Chapter 249 Dragonic Resonance
Gideon's short swords gleamed in the moonlight as he asked, "And what makes you think you can tell me to do something and I will? I only take orders from my liege."@@novelbin@@
The woman gritted her teeth, revealing fangs, and muttered slowly in frustration, "I don't know how a random ant obtained a humanoid form, but for it to be talking disrespectfully to me, the princess of the green dragon tribe, it's simply unacceptable!" Her mana surged even more, and then, in that moment, the wounds on her body began to heat up, emitting steam as they slowly closed.
The woman's body began to morph, growing larger and larger until she finished her transformation into a gigantic green dragon. Her scales glinted under the moonlight, and the tip of her very long tail seemed to have a long sharpened scale, resembling some sort of sword. Spreading her wings in the air, she let out a colossal roar that echoed, pushing Gideon back slightly.
In that moment, Akun, Mellin, Yandol, and Kalardix suddenly felt a strange sting in their cores, causing all of them to collectively muse, "What was that?" For a moment, these four with dragonic qualities felt some sort of connection, and for the first time, they all sensed each other's presence.
It was as if some sort of switch was flicked on in their cores, signaling the arrival of something that would surely change the course of their world.
Yandol paused in the hallway of the demon king's castle, now dressed in elegant black and silver robes that gracefully trailed behind him. The complex silver embroidery on his attire depicted subtle demonic symbols, adding an air of dark sophistication. Simple yet refined silver accessories could be found on his clothes, from discreet cufflinks to a meticulously crafted belt that cinched his waist.
His attire exuded a blend of authority and mystery.
Camilla, the demon sin of lust, with her silver tails gracefully swaying, her silver hair cascading down, and bluish lipstick enhancing her allure, noticed Yandol's sudden pause. She yelled out to him, "Yandol, why the sudden pause? If you don't want to be punished by our lord, you had better pick up the pace. We are leaving." With a seductive glance, she turned around and continued on her path.
Yandol, slightly flustered, stuttered, "I-I'm c-coming," quickening his pace to swiftly catch up to her.

As he finally caught up to her, he mused inwardly. "Although I don't know exactly what that sensation was in my chest earlier, I am most certain I felt a connection to the people of the dragon race—four very powerful beings. One of them seemed to have the power to easily rival the demon king." A small smile crept onto his face as he mused further. "I should find a way to contact them.
I'm sure if I can, they will be able to save me and my wife from the clutches of the demon king. I just have to find a way to make contact with them. Hopefully, I achieve that before I become too far gone and lose myself in this darkness."
Meanwhile, back in the godforsaken forest, in his royal chambers, Akun sat up from his king-sized bed and clenched his well-defined chest as he muttered with a slightly serious tone, "System, what was that just now?"
The system's voice echoed in response,[The sensation the player just felt is known as resonance.]
[It happens when a closely related powerful species are able to feel each other's presence, due to certain intense emotions or physical pain.]
[Although described as such, resonance can only be sent out by powerful members of that race. Weak members can never achieve it, even if they were at death's door. It is most common among the dragons; in fact, they are the only race that can send it out.]
Akun then muttered in confusion, as he slowly used his right hand to remove his silver hair from his line of vision, "So are you saying a dragon somewhere just sent out resonance? So now I can feel their presence. But who exactly is it? The only dragons I know of are Mellin and Kalardix. Who are these other two I'm feeling?
And wait, the fact I'm able to feel their presence, does that mean I'm some sort of dragon?"
The system responded, saying, [Yes indeed, player. After all, evolution by the consumption of beast souls is for you to inherit their attributes. Although only superior attributes would be shown, weak ones would remain recessive. Since the player consumed a dragon's beast soul, the player is technically a dragon too.]
Akun then muttered, "Really?" He let out a chuckle and decided to lie back down in his bed, musing inwardly, "Although the dragons were supposed to be slaughtered a few thousand years ago, it seems two of them survived." He narrowed his gaze as he looked at the ceiling of his chambers, his sight falling on the golden chandelier.
He mused further, "I hope that both don't come to me and start a fight about how this used to be their home. A battle of such a scale would probably completely leave a tribe in ruins." Akun then slowly closed his eyes, thinking, "Well, I guess I'll sleep for now. I'll think about what to do when I encounter any of them when I wake up tomorrow morning."
Meanwhile, In the heart of the royal capital of the Holy Empire, within the bustling Adventurers Guild building, Mellin and Kalardix engaged in lively conversation with their fellow adventurers. Laughter echoed through the air, blending with the occasional clinking of tankards and the low hum of various discussions.
Suddenly, an unanticipated stillness gripped the room. The lively conversations dwindled, and curious gazes converged on Mellin and Kalardix, who had ceased their chatter. Darius, seated nearby, broke the silence with concern, "Are you guys alright? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Kalardix, positioned next to Mellin, couldn't resist a murmured inquiry, "Mellin, did you feel that?"
Mellin, her usually composed expression maintaining its serious demeanor, calmly responded, "Yes, I did, and it feels kind of familiar." As they exchanged words, the ambient sounds of the guild gradually resumed, but an undercurrent of tension lingered, casting a mysterious aura over the atmosphere.
What do you think?
