Chapter 1996 Conflicting Egos
-----
To save the girl he loved, even Emerald's alter ego had to make amends with his former self and bring the two of them outside. It was strange, but at the end, this "second person" was just him. The demonic souls held no proper ego of their own, and they had already merged with Emerald's body in a desperate attempt to not disappear as they had no bodies, which can only be granted by Pandemonium's powers.
By doing this, they freed from his control too, becoming independent beings that don't obey him! However, the Legion was still an immensely powerful being, its existence alone influencing Emerald's alter ego to be destructive and chaotic, merciless and ruthless.
Of course, that's without considering Amehia, his weakness, and the connector between Emerald and his alter ego, both of them so different, and yet actually just the same person.
Emerald himself was still processing what happened to him, he was certainly horrified he was possessed by a million demonic souls merged into a demonic specter, yeah, but once things reached this point, he felt grateful to them for giving him the courage to fight and be merciless, to release his full power and go even beyond that.
It was complicated, without a doubt, but right now, in these desperate times, it wasn't as if they had any other option either way. Emerald needed the power of Legion, and the Alter Ego born from Legion possessing him.
He wasn't stupid enough to reject him, and after he was brought back, he was positive that something could be done for the two of them to live as one, even as different as they were, they were still just two faces on the same coin.
Emerald's original personality, and then his second personality, an alter ego born from his desire to become like Drake and Surtr, further demonized by Legion's powers and influence.
And yet, among everyone here, Amehia was the one… enjoying it the most.
"H-Hahaha…! W-What is this weird feeling I have? Why do I like this more than I should?!"
She was questioning herself at the moment, after all, she got a bit excited to know both Emeralds would be there for her, perhaps developing an even more obsessive love.
And yet, unlike some other girls that might be creeped out or terrified, Amehia was all for it!
"I-I believe we can share our body, after all we are still the same person at the end, aren't we?"
"The same?! I might be your alter ego but I consider myself much better than you! I would go as far as saying I am an IMPROVED version of you, something you could NEVER be!"
"And yet… you called for my help, because unlike me, you cannot heal."
"T-That's…!"
"I-I know you're the embodiment of my frustrations, of my grudges, of my pain and my sorrow… And I know it won't be easy to get along with me, I know you hate me for being a weakling too… to even let those demonic souls possess me to begin with… But…"
"But what?! Just say it already instead of going around it!"
"I'm… grateful. Thank you for helping me… for helping us."
"…"
His alter ego remained in silence for a moment, as within the depths of their souls, Emerald and his alter ego emerged as Soul Avatars, amidst a sea of countless ego-less demonic souls swirling endlessly, rejoicing they had a body, even though they couldn't truly govern it.
"You're truly pathetic, you're thanking me after I took over your damn body?!"
"Yeah… What else… what else can I say? H-Hahah…"
"You piece of shit… you haven't changed one bit! You were going to give up everything too, if it wasn't for these souls that possessed you, what would it have been of US?!" Experience tales at My Virtual Library Empire
"…I cannot say for sure, I'm… I'm indeed weak."
"YOU ARE! This is why I was born!"
Emerald faced his alter ego, the two looked near identical, if it wasn't because he was green and the other red.
"I know I'm weak, I know I lack conviction… but Amehia… I love her so much that I would… go through everything I hate for her…"
"Hmph… You better do."
"Let's… work together, for now?"
"For now! But don't get ahead of yourself. This body is mine!"
"I-Its ours though…"
"I control it! And I can choose to either bring you out or bury you and drown you beneath all those demonic souls… I am in charge here."
"Hah… I-I suppose that's fine, you're a better me."
"Tch, why won't you even get pissed?! You're such a goody-two-shoes, disgusting!"
"I'm worried… About master Drake and Surtr, and everyone else. Something weird is going on, and those divine monsters… I-I think we should take them down, before things get worse."
"Before things get worse? Since when did you care?"
"A-Always… This is the home of… of Amehia and her tribe! Of Surtr's… tribe too… if the divine monsters destroy everything, what else will be left? It's… I-It's also my new home."
"Hmph… Whatever! I was feeling like slaughtering and eating souls either way, heh!"
Emerald saw his alter ego make a creepy face as he smiled, showing his sharp teeth while licking his sharp beak.
Indeed, it was so different to his personality, he even enjoyed killing, fighting, and eating souls!
Emerald didn't enjoy any of that, even less eating souls.
"T-Then… then let's go."
"You aren't in charge here! I decide whenever we go, and it will be… right now!"
"I-I just said that…"
"Shut up!"
As their internal talk ended, Amehia tilted her head as she glanced at her beloved, his two halves remained mostly the same, meaning none truly reigned over the other.
They ended maintaining a fine balance…
"Hey, Emerald! There's more monsters coming here…! Do you think we can take them on?!"
Tyrannus looked into the distance, as more Divine Monsters approached, hundreds of them.
Especially of those Rank 10 snail monsters, there was a whole group of dozens of them approaching with their tentacles.
"Are you seriously asking that, old man? Of course we can, stop acting like a coward!"
"O-Old man?! Coward?! Y-You've never treated me in such a way before…!"
"Wow, so cool!"@@novelbin@@
As Tyrannus was shocked by Emerald's insolence to his own father-in-law, Amehia was in awe over his new "cool side".
"I'll give you more power, so use it well."
FLUOSH!
