Exploring Immortality Cultivation

Chapter 129 - 91: Clothes Bestowed in September

Wang Qi sat on the bed, legs crossed in meditation, silently conducting his Circulation.

But inside his body, it wasn't quiet at all. Now, Wang Qi allowed the flow of Mana to circulate on its own while he concentrated his attention on an Acupoint. Two masses of Mana with distinctly different properties were rampaging within the Acupoint like boiling water. As the two masses of Mana operated, the Acupoint gradually expanded.

Then, Wang Qi heard a roaring sound. He knew this was the sensation of the Acupoint undergoing a qualitative change. Wang Qi hurriedly connected the two masses of Mana with his Spirit Sense. Then, the two masses of Mana quickly calmed down and solidified into a Yin Yang Yao.

The Mana Flow, which had slowed, began to speed up again, regaining its vitality. The newly refined Acupoint, like a reservoir, was quickly filled. Afterward, the Mana flowed normally.

The newly refined Yin Yang Yao, as a new hub, ingested and exuded Mana. Then, like the torrential Great River, the Mana fully penetrated Wang Qi's Meridian.

This Acupoint was the last major one on Wang Qi's Meridian. The solidification of the Yin Yang Yao in this major Acupoint meant that Wang Qi's Meridian was fully open.

Wang Qi did not stop his Cultivation, changing his Hand Mnemonic to start another session of practice.

A type of Mana completely different from the previous now arose from Wang Qi's Dantian, extending and flowing through the entire Meridian. This thread-like Mana, condensed but not released, aimed to connect the Yin Yang Yao within all the Acupoints on Wang Qi's Meridian.

This form of Mana did not originate from the Yao Ding Calculating Scripture, but from the Book of Geometry. The employment of Geometry to connect the Yin Yang Yao was a crucial process in combining the Book of Geometry with the Yao Ding Calculating Scripture to attain the Heavenly Position Technique. Once the Xiangyu Heavenly Position Technique was accomplished, each major channel could be viewed as a variable, a Number Axis, connecting Heaven and Earth, thus constructing a Xiangyu — known on Earth as Hilbert Space.

Two months had passed since the beginning of July, when the monthly test took place, bringing us to mid-September. In these two months, Wang Qi refined Yin Yang Yao at a rate of two to three per day. He had nearly finished refining the main Acupoints of the Extraordinary Meridians in his body.

"Dong... Dong..."

When the melodious sound of the bell rang out, Wang Qi exited his Meditation State and slowly ended his practice.

"Actually, I think it'd be better for you to continue practicing in one go," Zhen Chan said dully from within the Ring.

"Classes are starting."

"You won't listen anyway."

Zhen Chan was speaking the absolute truth. Today's class was about an introduction to Alchemy, and Wang Qi wasn't very interested.

Wang Qi ignored Zhen Chan and began rummaging through a pile of draft papers on his desk.

If Wang Qi had this attitude a year ago, Zhen Chan would have scolded him by now. But since his title as "Mahayana Cultivator" was revoked along with his Phoenix Feather by Modern Cultivators, Zhen Chan had rather adapted to his lesser status. He didn't feel bored and continued, "Sometimes I truly feel that ever since Modern Cultivators made Cultivation into an activity that can be interrupted at any time, the ennui among practitioners is growing daily."

Wang Qi had just cut off the linking of half-finished Spirit Sense, retracting the Mana into his Dantian. In Ancient Method Cultivation, this act would inevitably lead to Deviation. For an Ancient Method Practitioner, once a session of practice began, it could not be stopped; otherwise, their Cultivation would destabilize, and they would suffer a backlash.

"Yeah, but if you couldn't interrupt, then you'd have to go into seclusion for Cultivation, and the more you'd cultivate, the bigger the gap would become between you and your peers," Wang Qi casually replied. "Shut yourself away for a hundred years to master one Divine Skill, and when you emerge, you find that this Great Skill has been optimized a hundred and eighty times by others, its power doubled, and the latest version takes only ten years to master. Wouldn't you be furious?"

Wang Qi spoke of real incidents, and it wasn't a singular case. Two thousand years ago, the Modern System was established. Aside from connecting the Breathing of Heaven and Earth and absorbing nature's spiritual energy, the practices of Modern Cultivators differed little from those of the Ancient Method. Cultivation of the Ancient Method spanned millennia, and Divinity Transformation and Integration with seclusion lasting a century was common. Initially, even Modern Primordial Spirit and Void Refining had experiences with lengthy isolations. However, any Cultivator who secluded themselves for over fifty years would exit their retreat to chest thumping regret — their years of Cultivation amounting to nothing.

The Modern System differed from the Ancient Method. It was constantly evolving. By the time of the Taiyi Heavenly Venerable, Quantum Venerable Master, and Daoist of Uncertainty, a single revelation by a practitioner could elevate the entire Modern System. Modern Cultivators often evolved yearly. At this point, even three to five years of seclusion was considered extravagant.

Hence, today's Modern Cultivators emphasized the ability to interrupt Cultivation at any moment.

After a little while, Wang Qi finally found what he was looking for — a piece of draft paper with pre-written math problems on it. These problems were copied from a collection of exercises in the Immortal Institute's Book Tower; Wang Qi only copied the questions and the answers. He was testing his Cultivation progress.

Looking at the problems, Mana rapidly circulated within Wang Qi's body. As the Mana flowed through the Acupoints, the Yin Yang Yao inside his body began to flicker. Each flicker represented a simple mathematical operation.

Then, Wang Qi wrote down the answers.

Turning the draft paper over, Wang Qi found he had not made any mistakes and nodded, saying, "Not bad, I've surpassed the average computer... although I'm still far from the most advanced supercomputers on Earth."

If the un-Cultivated Wang Qi were doing the calculations, it might have taken hours. But now, he completed them in an instant. This made Wang Qi quite proud of himself; there were many on Earth who could compete with computers in mental arithmetic, most of them being outstanding mathematicians!

With that thought, Wang Qi opened the door, stretched lazily, ready to start a new day of academic life.

A slightly chilly morning breeze brushed past, Wang Qi tightened his clothes without much concern, and muttered as he closed the door, "I need to get some new clothes soon; it's annoying not having a Vestment robe."

Wang Qi had a Vestment robe that could ward off the cold and heat, but it was not of a high grade and was destroyed in a battle two months ago.

After closing his door, Wang Qi headed to the Kitchen. As he entered, the bustling space quieted down a bit. Wang Qi was pleased with this response, feeling it was a form of respect for his academic authority.

However, the quiet only lasted a brief moment. Soon, the Kitchen was alive again with heated discussions.

There was only one topic on everyone's lips — the second floor of the Transmitting Technique Hall.
