partner called Hao Yue,” the talent scout said disdainfully, rolling his eyes.
Yang Fan nodded gently. “Mm, that’s right. So can you tell me how Yang Fan successfully conducted this interview?”
“After all, I’ll need to butter up the movie king sooner or later. I’d like to learn a few tricks in advance,” Yang Fan said with a meaningful smile.
The talent scout thought that Yang Fan must have been intrigued by the idea of signing with the company. He quickly pulled Yang Fan aside and began speaking excitedly. “Let me tell you, if you want to get close to the movie king, you need to be thick-skinned.”
“At the airport, Wu Jing was there, and the reporter Yang Fan managed to squeeze from the very outside all the way to the front and forced a conversation with Wu Jing.”
“He even cried and begged Wu Jing to accept his interview.”
“Wu Jing had no choice but to accept. Otherwise, with Wu Jing’s status, he wouldn’t be running to a radio station for an interview, right? You know what I mean?”
Yang Fan’s expression was very strange. He didn’t nod, didn’t shake his head—he simply stood quietly, watching the talent scout without saying a word.
The talent scout, still on a roll, continued, “I’m telling you, newbies have to be thick-skinned. Don’t worry about losing face. As long as you can talk to someone on the level of a movie king, people will give you face in the future.”
“For example, that radio host Yang Fan I mentioned earlier, I can’t stand him, but if I see him, I still have to be polite and respectful. After all, he’s had a little interaction with movie king Wu Jing. I wouldn’t dare offend him.”
Yang Fan’s expression remained awkward.
“Do you really want me to sign with your company?” Yang Fan asked, holding back a laugh.
“Well, of course! If I didn’t want you to sign, why would I talk so much?” The talent scout said, a little annoyed.
Yang Fan lightly cleared his throat and continued, “Then why didn’t you ask my name?”
The talent scout froze. Names weren’t important in the entertainment industry. Many people pick stage names after entering the industry.
Real names didn’t matter much.
But since Yang Fan asked, the talent scout reluctantly followed the lead and asked, “What’s your name?”
‘Yang Fan. Yang from Yangliu, Fan from sailboat,’ Yang Fan said with a grin.
The talent scout gulped loudly, instinctively taking a few steps back. He nervously asked, “W-what’s your job?”
If he wasn’t the radio host, it meant it was just a coincidence.
But if he was the radio host…
Then the scout had just run into the real deal!
He had been casually slandering someone, only to realize he’d been badmouthing the real person. Wasn’t that asking for trouble?
And worst of all, the guy had introduced himself!
The scout was truly shaken.
Yang Fan smiled slightly and, in a soothing tone, said, ‘My profession? Mango TV Radio host!’”
What do you think?
