Chapter 2017: Limitless Path!

Drake looked from above the skies, while he fought an impossibly strong foe, things looked freaking terribly down there.

Emerald had become possessed by thousands of demon souls and gained an alter ego, and he was doing a lot of crazy things.

Surtr was fighting a giant Godzilla-like monster, and he had suddenly turned himself into an aberration fitting inside a book from HP Lovecraft.

His family and friends were alive, but fighting against millions of divine monsters endlessly surging from the depths of the continent.

Ruby and Rakasha were still missing!

Logi and Aegir were cooperating with Surtr's friends to stop him from being a monster, while somehow trying to stop that giant Kaiju.

All while he had no idea what the hell was Emerald and his part doing right now.

"Hah, things are getting out of control… If I create even a single doppelganger, I'll lose stats, and then I'll lose."

He couldn't afford to lose even a single point of his strength, agility, or other stats at the moment.

Drake had to leave it all to them, without being able to help them directly.

This entire time they've been training below him, learning, fighting, growing stronger…

Now it was time for them move forward and walk their own paths.

Because right now, Drake was dealing with thousands of horrors beyond the stars himself!

"SHYAAAAAHHH!"

The aberrant scream of the Chaotic Entities that Chaos summoned with ease echoed through the dark skies, chasing Drake everywhere.

Although not as strong as their master, their power was also about disintegrating matter and destroying it, while warping space itself.

A touch from several of them would rapidly begin decaying his body parts, and with Chaos trying constantly to sneak around him once he lowered his guard or was overwhelmed for a second, he couldn't afford that.

"{Divine Celestial Venerable Swordsmanship}: {Celestial Horizon Cleave}!"

A giant cleaving slash razed through the chaotic monsters, splitting them into two halves and them making them explode into pure divine celestial light.

BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!

As he moved and chased Chaos, Drake was constantly eliminating her monsters.

"She's clearly using them as distraction, she wants me to lower my guard, to eventually get overwhelmed just enough for her to- Like this."

CLAAASH!

He caught her once more, as she was attempting to touch his head a second ago, her little hand was hit by his sword.

"Failed again, twice! Haaah… Not bad, right?!"

"Decay."

"{Limitless Path: Ascension}!"

Drake didn't give up, his eyes shining brightly as Muramasa unleashed immense power, darkness and light combining together into perfect harmony.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

And in that split second, as both clashed, his sword moved faster than Chaos' Decay Fog, slicing and splitting it apart, before aiming at her small body.

And yet, even as several attacks reached her…

"…"

She was unscathed!

"You're one tough nut to crack, aren't you?"

"I could say the same about you."

Chaos wasn't just fast, could teleport anywhere, and had a Decay Touch, but she was also immensely physically tough.

Tougher than Pandemonium…

And this was but a fragment of hers!

Drake couldn't even imagine what she would be like if she had all her body parts and her original body and powers.

Now it made sense in his head how these two brought down all the ancient gods, the titans, and the dragons in the past, and almost destroyed the world in the process.

Only the mysterious "Oblivion" was able to stop them completely, and he and those that survived were the ones that fragmented them apart and sealed them, finding it impossible to destroy them.

"If even that bastard named Oblivion couldn't beat them, then what hope do I have? Hahah…"

As Drake thought that he glanced down at his family, who were looking at the skies, worried about him.

"No… I cannot think like that."

Muramasa and his body suddenly began glowing stranger as Chaos suddenly multiplied into several copies of herself, surrounding Drake in that split second he hesitated.

"I got you."

Her hands reached him from every angle, even blocking the escape way for his soul.

"Die, Drake."

The darkness of Decay engulfed him completely, as Drake kept his eyes closed, while he smiled.

His aura continued growing larger and larger.

"You can feel it, can't you?"

And he heard Muramasa's voice.

"My Soul."

"Ah!"

Drake's eyes widened, as he found himself within complete darkness, and then…

"Grasp my soul, Drake."

A gigantic sword of light and darkness manifested from this eternal obscurity.

Shining so brightly, and looking so umbral at the same time…

Drake felt overwhelmed.

The culmination of all his weapons, and a sword a level higher than even Celestia.

Muramasa's true power and potential had yet to even be tapped into.

Drake's hands touched Muramasa's soul.

In that moment, as he fought for his life, as he tried to find a path forwards, while walking the Limitless Path.

He was rapidly ascending, gaining enlightenment.

In this battle to the death, in these terrifying odds against him.

The Dragon King kept growing.

He had no other choice.

For those he loved.

For his beloved wives, for his beloved children, for his friends and family.

He was their pillar, without him, everything would fall apart.

If he died, everything would be over.

FLAAASH!

Light encompassed him, as Drake's eyes finally opened.

The Fog of Decay was a nanosecond from consuming him entirely.

"{Limitless Path: Eternal Soul}"

FLUOSH!

Bright white light emerged from his body, as his Soul merged with his Immortal Body, similar to what he had done before.

But going even further, mixing such a technique with Limitless Path.

The result?

An Eternal Soul.

FLAAAAASH!

"Ungh?!"

The light was so bright that even Chaos groaned in pain, her Fog of Decay was destroyed, and Drake's blade rushed towards her.

His blade's soul had mixed with his own.

This was…

Eternal Soul!

"HAAAAAH!"

He swung his sword, as his Eternal Soul took the shape of thousands of katanas, a swing of his blade generated a thousand cuts.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

Chaos resisted all blows, glaring at Drake with a distasteful expression.

Crack…

Until a tiny crack appeared in her left shoulder.

"I have to end this quickly."
