Chapter 26 - 26- Who is Mia?
"Who is Mia?"
Finally, with the carriage moving towards the inner part of the capital city, I heard Olea inquiring the question.
I thought she would, given I was much clearer about it and took a really big risk there.
After all, provoking a crimson demonic cultivator who could suck away your life any millisecond would even make the strongest ones tremble before even thinking of doing something.
Mialthara was a story which didn’t get that much exposure.
Considering killing so many people and dying by trying a forbidden technique just made the story that had started centuries ago end due to a plot hole.
According to the original plot, everyone thought of Mialthara as the primary villainess or obstacle in the path of major characters.
Somehow, the author thought how he had given her some really overpowered ability where she could suck away anyone’s life.
With not having any ideas in his mind, he killed her while she was performing some forbidden ritual.
Given the aftereffects, she had become super weak and was hunted down by some third-layered assassins.
Even with that big potential value for qualification, which I knew would be the case the moment I entered the outer sector of the capital city, there was that particular woman who had visited once the capital city at the same time when Leon had entered.
While there was not much conversation between them, there was a slight mention in the storyline about a mysterious woman selling some flowers, looking towards the carriage.
Before, with a smirk, she shook her head.
It was simply a thing mentioned.
Then afterwards, in the very latter part of the story, it was revealed how she had seen Kyle Arcutus entering the capital city, went in a flower shop, making me cross much of the points and, from that old woman’s body language, realize that indeed it was the case and she was Mialthara.
And the reason I tried to provoke her peaceful time was simply because...
"Mialthara." I have only called out that name.
’!?’
"What?"
There was a visible hint of pupil tremble in Olea’s eyes, as that name simply shook her.
She seemed to be taken by surprise, given it didn’t take her long to recall the history attached to that name and her head turned in the direction that had already been left behind before narrowing her gaze.
"Was that old woman?"
The moment she uttered those words, it clearly showed her intellect to observe the situation.
Considering she had not sensed any cultivation strength from that old woman, her reaction when I asked about Mia made her suspicious that maybe that old woman was indeed Mialthara.
"Yes," I replied with a calm nod, folding my hands and closing my eyes as if casual about the mention.
I didn’t want to show how satisfied I was with the things going in the direction I wanted.
"What do you want from me?"
Those words caused my one eye to open, looking towards her, only to notice those eyes which were ignoring me until now.
They were simply cold as she seemed to understand the reason why I told her about the identity of that old woman having some ulterior motives.
Naturally, she, whose interest was more in killing me, would want nothing but to try to confirm if I had some hidden weapons.
Given how casually I asked that old woman about Mia, it definitely made Olea think that I had some kind of previous relation with that woman.
Killing me would give a slight hassle, but it wouldn’t prevent her from doing that.
Not that I wanted to solve this killing problem by using some fake name of a century old demoness, who would not even come to protect me.
So, I directly came to my present move: "I want the princess to add that woman into her legion."
The suspicious narrowed gaze from Olea clearly seemed suspicious regarding why I would want the princess to be aware of Mialthara’s presence.
Of course, to have all my wives should be in a single place and have a happy family bonding.
Not that I could say that loud, so suppressing my desire to show how caring I was for my family, I stated, "I know the princess’s motives, so the least I could do is pursue my husbandly duties to assure her well-being after my absence."
I feel tightness in my throat after uttering those cringe words.
".....foolish." Olea’s words were straightforward and clearly like an arrow piercing my chest, seeing how heartless these women were.
Naturally, if this were a romance novel, they would have appreciated me falling head over heels for them, but here they considered me a fool.
From her face, looking at me with those narrowed eyes, with expression hidden behind the mask, I could clearly see the thought that she was considering me among the worthless simps who think that by sacrificing themselves for the sake of love, they are going to change everything.
In this world, love was not a priority to anyone, but immortality was.
So, hearing how, even after knowing that the princess would most probably kill me after the marriage, I was acting like some simp to sacrifice myself, Olea’s reaction clearly was justified.
Given normally, I should instead of coming here, make some plans to save myself.
And that’s exactly what Kyle did by sending Leon instead.
But I couldn’t do that.
Running away from plots instead of becoming stronger would only delay my death.
So taking the risk was more crucial for me this time, and who fears death when it’s not even ending for me?
But whatever, my words didn’t end here, given I needed to have some competition between my potential wives.
"At least this was what I thought initially, but now, I would like if you can add her to the ghost sect rather than handing her over to the princess," I suggested.
I knew well that this woman was only with the princess due to having similar interests and not the least being loyal.
So wouldn’t it be good if she informed the princess of all those things I had said until now and would say in the future, where this information would make the princess understand that I had fallen in love with only Olea?
Of course, no one is going to feel jealous here.
Instead, most probably, they all would consider me a stupid dumb sacrificial lamb only acting like one, and most probably forget me the moment I became dead.
But in this short moment of time, I should at least provide them with a reason to love me back.
"....Why me?"
Olea inquired with that same suspicious gaze which she had given several times, as if trying to see through me.
Since I made sure to confuse her with my words earlier, where she assumed that I had fallen for her while also appearing dumb enough, I was speaking those things which didn’t have an impact on her and would most probably not change her opinion of killing me.
To have more information which she could share with the princess, in hope of gaining her favor, she wanted to extract more information out of me.
Not that I didn’t want to give her the information.
Prompted, I added, "I must say that Lady Olea is not that smart, as rumors say, to not even see that I have fallen for you."
"...."
What do you think?
