Evil Witch Saves the World

Chapter 19: My Mother... is the Strongest Witch?

After a few more minutes, Bai Anan finally heard the door open. She saw Miss Yan walking out with the clothes Heer had worn earlier, and behind her followed a blue-haired girl wearing a nun's habit with round leather shoes, her face flushed red.

"Humiliating... this is so humiliating... As a respectable Level 2 Magician, to be treated like this..."

Heer covered her apple-red cheeks, angrily growling at Yan, like a free kitten that had been shackled with clothes and now harbored resentment toward its owner.

But in Bai Anan's eyes, Heer didn't look bad at all. Quite the opposite—with her beauty second only to Bai Xuerou's, plus the childlike innocence of youth in stark contrast with the mature black nun's habit, Bai Anan was completely mesmerized.

In Bai Anan's eyes, Heer now truly looked like a nun serving angels and gods, not a maid at all.

"So... so beautiful..." Bai Anan said with a blush, her heart beating rapidly. Somehow, while she hadn't had any particular reaction to Heer before, once she put on these clothes, something stirred within her.

"?"

Heer, who had been feeling embarrassed just moments ago, suddenly heard someone complimenting her. She lowered her hands and looked at Bai Anan with disgust, as if she were looking at a pervert.

"What are you staring at? Don't think your compliments will make me serve you. If you think it looks good, wear it yourself! Being looked at with that expression... it's disgusting!"

"Eh?" Being scolded like this, Bai Anan finally realized that staring at someone's body with such a lewd expression was indeed inappropriate. She blushed and turned her head away.

That's right, my heart belongs only to Xuexue. How could I possibly feel...

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to..."

"Ouch!"

"Hm?"

Before Bai Anan could finish apologizing, she heard Heer cry out in pain. Looking back, she saw a large bump on Heer's head, still steaming. The culprit was the maid sister standing nearby.

Her right hand had formed a karate chop, apparently what she'd used to hit Heer. Her face showed displeasure—she clearly didn't like what Heer had just said to Bai Anan.

"It's your blessing that the young mistress complimented you. And remember to call her 'Young Mistress' from now on. If the master sees you behaving otherwise, a knock on the head will be the least of your worries."

Yan said coldly, only lowering her hand after Heer nodded obediently. Then she turned to Bai Anan.

"Young Mistress, I'll take my leave now. If she does anything to upset you, just call for me."

"Ah, okay..."

Bai Anan nodded absentmindedly, watching Miss Yan's departing figure. She quickly went to Heer's side, moistened her finger with saliva, and gently rubbed the bump on her head.

Though she had agreed verbally, if Heer really did upset her, she wouldn't tell Bai Xuerou or Miss Yan. After all, she needed to build up goodwill—how could she do something like that?

Feeling Bai Anan's hand on her head, along with the sticky sensation, Heer's body suddenly trembled. She quickly pushed Bai Anan's hand away, looking at the dazed white-haired girl with embarrassment and anger.

"What are you doing... Wait!"

Halfway through her sentence, Heer remembered something and quickly looked back. Seeing that Yan had just turned her head, Heer hastily changed her words.

"Young Mistress, please stop playing with me. I can handle this myself."

Heer clasped her hands together, bowing to Bai Anan with apparent sincerity while checking on the maid sister behind her.

Only after making sure Yan had truly left did she carefully stand up and look at Bai Anan with a darkened expression.

"I'm warning you, don't tell anyone I pushed your hand away just now. Otherwise, I'll get another karate chop."

"Mmm, I won't tell anyone, I swear!"

Bai Anan put her right hand beside her head in a swearing gesture, blinking her deep blue eyes with determination.

Hmm, she seems quite gullible. Who would have thought the Red Moon Witch's daughter would be so foolish... but that's good, easier to deceive!

Like Bai Anan, Heer was also placing her hopes of escape on the other person. In her view, after the Red Moon Witch, the most powerful person in this mansion was this white-haired girl.

"Good, good. Then from now on, I'll be your friend. After all, suddenly becoming someone's maid and wearing such embarrassing clothes isn't something I'm entirely willing to do. I'll call you 'Young Mistress' in front of others, but when we're alone, we'll be friends. How's that?"

Of course, Heer wouldn't reveal her true intentions. She wanted to use friendship with Bai Anan as an excuse to learn about the mansion's layout to facilitate her escape.

Bai Anan had no problem with Heer's proposal. She didn't want a master-servant relationship with Heer either—in her eyes, equality was better.

"Mmm, I don't mind, but you need to answer some questions for me first."

Bai Anan nodded, but fearing her agreement might seem too casual, she added a condition. She still didn't know enough about Bai Xuerou's witch identity, since she'd only seen it during punishments and didn't know how far her mother's power extended.

"Fine, ask whatever you can, as long as I can answer. But afterward, you have to show me around this house."

"Okay. So, what do you know about my mother, the witch? You all seem quite hostile toward her..."

"Oh, witches," hearing Bai Anan's question, Heer nodded and thought for a moment. Though she didn't understand why the witch's daughter would ask such a question, for the sake of escape, she answered solemnly.@@novelbin@@

"In human eyes, witches don't exist. They appear to the world as natural disasters—unusual earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes. They look like natural phenomena, but they're actually caused by witches trying to destroy the world. The reason the world hasn't been destroyed is entirely because special groups like us magicians fight in places humans can't see."

"Eh... are witches really that terrifying?"

Bai Anan was shocked. According to Heer, she might have encountered witches in her previous life without knowing it.

Realizing she might have been dancing on the edge of world destruction, she could hardly believe it.

"Then, is my mother a powerful witch too?"

"Pfft..." Hearing Bai Anan's naive question, Heer couldn't help but laugh.

"Your mother, the Red Moon Witch, is the strongest living witch, second only to the White Night Witch. She possesses three authorities—madness, bloodiness, and space. Most witches only have one authority."

"My mother... is the strongest witch right now?"
