Chapter 400: 398. What is a "Europa master"?
Chapter 400: 398. What is a “Europa master”?
In New York City.
The sky was gloomy, and it was morning, with dawn approaching.
A torrential downpour persisted.
Hardly any pedestrians could be seen on the streets.
Everything exuded an atmosphere of tranquility and silence.
All the Evil Spirits in the city had been wiped out for various reasons.
In a way, New York was the safest known city.
Suddenly…
A bright bolt of lightning streaked across the night sky above.
The sky brightened significantly.
The ghostly outline of the Horror House quietly emerged in the overcast sky, then disappeared without a trace the next second.
No one saw it.
Meanwhile, at the entrance of an unlicensed underground bar in the Red Light District.
Tom sat at the door with a blank expression, his eyes bloodshot.
Since being dragged to the Red Light District by Father Tony the day before yesterday, he had endured the most difficult and painful time of his life.
Unaware of Tom’s suffering, Father Tony busied himself with his activities during the day, and at night he lingered in the Red Light District, partying hard.
Of course, only Father Tony was truly enjoying himself.
Tom, on the other hand, was tormented, filled with envy and resentment.
He thought of leaving several times but couldn’t find a suitable excuse.
He couldn’t possibly tell Father Tony that he was done, could he?
So he just had to endure.
“Fuck! When will these days end? Come back soon, brother, I’ve taken all the weight on my shoulders, and it’s too hard!”
Tom’s voice was filled with sorrow, tears glittering in his eyes.
“If I had known it would be like this, why did I boast with that asshole Father Tony? I might as well have stayed home and comforted myself!”
“You crazy women of the Veda Sect! You wait, I will make you pay…”
Tom wiped away his tears, took a deep breath, and made a decision in his heart.
Then, he took out his phone and made a call to his boss: “Boss, I suspect that the cultists we locked up in prison still have some things they haven’t fully disclosed, I request to be transferred to work in the women’s prison!”
…
On another side of New York City, a bus dragged the reflection of West Gana City and rushed past at high speed.
The Horror House was in hot pursuit.
Inside the bus,
Du Wei continued to flip a coin for the Evil Spirit Driver.
Of course,
He had now switched to a target with a physical form, as the previous Evil Spirit Driver made him feel very uncomfortable.
After flipping coins for half an hour, the chance of getting the bad side was only 10 percent.
It didn’t make any sense.
Only by comparison could one see the difference.
Together, Du Wei and the shadow were significantly worse off compared to that well-dressed Evil Spirit Driver.
He found this very abnormal.
But he couldn’t provide a reasonable explanation.
So he had no choice but to give up on the extremely lucky Evil Spirit Driver and switch to another target.
Thankfully, the new target wasn’t so lucky.
Bad luck all the way down.
With one or two more flips, it seemed likely to be over.
As for the extremely fortunate Evil Spirit Driver,
Du Wei had marked it.
Perhaps, at some point, it might play a strange role.
At that moment,
The coin was flipped into the air.
When it landed in the new Evil Spirit Driver’s palm, it showed tails.
In an instant,
A bizarre feeling surged in Du Wei’s heart.
He quickly stepped back.
He saw the Evil Spirit Driver before him emitting an eerie aura.
The cold was replaced by something sinister.
The Evil Spirit Driver’s original skin was very pale, but now it was black from head to toe.
Um…
It wasn’t just the area between the eyebrows that was dark…
Behind the Evil Spirit Driver’s head,
A scythe clung tight to its neck, and black mist spread downward from the blade, gradually enveloping it completely.
This scene looked as if misfortune had turned into some kind of substance.
From concept to reality.
Then, the scythe moved.
It was as if a pair of invisible, giant hands were pressing the scythe down onto the Evil Spirit Driver’s neck, piercing straight through it.
Right after, the black mist disappeared.
Together with the enveloped Evil Spirit Driver, vanished without a trace.
The bus, still in motion, suddenly seemed to sense something and slowed down abruptly.
Then the lights on the ceiling went out.
A terror to the extreme, a glance that would make one’s soul shiver upon contact, focused on Du Wei.
It wasn’t what he expected.
The bus seemed about to make its move on him.
In the darkness, Du Wei’s breathing became rapid, and his calm eyes now held a hint of ferocity. He put on his mask and prepared to fire his flintlock gun.
But the next second.
Du Wei felt as if he had been struck by a blunt weapon; the scene before him blurred and twisted.
Consciousness plunged into darkness.
Drip drip…
The lights on the ceiling lit up again.
Only twelve Evil Spirit Drivers remained in the bus compartment.
And a part of the city’s reflection quietly slipped out of the bus’s control and also vanished.
…
June 18th.
10 a.m.
The rain in Jedecra State had stopped.
The moisture in the air was quickly evaporated by the scorching heat, making it even more suffocating.
Suddenly…
In a public restroom in the city,
Du Wei’s figure quietly appeared.
His body was tense, one hand holding a flintlock gun, the other intermingled with a Joker Card.
This posture looked somewhat strange.
“Got kicked out of the game again?”
His voice was hoarse.
That shouldn’t be right…
Du Wei put away the flintlock gun and Joker Card, feeling somewhat bewildered as he pushed open the restroom door, filled with confusion.
Just a moment ago,
he could feel that the bus had really intended to kill him, but why did it end up with him being kicked out of the game, alive and back to…
Reality?
“Where is this place?”
Du Wei frowned and glanced around: “Restroom?”
He took out his phone to check.
Low battery, GPS positioning showed this was West Gana in Jedecra State.
Somehow,
Du Wei’s gaze turned peculiar.
He had an idea of what had happened.
The Evil Spirit Drivers were the anchors of the bus, stabilizing the reflection of West Gana City.
He had killed one unlucky Evil Spirit Driver, and so there was trouble with the city’s reflection.
The anchors couldn’t secure the target.
And so, he had returned to reality along with the reflection of the city.
But this didn’t quite make sense either.
“There’s something wrong with the bus…”
Du Wei squinted his eyes and stepped out of the restroom.
Outside, the weather was clear, but it did nothing to lift the gloom in his heart.
This was very bothersome.
He had an intuition that if he got on the bus again next time, he would likely die on it.
In other words, the bus he used to escape had now become a deadly trap, and although he wasn’t sure of its intentions, he knew he couldn’t get on it again.
The awkward thing was that Du Wei had already marked the bus and the Evil Spirit Driver.
Unless he never used his Marking Ability for the rest of his life, he was bound to confront the bus again.
Du Wei looked at his Right Hand and stood motionless under the sun.
After a long while, he finally spoke, “If that’s the case, then the next time I activate the mark, will be when I confront the Evil Spirit Du Wei.”
“Although these troubles are on me now, by that time, they will become its own.”
“It won’t let this body die, so it will confront the bus, and even the persistently pursuing Horror House.”
