Chapter 135 135- Ghost Sect
At the edge of the capital city, where the Ghost Sect existed,
The great hall of the Ghost Sect was unusually bright for the early hour.
Morning mist clung to the edges of the windows, pale light streaming through paper-thin screens, casting shifting shadows across the dark stone floor.
The hall, known for its eerie calm, was instead filled with murmuring voices and shuffling feet.
All the elders had been summoned without explanation, and none of them were pleased.
Elder Mura folded his arms across his chest, his expression lined with impatience. "I already told you last time that I will follow what the sect leader wants. If this is some way to harass us again, I will walk straight out."
"You're not the only one," Elder Yoken muttered, his brows twitching. "We're cultivators, not errand boys. Summoned like this with no word, no reason?"
"Exactly," a deeper voice rumbled from the back. "Dragged from cultivation before sunrise? This is beneath our rank."
"Where's the Vice Sect Leader?" another snapped. "He dares summon us and then doesn't even show his face?"
That was when the doors at the head of the hall opened.
The Vice Sect Leader stepped inside.
Every complaint died mid-breath.
He looked like a ghost — and not the kind that ruled their sect.
Pale, sunken-eyed, his posture rigid from sheer willpower alone.
His robes were wrinkled and dusted with the remnants of travel. His breath came unevenly, but he stood, steady, at the center of the platform.
He lifted one hand.
Silence rippled across the room.
"I know you're all wondering why you were summoned so early," he began, his voice hoarse. "But the message I bear... couldn't wait."
He let his words linger, pressing the weight of them into the silence.
"The Exorcism Sect… has been destroyed."
'!?'
A shockwave passed through the hall — not a physical force, but the kind that shatters expectations.
Whispers exploded almost instantly.
"That's impossible."
"Destroyed? You mean crippled?"
"Are you really sure?"
Elder Hinaz stepped forward, his sharp gaze narrowing. "Is it true? The entire sect?"
The Vice Sect Leader gave a tired nod.
"I personally led the operation," he said. "Alongside the Sect Leader and Princess Aleriana. We infiltrated their sect and killed everyone just a few hours ago."
He paused, letting the weight of the claim sink in. As he knew, most probably, it would be hard for anyone to believe that a sect of so many people could be destroyed in such a short period of time.
He couldn't blame them; even he himself would have doubted if he had heard it from someone else.
Further, he added, given how the elders seemed much quieter, looking towards each other in suspicion, as if not even believing the words of the Vice Sect Leader. "We suffered casualties. But by the end of the night, the Exorcism Sect had lost over five hundred disciples and their Vice Sect Leader. Their core has been severed."
A stunned quiet washed over the elders.
And then, slowly, it shifted.
Expressions began to change. Spines straightened. Pride crept in like warmth after a long winter.
"They're gone…" Elder Mura murmured, half in awe. "Those arrogant bastards. Gone."
"With them out of the way," Elder Yoken chuckled, "the Ghost Sect can finally rise again."
"Hahaha, finally, good news after the Third Elder's death—Ahem, I mean, now I can see the sect's bright future ahead of us."
Laughter, restrained but full of long-held satisfaction, rippled through the crowd.
But one voice still carried doubt.
Elder Shoren remained seated, his gaze fixed on the Vice Sect Leader with sharp, analytical eyes.
"I don't mean disrespect," he said calmly. "Princess Aleriana is formidable. And I would never doubt our Sect Leader's capabilities. But… five hundred disciples? One night? Without exhausting your Qi?"
The room hushed again.
Shoren continued, "Something about this doesn't add up."
The Vice Sect Leader said nothing at first. His eyes scanned the room.
He could see the same doubt on other faces, hidden behind proud smiles and nods.
He closed his eyes for a brief moment, knowing well that they were completely right about how simply being strong doesn't allow them to kill so many individuals in such a short amount of time without exhausting their reserves. Even he fell unconscious and did not witness the whole thing.
Then, slowly, he turned toward the great doors behind him.
They opened.
A soft breeze swept through the chamber, yet it felt like the pressure in the room doubled. Every elder turned.
She entered quietly.
Olea.
Her silver hair shimmered like woven mist, swaying slightly with each step. Her eyes — a piercing, unnatural amethyst — swept across the room with calm authority.
Olea knew that the first thing she needed to do was deal with these elders. Given that her strength already surpassed all of theirs, she let loose her Qi, instantly filling the whole room before the elders could greet her.
The elders stood reflexively, instinct overriding thought.
"Greetings, Sect Leader…" they said in unison — or tried to.
Their voices hesitated, caught somewhere between awe and unease.
They felt it then.
Their Qi… suppressed.
Not violently, but as if an entire mountain now rested above them.
None dared test it.
One by one, the realization struck.
"C-Congratulations…" Elder Mura whispered with his head lowered as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead.
His eyes were completely dilated as he looked toward the table, realizing that all their hopes of switching allegiances to other royal heirs had been completely dashed with this young woman achieving the strength that should have belonged to the Third Elder. "For reaching the Seventh Layer… Sect Leader."
Olea said nothing of the praise, only moved toward the head of the seat given she knew that these people were the same who always voiced out against her, given her strength being either equal or inferior to theirs. Now taking the seat as she did not suppress her energy, letting all of it go rampant in the whole room to establish her dominance.
Her gaze, unreadable, rested on the assembled elders.
"What he told you is true," she said simply. "The Exorcism Sect is no more. The operation was executed by Princess Aleriana and myself."
No sound came, nor was there any retaliation from the elders, who did not dare lift their heads, lest they should ask if it was true.
Just silence.
drip
In the silence of the room, only the sweat beads falling off the foreheads of elders could be heard as Olea sat looking towards each of them while clearly lost in thought about what Kyle had said to her earlier to meet in the morning, as her eyes looked towards the window through which the sun was slowly filtering out of the clouds.
'Should I meet him?' But there was hesitation until suddenly two black fogs burst into the room.
Scrchh
"E-elder! S-sect leader, the Exorcism Sect has been destroyed," the two cloaked figures, with clear gleeful faces under the masks, knowing how crucial this information was to be delivered, barged into the hall without any formality.
But unexpectedly, what they met with was the burst of force, plunging their bodies directly onto the ground, as if a mountain of weight was pressed before the elders. One after another yelled at them.
"How dare you both barge into the hall without our permission!!"
"Did you forget the basic etiquette?"
"Bringing the belated information and even daring to enter the room full of elders and the Sect Leader!"
Almost all the anger concentrated within the elders burst upon those two, clearly making them sweat as their eyes trembled, completely soaked as they were caught out on the floor due to the force of so many elders' internal energy suppressing them as their mouths barely managed to utter some words.
"M...e...r..cy—!" They were about to beg for mercy from the elders, but suddenly they felt the weight pressing on them vanish completely, as if replaced by a protective layer of Qi, allowing them to slowly lift themselves.
Their eyes looked at their hands, given their natural affinity to detect energy signatures; they instantly realized it was the Sect Leader who protected them, before their gaze snapped at her.
"Speak further," Olea said, glaring at the elders who gulped as they turned their gazes away, realizing that the Sect Leader definitely did not like their actions.
Before, Olea focused on the information to know exactly what was circulating around the capital city rather than what she knew.
"S-sect leader, the destroyer of the Exorcism Sect, the Blooddemoness, has declared herself the wife of Kyle Arcutus—"
Before they could complete their words, their eyes saw the Sect Leader snap from her seat, jaws clenched as her body instantly disappeared, vanishing into thin air, leaving behind them confused as to what happened.
"S-sect leader?"
What do you think?
