Evil Witch Saves the World

Chapter 26: What Happened to Escaping Together?

In the midst of a vast forest stood a massive red mansion. Through the windows, one could see a white-haired girl wearing a small dress, holding a violin and playing simple yet beautiful melodies under her teacher's guidance.

At this moment, Princess-like Bai An'an captivated Lisa, and even Heer, who wasn't feeling well today, was entranced, momentarily forgetting her current situation.

Bai An'an herself didn't know how, but as soon as she picked up the violin, she instinctively knew how to play it. Her fingers, without receiving any conscious commands from her, pressed the strings perfectly. Apart from still needing to read music sheets, she had mastered almost everything a beginner would know.

After finishing the piece, Bai An'an took the violin from her left shoulder, wiping the fine beads of sweat from her forehead, and looked excitedly toward Teacher Lisa.

"Teacher... how was it?"

"Perfect... absolutely perfect!" Lisa applauded generously, her expression showing admiration for Bai An'an's natural talent. In her lifetime, she had taught hundreds of students, but Bai An'an might be the first she'd seen who mastered it on the first day.

"Then... what about Sister Heer?"@@novelbin@@

Bai An'an walked up to Heer and continued asking.

Bai An'an remembered that before Heer was brought to this mansion by Bai Xuerou, she seemed to be a young lady from a prestigious family. As such, she should have had more exposure to elegant instruments like this. Although being praised by the teacher already made her happy, she still wanted confirmation from someone else.

Hearing Bai An'an call her name, Heer, who had been immersed in the music, finally came back to her senses. She blushed and nodded.

"Ah, it was... very good. Although the piece was simple, it's only the master's first day of learning, which makes it quite impressive."

"Calling me master again..." Bai An'an muttered under her breath, but she only pouted before running over to Yan.

"Sister Yan, how was my playing just now?"

"Young miss, you played very well. It reminded me of an old acquaintance who also loved playing the violin daily, and her sound was similar to yours," Yan's red eyes gazed at Bai An'an, and the silhouette of a white-haired person seemed to appear in her pupils. "Unfortunately, she has parted ways with me, and I can no longer hear her music."

"Ah..." Bai An'an immediately recalled the story Sister Yan had told her before.

Since Sister Yan spoke like this, her acquaintance had likely met with misfortune... I'm such a fool, accidentally touching on someone's painful memories...

Bai An'an felt guilty toward Sister Yan. She promptly bowed to Yan and said sincerely:

"I'm sorry."

"..." Looking at the young miss apologizing, Yan was stunned for a moment before slowly replying, "You don't need to apologize."

"Mm..."

For the rest of the time, the two teachers didn't teach Bai An'an anything else. Instead, they drank tea and chatted, perhaps because Bai An'an's rapid progress had completed their lesson plan for the day.

For Bai An'an, it wasn't important that the teachers didn't teach her anything else. While she enjoyed being praised, right now she was more focused on escaping. With Bai Xuerou still away, this was the perfect opportunity.

"Sister Heer, let's go quickly and find a way to escape!"

Bai An'an rushed to Heer's side and grabbed her hand, intending to run upstairs. But to her surprise, Heer didn't move along with her and remained frozen in place.

"Sister Heer, what's wrong?"

Bai An'an released Heer's hand and blinked her innocent eyes, not understanding Heer's unusual behavior today.

"I... An... no, master, why don't we not look for a way to escape for now?"

When Heer said this, she couldn't even look Bai An'an in the eyes. Despite being several centimeters taller than Bai An'an, she now seemed like a frightened little sister.

"Huh? Sister Heer, what... what are you saying?"

Bai An'an found Heer increasingly strange, especially her words just now, which were completely different from yesterday when she had been eager to leave.

"I'm being very clear, master. I think we'd better obey the witch's orders," Heer continued with lifeless eyes, saying things Bai An'an couldn't believe.

She didn't dare look at Bai An'an's expression anymore. She only knew that if they continued to cause trouble and Bai Xuerou caught them, Bai An'an would be subjected to that kind of treatment again.

Bai An'an was completely dumbfounded. The helper she had finally gained had somehow switched sides to Bai Xuerou.

Bai An'an didn't know what tomorrow's punishment had done to Heer; she only knew she had to win Heer back, or else what she suffered yesterday would be for nothing.

"Sister Heer, what did my mother do to you? Tell me, and we'll figure something out together, okay?"

Bai An'an grabbed Heer's hands again, this time with both of her own, asking in a humble tone.

"The witch didn't do anything to me. I just feel that we're too insignificant compared to her right now. If we get caught again, you'll be punished again..."

"Rather than that... let's wait for Senior Tang Le to come rescue us..."

"I'm not afraid of punishment!"

Bai An'an suddenly shouted, startling Heer. She was about to object, but when she turned around, she once again saw Bai An'an's frenzied, ferocious expression.

"But... I'm afraid..." After saying this, Heer fell back into her memories, where the image of a girl in white clothes with a ferocious face gradually overlapped with the princess-like sister before her.

"Oh my? Why is my daughter shouting as soon as I return? Did someone upset you?"

"Eek!"

Hearing the familiar voice from the entrance, Bai An'an's pupils dilated. She turned to see that Bai Xuerou had somehow returned home, and the two teachers had disappeared at some point.

"No... no, Mother. I was just... a bit excited just now... no one upset me..."

Bai An'an gave one last look at the silent Heer, struggled to calm herself, and once again put on a cheerful smile to face Bai Xuerou.

She knew that if she didn't explain, Bai Xuerou would target Heer again, as their argument had been too obvious.

"Is that really so?"

Bai Xuerou approached Bai An'an, stroked her snow-white, silky hair, and crouched down to ask, like a venomous snake luring a white rabbit into a trap.

"Really! Today I was very happy. I did well with painting and violin practice, and both teachers were kind to me... Really, no one upset me..."

"Is that so? Well then, after I put these things away, show me what you've learned."

Even though Bai An'an spoke without confidence, Bai Xuerou chose not to pursue the matter and went to put the newly bought groceries in the refrigerator.

"Sister Heer... what's wrong with you?"

Looking at the silent Heer beside her, Bai An'an suddenly felt that this companion had become a stranger.
