Even After My Death

Chapter 18 - 18 17 Capture the Second Criminal 2

Chapter 18: Chapter 17 Capture the Second Criminal 2 Chapter 18: Chapter 17 Capture the Second Criminal 2 As soon as Jiang Ning finished speaking, He Mingxu’s expression changed as well.

In He Mingxu’s antique shop, there were too many items and naturally, there were many cabinets.

All of these cabinets were custom-made solid wood cabinets that he had watched the workers decorate bit by bit.

When these cabinets were delivered, they were all solid, except for the one that Jiang Ning pointed to with her hand, which was hollow. Moreover, it was He Mingxu himself who had secretly carved it out, making it look no different from the other cabinets on the surface.

It could be said that no one other than himself was aware of the secret of this cabinet.

Yet, this young girl fearlessly announced it.

A dangerous expression came over his face as he looked at Jiang Ning with a hint of inquiry and caution, “Are you sure you want what’s inside the cabinet?”

“Yeah,” Jiang Ning nodded, seemingly oblivious to He Mingxu’s change of demeanor, “Since the displayed items here are all so pricey, then the treasures hidden inside the cabinet for many years must be even more valuable. I find them quite nice, I’ll take them!”

“Alright. I’ll get them for you,” He Mingxu agreed readily, seemingly about to step forward, but as he got close to Jiang Ning, he suddenly grabbed a porcelain piece that was placed next to him and smashed it towards Jiang Ning’s head!

Jiang Ning was prepared and quickly dodged to avoid He Mingxu’s strike.

“I seem to have underestimated you,” said He Mingxu with a dark expression, his look at Jiang Ning turning extremely dangerous.

He clenched the porcelain in his hand and asked Jiang Ning, “Who are you exactly? How do you know about the stuff in the cabinet?”

Jiang Ning took out a flat-bottomed pan from her shoulder bag, “Uncle, instead of leading a fugitive life, it’s better to surrender to the law.”

She indeed knew about the things in the cabinet!

Looking into Jiang Ning’s eyes, He Mingxu’s gaze was instantly filled with murderous intent.

He looked hostile and without a second word, he charged at Jiang Ning.

Jiang Ning held the flat-bottomed pan tightly, not afraid of He Mingxu at all.

He Mingxu approached and reached out to grab Jiang Ning, swinging his porcelain-holding right hand fiercely at her, clearly not intending to leave her alive.

Jiang Ning raised her hand to catch He Mingxu’s incoming left wrist first, twisting it fiercely and dislocating his left arm in the process.

There was a “crack” sound of bones.

“Ahh!” He Mingxu cried out in pain instantly.

As for the porcelain in his other hand, Jiang Ning used the flat-bottomed pan to block it, and the collision between the porcelain and the pan was like an egg hitting a stone, shattering the porcelain instantly.

Knowing the consequences of letting Jiang Ning go, He Mingxu, even with his left arm dislocated by Jiang Ning, didn’t give up attacking her.

While roaring in anger, he grabbed things from the cabinet and smashed them ruthlessly at Jiang Ning.

Jiang Ning dodged left and right, occasionally using the flat-bottomed pan to block.

Every item that hit the pan was repelled, but Jiang Ning found that the hand holding the pan felt unusually light, not affected by the impact of gravity at all.

Feeling something, Jiang Ning quickly took cover behind a shelf, avoiding He Mingxu’s thrown objects, but she tapped the cabinet lightly with the flat-bottomed pan, causing the solid wood cabinet to dent instantly.

Jiang Ning understood right away.

It was indeed a product of the System, not an ordinary object.

Seeing Jiang Ning hiding behind the cabinet, He Mingxu picked up everything he could carry and furiously threw it at her.

The sound of smashing porcelain filled the air.

Jiang Ning kept dodging while thinking of a plan.

She slowly moved toward the far-left container.

He Mingxu seemed to have guessed Jiang Ning’s intention and had somehow obtained a broom, using its handle as a weapon, he swung it viciously at Jiang Ning.

“I’m going to kill you!” He Mingxu roared, his eyes evidently bloodshot with rage.

He swung the stick with all his might, each time putting his full strength into it.

Jiang Ning did not hesitate to believe that if she were hit by him, if not dead, she would be disabled.

Fortunately, the antique shop was small, and there was a row of containers for cover; the broomstick was too long to be wielded effectively in such a cramped space.

Jiang Ning agilely dodged, occasionally using the Flat-bottomed Pan to shield herself from a blow.

“Ouch! What in the world is… what happened to you?” Suddenly, another voice rang out from outside the shop, apparently attracted by the commotion inside.

After seeing the mess inside, she stood at the door and shouted, “Help! Help! Something’s happened here!”

He Mingxu was startled and suddenly stopped what he was doing.

This pause suddenly gave Jiang Ning an opportunity.

Jiang Ning grabbed the broom from his hand and yanked hard, dragging He Mingxu several steps forward and then found the broom wrested from her grip.

With the broom in her hands, Jiang Ning struck He Mingxu repeatedly.

He Mingxu was not as nimble as Jiang Ning and was solidly hit several times by the broomstick.

As he was distracted by the pain, Jiang Ning took the Flat-bottomed Pan and slammed it hard against the suspicious container.

In an instant, the wood splintered under the force of the pan, revealing the long-hidden items inside.

Upon seeing the black bag, He Mingxu suddenly sobered up.

Without a word, and not even bothering about Jiang Ning, he turned to run.

Jiang Ning’s eyes narrowed, and she threw the broomstick at his feet.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Zhang Lang in his police uniform standing at the door, Jiang Ning immediately called out, “Officer Zhang, catch him! He’s a fugitive!”

After hanging up with Jiang Ning, Zhang Lang had rushed to Happiness Road.

But as he walked briskly from one end of the street to the other, he found no sign of Jiang Ning.

Just as Zhang Lang was about to call Jiang Ning, he heard someone shouting that something had happened, so he ran over to take a look.

With no understanding of the situation, he was suddenly summoned by Jiang Ning to catch a criminal.

Although still puzzled, Zhang Lang’s professional instincts kicked in the moment he heard the words “catch the criminal,” and he grew alert.

Zhang Lang’s gaze settled on He Mingxu.

When He Mingxu saw the justice-emblazoned police uniform on Zhang Lang, his heart skipped a beat, and he turned to run towards the back door.

But the floor was littered with too many shattered items, and with Zhang Lang’s agile skills, it took less than three minutes for He Mingxu to be subdued and handcuffed with a set of silver cuffs.

After subduing He Mingxu, Zhang Lang finally turned to Jiang Ning, “What’s happening here? And what has he done?”

Before Jiang Ning could reply, He Mingxu began to wail, “Officer, Officer, it’s a misunderstanding! I haven’t committed any crimes! If you have to arrest someone, arrest her! Look what she’s done to my shop!”

Zhang Lang’s eyes fell upon the chaotic floor, his expression suddenly turning serious, “Miss Jiang Ning, what is going on here?”

Jiang Ning crouched in front of the container just broken by the Flat-bottomed Pan, pried open the wood panels a few centimeters thick with her hands, and pulled out the black bag, tossing it in front of Zhang Lang, “Here, take a look at this, and you’ll understand.”
