Era of Players: Death God

Chapter 245 Hot on his Heels

The ninth floor of the dungeon stretched before Lilith, its dense forests and rocky landscapes bathed in an eerie, golden glow. She stepped into the territory with purpose, her sword, Eclipse, held loosely at her side. The air around her was charged, the faint hum of magic radiating from her body a testament to her mastery over both Space and Wind elements.

Her amber eyes, cold and calculating, scanned her surroundings. Lilith rarely showed emotion, but her resolve was clear: she was chasing Noah.

"He's ahead," she muttered to herself, the faint trail of his mana signature lingering in the air. It was faint but distinct, and her sharp senses locked onto it immediately. She began to move, each step deliberate and precise, her sword glinting ominously in the dim light.

The first obstacle came in the form of a pack of Infernal Wolves, their red eyes glowing menacingly as they prowled toward her. There were five of them, their dark fur bristling as they surrounded her.

Lilith didn't flinch. With a flick of her wrist, she activated her Wind Element, conjuring a gale that howled through the air. The wolves lunged, but Lilith was faster.

With a single step, she vanished, reappearing behind the lead wolf in an instant. Her sword sliced cleanly through its neck, the blade glowing faintly with mana. The wolf's body crumpled to the ground as the others turned, snarling in confusion.

The wind swirled around her, growing sharper and more violent. Lilith extended her free hand, activating her Wind Blades, sending razor-sharp currents toward the remaining wolves. The air itself seemed to scream as the invisible blades tore through flesh and bone, leaving the pack lifeless in seconds.

She didn't even pause to inspect her work. "Weak," she murmured, continuing her pursuit of Noah.

Her path led her to a narrow canyon, the walls towering high on either side. The air here was heavy, almost suffocating, and Lilith could sense the presence of stronger monsters lying in wait.

As she moved deeper into the canyon, the ground trembled. From the shadows emerged a Rock Titan, its massive form covered in jagged stone. The monster roared, its voice echoing through the canyon as it raised a massive fist to strike.

Lilith didn't hesitate. She lifted her sword, channeling her Space Element. The air around her shimmered as she created a distortion field, bending the space between her and the Titan. When the giant fist came crashing down, it struck empty air, the distortion redirecting the attack harmlessly to the side.

Before the Titan could react, Lilith dashed forward, her speed amplified by her Wind Element. She drove Eclipse into the creature's chest, the blade glowing with concentrated mana. The Titan roared in pain, but Lilith was relentless.

She twisted the blade, releasing a burst of compressed wind energy that tore through the monster's core. The Titan crumbled, its massive body collapsing into rubble. Lilith stepped back, her expression unchanging as she brushed dust from her cloak.

"If this is the best this floor has to offer, he's already far ahead," she said, her voice calm but edged with impatience.

Continuing her journey, Lilith arrived at a serene, crystal-clear lake surrounded by vibrant flora. The tranquility was deceptive; she could feel the sinister energy lurking beneath the surface.

As she crossed the lake's edge, the water rippled unnaturally. From its depths emerged a Phantom Leviathan, its serpentine body shimmering with an ethereal glow. Its eyes locked onto Lilith, and it released an ear-piercing screech that sent shockwaves across the surface of the lake.

Lilith's grip on Eclipse tightened. "Another distraction," she muttered, stepping onto the water's surface as if it were solid ground.

The Leviathan lunged, its massive jaws snapping shut inches from her. Lilith countered with a blast of wind, forcing the creature back. She then activated her Spatial Slash, a technique that bent space itself, allowing her to strike from impossible angles.

The Leviathan howled as invisible cuts appeared across its shimmering body, ichor spilling into the water. It thrashed violently, sending waves crashing in every direction, but Lilith was unfazed.@@novelbin@@

She extended her hand, creating a spatial rift above the creature. From the rift, a concentrated sphere of wind energy descended, exploding on impact and tearing the Leviathan apart. The water stilled as its remains dissolved into nothingness.

With the lake behind her, Lilith pressed on, her pace quickening. She could feel Noah's presence growing stronger; he was close, though still ahead.

She paused briefly, sensing something in the distance. A faint smile, barely perceptible, crossed her lips.

"You're pushing yourself, Noah," she said softly. "But so am I, I won't lose this game."

The wind around her picked up as she harnessed its power, propelling herself forward at blinding speed. The forest blurred past her, the world reduced to a streak of green and gold.

"Wait for me," Lilith murmured, her cold amber eyes glowing with determination as she closed the distance between herself and her quarry. "This isn't over."

Lilith emerged from the dense forest into a small clearing bathed in soft sunlight. The area was quiet, save for the gentle rustling of leaves and the occasional chirping of unseen birds. She surveyed the space and deemed it a suitable spot to rest and replenish her energy. Your next chapter is on My Virtual Library Empire

Setting her sword, Eclipse, against a nearby tree, Lilith took a moment to gather her thoughts. She rarely allowed herself to rest, but even she knew the importance of maintaining her strength for the challenges ahead.

From a small pouch strapped to her waist, she pulled out her cooking kit—a compact set of tools and ingredients designed for quick meals in the wild. Lilith moved with practiced efficiency, her cold demeanor unshaken even in the mundane task of meal preparation.

She retrieved a small fish she had caught earlier from a nearby stream, its silvery scales glinting in the sunlight. With a swift motion, she cleaned and gutted it, her knife moving with precision. She then seasoned the fish with a blend of herbs and spices she carried, the faint aroma of thyme and pepper filling the air.

From her kit, she also pulled out some dried vegetables—thin slices of carrots, onions, and a few pieces of dried mushrooms. She rehydrated them with a small splash of water, waiting for them to soften before preparing the meal.

Lilith gathered dry branches and lit a small fire with a flick of her fingers, her Wind Element sparking the flames to life. She placed a lightweight pan over the fire, heating it until it sizzled.

First, she added a bit of oil, the faint crackle signaling it was ready. She placed the fish in the pan, its skin crisping beautifully as it cooked. The smell was enticing, the kind of meal that felt like a luxury in such a dangerous place.

Next, she sautéed the rehydrated vegetables alongside the fish, their vibrant colors returning as they cooked. A sprinkle of salt and a dash of pepper brought out their natural flavors. The combination of fresh fish and earthy vegetables created a simple yet nourishing meal.

Lilith sat cross-legged on the grass, her plate balanced on her knee. She ate slowly, savoring each bite. The meal was warm and satisfying, the perfect antidote to the fatigue creeping into her body.

Her amber eyes softened briefly as she stared into the fire, the flickering flames reflecting in their depths. It was a rare moment of calm for her, a fleeting reprieve in the relentless pursuit of her goal.

When she finished, Lilith cleaned her utensils and extinguished the fire with a wave of her hand, the wind snuffing out the flames in an instant. Rising to her feet, she strapped her sword back to her side and took a deep breath.

"This will have to do," she said to herself, her voice as cold and distant as ever. "Noah's trail grows stronger. It's time to move."
