Jo Yi-shin not only knew that Baek Ho-gun had studied famous games, but he also knew exactly which games he had studied.

Moreover, Jo Yi-shin could pinpoint Baek Ho-gun’s weaknesses.

Baek Ho-gun, too, could easily tell if someone was handling a sword for the first time or identify their weak points during a sparring session, so this wasn’t surprising to him.

However, even though he wasn’t surprised, it didn’t feel good to be on the receiving end of it.

“I know you’ve studied famous games. But I’ve studied those too. So, of course, I know the counters to the strategies used in those games. Didn’t you think of that? Also, it seems you still don’t fully grasp the differences between Chinese chess and regular chess.”

Baek Ho-gun was about to argue that he wouldn’t have studied if he hadn’t understood the differences, but Jo Yi-shin moved first.

With a quick motion, the child captured and moved Baek Ho-gun’s white knight.

Seeing the movement of the piece, Baek Ho-gun’s dissatisfaction quickly faded.

“You’re mixing up the knight in chess with the horse in Chinese chess. The knight can move over other pieces unlike the horse, so if you move the knight like this….”

Jo Yi-shin’s tone wasn’t exactly friendly, but he chose his words carefully, offering exactly what Baek Ho-gun needed to hear.

Despite his youth, Jo Yi-shin seemed to have some experience in teaching others.

“I’ve taught my younger siblings how to play chess.”
