Exorcist's Self-Cultivation

Chapter 409: 407. Remembering Pennywise Day

Chapter 409: 407. Remembering Pennywise Day

After leaving the church.

Du Wei drove down the main street.

From the Joker Card to coins, then to dice.

The strange items on his person grew increasingly numerous.

And all these things bore odd side effects.

Of course.

...

This was of little concern to Du Wei.

All the items revolved around the Masked Evil Spirit – the Shadow, forming Du Wei’s trump card.

As long as the Shadow could withstand it.

All the side effects would fall on it.

But…

If the Shadow were to die from this one day, Du Wei’s trump card would be wasted by a large part.

Just by himself, he simply couldn’t bear those side effects.

Take the Joker Card, for example, Du Wei hardly dared to make a wish without donning the mask and wrapping himself in the Shadow’s shell.

Not to mention the coin.

Haunted by bad luck, he might even stumble while walking, or worse, stumble to his death.

But the Shadow did its duty and bore all of it.

As the groveling Envelope said, it could take a lot.

“Perhaps when I face the Veda Sect later, I should strengthen the Shadow again, lest it dies out of the blue one day,”

Du Wei silently thought to himself.

There was no more useful Evil Spirit than the Shadow, even if he created another Masked Evil Spirit, he couldn’t find a suitable one.

The Shadow combined assassinations with rapid growth.

The average Evil Spirit, or rather Evil Spirit, didn’t weigh as heavily in Du Wei’s heart.

Unexpectedly.

Du Wei suddenly thought of Pennywise.

Previously, Pennywise’s importance to him was second only to the Shadow.

“If only Pennywise were still here,”

“If the Shadow couldn’t hold up, I could use it to top up. Pity, when I left the Mirror Evil Spirit’s world last time, I couldn’t bring it back.”

“I guess it has probably been killed by the Evil Spirit Du Wei by now…”

Du Wei sighed, realizing the importance of having more reliable Evil Spirits.

Otherwise, he always felt somewhat uneasy.

“Alas, it’s all because Pennywise died too early,”

Unable to help himself, Du Wei lamented again.

At this moment.

At the Veda Sect headquarters in Europe.

A red balloon floated in the air above the immense castle.

A long tether held it in place.

Outside the castle stood thousands of Veda Sect Cultists.

Their faces pallid, they stared at the red balloon above.

Fear deepened in everyone’s eyes.

Fear is of the unknown.

Different people fear different things, whether beings or objects, or other entities.

Fear might be a segment of memory, it might be a legend passed down by word of mouth.

As the fear within the Veda Sect Cultists thickened,

The red balloon swelled increasingly larger.

Inside, the contour of the Pennywise Clown became ever more distinct.

“Hehe…”

Suddenly, a strange laughter echoed from the depths of the Cultists’ hearts.

Low and oppressive.

It carried intense malice, as well as a chilling coldness.

The people shuddered violently, and then felt an unprecedented emptiness.

They looked around in confusion.

Their clothes were soaked in cold sweat.

“What’s happening?”

“I don’t know…”

“Did someone just laugh?”

The Veda Sect Cultists quickly regained consciousness, but the light in their eyes had dimmed.

They dispersed in all directions, no longer lingering outside the castle.

The huge red balloon above was unconsciously neglected by them.

Everything seemed very odd.

And within the castle.

Within that mirror.

Mist boiled and churned.

A mirror, crisscrossed with cracks, silently stood erect in the darkness.

Reflected in the mirror was a man sitting on a throne, dressed in black, his face expressionless, his eyes closed, deep in slumber.

It was the Evil Spirit Du Wei.

In his left hand, he held a surgical knife, while his right hand pulled on a fuse that seemed to stretch far into the darkness, leading toward an unknown destination.

Even in sleep, his posture maintained an elegance.

This was the world of the Mirror Evil Spirit, but the master was no longer the Mirror Evil Spirit.

It was now him.

The Mirror Evil Spirit of yesteryear had been assimilated by the Evil Spirit Du Wei.

Additionally, there was the original Joker Card, containing a fraction of an Evil Spirit within.

The current Evil Spirit Du Wei was just a title.

He was no longer confined to being an evil spirit.

Suddenly, the Evil Spirit Du Wei sensed something and abruptly pulled on the fuse.

The fuse moved.

A clown, dressed in a circus costume and with red paint on his face, was pulled out of nowhere into the Mirror World.

“Hehehe…”

Pennywise fell to the ground, looking at the Evil Spirit Du Wei seated on the throne with a mix of fear and malevolence.

It had become more terrifying than before.

Moreover, the trigger seemed different now, not limited to children.

The followers of the Veda Sect had also become targets to nourish it.

Fear made it stronger.

It also made it more irritable.

But the next second.

The Evil Spirit Du Wei slowly opened his eyes, those cold, lifeless pupils devoid of any emotion.

Pitch darkness.

“Do you wish to rebel against me?”

The Evil Spirit Du Wei looked down at Pennywise with a hint of mockery in his tone.

The latter trembled slightly, curling up, not daring to look at the Evil Spirit Du Wei.

It seemed that to Pennywise, the man before it had become a nightmare.

It was afraid.

It was terrified.

But the Evil Spirit Du Wei was indifferent, his cold eyes narrowing slightly.

With a bang,

The shivering Pennywise let out a sharp, piercing scream and then exploded.

“The only reason I haven’t killed you is that you are bound by another me.”

“You should know, everything you have is given by me.”

“I can make you strong, let you live up to now, and can easily crush you.”

The voice of the Evil Spirit Du Wei was merciless. He had conducted many experiments on Pennywise.

Using the cultists of the Veda Sect as sacrifices, he continually empowered Pennywise.

The purpose was simple.

He wanted to turn everyone in the Veda Sect into evil spirits, just as the Veda Sect had done.

But Pennywise never learned its lesson.

The plan had just begun, and it was already harboring thoughts of rebellion.

Therefore, the Evil Spirit Du Wei wanted to teach it a more profound lesson.

For a time,

The Mirror World witnessed a horrifying scene.

Pennywise reappeared, then exploded again.

The cycle repeated endlessly.

Gradually, the outline of Pennywise became blurrier, its expression changing from fierce to one of deep fear, and finally, numbness.

The Evil Spirit Du Wei was somewhat satisfied.

With a wave of his hand, the fuse flung Pennywise into the darkness, disappearing from sight.

If one looked closely, they would notice the fuse embedding itself into Pennywise’s head, never loosening even as it exploded and reformed.

Having done all this, the Evil Spirit Du Wei closed his eyes again.

For some reason, there seemed to be a problem with James these past few days.

He had lost contact with James.

He had been trying to reconnect with James’s consciousness in order to utilize this trump card, but he had never succeeded.

It was as if James’s consciousness had suffered a massive trauma.

The Evil Spirit Du Wei was puzzled, “That shouldn’t be… ”

“Has James gotten into trouble with the hunters of the Dusk Bell?”
