Chapter 32 - Stupid Host?
"Husband?" Olea heard that confusing tone from the Princess’ narrative.
She was clearly not expecting her to mention it in such a way, especially when it was known to everyone that she wanted the Ducal Prince dead after her marriage.
"Of course, he will be my husband," the Princess raised an eyebrow, giving a confused look to Olea.
Aleriana could see how this might seem to everyone, where they found her image of a frugal princess and a cruel woman who once wanted her husband dead much more appealing to the eyes.
But what could she do?
She herself needed to survive in this world and claim what should have rightfully belonged to her mother and her.
So, to claim the throne, she needed steps, and the easiest step was to get the Northern Territory.
There was another thing: to get complete hold of it, she either needed permission from her husband or to get rid of him.
Among those two options, what she found much easier was the latter one.
After all, no matter what, it was clear that whoever was close to her would meet with assassination attempts without her intervention.
So, why not use this as a sense for her favor, to not stain her own hands with her husband’s blood?
There was a reason why she offered Olea the priority to kill him.
Even without her, she was only planning to use assassins indirectly—not to dirty her hands due to the teachings of her mother.
Until the end, even when betrayed, her mother did not kill the king and was taught not to harm her husband as part of the traditional teachings passed down in her family.
On one hand, she needed to uphold her mother’s values, and on the other, she needed to climb the stairs of the kingdom’s throne.
So, it was better to let the flow continue and have her husband snatched away from her by these cruel people whom she had indirectly arranged.
"....I don’t understand you, Princess," Olea found it confusing.
Given how princes could have chosen so many individuals, the last choice was a ducal prince who was banished outside the major central plain towards the Northern borders.
She was clearly avoiding those who had some families or loved ones near them.
This clearly showed a rather hidden side of the princess, but at the same time, her cruel nature was revealed.
She had given the opportunity to kill her husband on the same wedding day before the night ritual of newlyweds occurred.
Either way, she was hiding something from her or was using her for some of her motives.
Whatever it was, Olea was getting the chance to kill a member of the Arcutus family; that was all there was to it.
Olea would kill him before he got the chance to enter the bride chamber and secure her side of the deal to exchange support for the princess one time.
"Wouldn’t it present me on a weaker side if others started to see through me?"
The Princess stated, as her ears caught the sound of horses galloping in the carriage trailing towards the palace.
Given her strength, she moved towards the window with a smile forming as she looked towards the metal gate, only to find a man exiting the carriage.
"...."
Olea could not say anything except look towards the princess, who was, in truth, confusing to understand.
Given that she was referring to that man as her husband while simultaneously being determined to kill him prompted her to just disappear from there into hiding.
With her words left behind, she said, "I will wait for your offer in exchange for the address, Princess, given he will not tell you anything."

’Finally’, Exiting the carriage, I stepped out, jumping out of the garage before stretching my body.
Given this was from where I was going to get rid of my first red flag, I was yet not sure if things would go in a proper direction.
Due to Leon not being a major character, the story was more like mentions of his interactions with major characters, like the princess.
It all ended with his death at the hands of Olea, who killed him after marrying the princess in the same corridor that led toward the bride chamber.
The book, in particular, was abandoned by many initial readers due to the author’s confusing announcement.
He mentioned out of the blue how the princess seemed to wake up the next morning with her eyes slightly exhausted, as if she hadn’t slept all night, and had a hint of redness— which just broke her image as the cold character.
Exactly that day was also the death anniversary of her mother, which would be tomorrow exactly.
Readers initially assumed that maybe she was crying in grief for her mother, but the author made a stupid announcement that she was not saddened by her mother’s death but by the death of her husband.
Like hell, dude, she was the one who killed him to begin with—not with her hands, yet it was already evident from all the planning she did.
Ruining the image of a character which readers build in their mind is one of the biggest mistakes someone could make.
:: Can I get a piece? ::
’No?’ Taking another bite of molded bread, I looked towards the small black self-proclaimed fairy sitting on my shoulder, asking for the bread which a moment ago she declared as poop.
Indeed, I, being a gentleman, offered her if she wanted to eat the mold of this bread.
But she called it poop, leading me to just throw the molded bread into my own own stomach.
Getting diarrhea was better than having an empty stomach.
"Greeting, Master Kyle, please this way," a maid’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
She seemed to arrive here after being called by this guard, making me notice earlier how he went to inform the inner guard and then proceeded to inform the maid, with none of the guards having a chance to interact with the princess.
This just showed how shrewd she was with her strategies, using those who came to spy on her as doorsteps with others who had potential chances of betrayal acting like guards, and lastly, the loyal ones as the maids.
"I see," I just gave a nod, considering either way I need to move forward.
I just can’t run away from here with our marriage ceremony being tomorrow.
I would have at least time to sleep peacefully for today, but I would try during this time to somehow avoid a scene where I get forced to kill Olea to save myself.
In this world, my priorities were always to be in the places or choosing the characters whom I was familiar with, rather than someone stranger, given I knew to what limits they could fall.
’This?’ With my eyes observing around the garden, which was not that well managed, my gaze landed for a moment on one of the windows inside the mansion.
I found a hovering window levitating in mid-air, but given the letters were small and the window hovered far away from me, I wasn’t able to read the exact values.
But I could guess that it was Princess Aleriana’s stats, with her being the only one probably present near the window.
Looking there for a moment, I just inquired, ’Check her qualifications.’
After all, I was naturally going to marry her, and by using the marriage ceremony, maybe I would be able to increase my domain range.
[ Qualification: 93/100 ]
’You are stupid, System.’
[ And you are my host.]
What do you think?
