Extra's POV: My Obsessive Villainous Fiancee Is The Game's Final Boss

Chapter 184 184: Shivering Tree

As soon as they pressed their hands against the bark of the Shivering Tree, the vibrations of the tree passed through their bodies, creating a resonance, and their consciousness snapped.

Unlike what one would think, it wasn't actually painful. It was warm, inviting, like sinking into a memory of sunlight and still water.

Their vision faded, not into darkness, but into light. Soft and golden light, like dawn breaking through fog.

When they opened their eyes again, they stood not in the courtyard of the Church, but in the most beautiful garden that ever existed.

The air was filled with music. There were no words, and the sounds were from no known instruments, but the music flowed directly to their souls, making it shine even brighter. A slight sense of euphoria passed through them.

In every direction visible to the eyes through the tall trees were flowers, which bloomed in impossible colors. Birds with shiny and radiant plumage, some made of fire and water, flitted through the air, leaving iridescent sparks as they passed.

Lilith exhaled in wonder, tears coming to her eyes as emotions rushed into her, filling the spaces that had been chipped away by Soul Dominion. Ren didn't even notice as he kept turning in place, drinking in the peace that just seemed to be in the very air.

"Welcome."

Their heads snapped to the side to see Father Francis. The man stood there, now wearing radiant white robes and walking toward them on a path of silver stone.

Ren and Lilith turned to him, wondering where both him and the path had come from. It hadn't been there a moment ago. They looked down to see that they were somehow now on the path.

"I know you're wondering where we are." Father Francis said, smiling softly. "This is a glimpse of paradise. A sliver of the Creator's realm, offered to those worthy of the Chosen title. This garden is not real, but it is true."

He turned, gesturing for them to follow. They walked behind him on the path, the trees rising tall on either side, and a glorious flowery scent tickling their noses. If one could describe it, it would be called Divine.

"This is what we fight for." Father Francis continued. "Not just to protect the weak, but to uphold the sanctity of what the Creator has promised us. The paradise made real. In this place, there is no fear. No doubt. Only harmony."

They walked until they got to a fountain. The basin gleamed with its own light, looking as if it had been carved from a single giant glowing crystal, water spilling over its sides in gentle waves. The sound was like laughter and wind, like comfort in liquid form.

Father Francis turned to them. "Drink." He gestured to the fountain. "Think of one another. Think of what you wish to become. Let your Resonance take form."

Ren and Lilith exchanged a look, then stepped forward.

Ren cupped the water in his hands and brought it to his lips. It tasted like memory.

Like playing video games in a dark room with a blanket wrapped around him as the rain pattered on the window. Like holding Lilith's hand as they took a walk, speaking of everything and nothing at the same time.

Lilith drank beside him, her eyes never leaving his.

The moment the water touched their tongues, energy exploded through their bodies. It wasn't violent. It had a purpose of its own.

Their bodies hummed in sync, invisible threads weaving through them.

Ren felt it. The Push. A force within him, not to break or destroy, but to move, to direct, to control distance and momentum. It vibrated within him like the strings of a guitar.

Lilith's Pull met his perfectly. She felt like gravity bending toward a star, like a connection pulling towards his very soul.

They had started unconsciously building a loop, their Push and Pull resonating with each other, creating waves of action and reaction.

It was like two puzzle pieces snapping in place to create a flawless pairing. It was glorious. It was complete. It was… perfect.

Then the air changed.

Pressure descended over the garden, feeling like the sky itself was pressing against them. Father Francis had revealed a part of his own loop.

Ren and Lilith staggered back as their loop shattered. It felt like losing a part of them that they'd never known they had.

The garden around them dissolved in an instant.

Ren and Lilith blinked, gasping slightly as they returned to the courtyard of the Church. Their hands were still on the Shivering Tree, but now, the resonance within them had solidified.

Push and Pull.

With eyes still shining, they removed their hands and stepped back, joining the others in the line of newly bonded Chosen.

Father Francis followed their movement with his eyes before turning back to the remaining aspirants. "You two." He chose. "Come forward."

Ren's hand found Lilith and they held themselves, watching the rest of the trial. They could feel the way their bodies vibrated in sync. A subtle vibration that could not be seen with the naked eyes but could be felt by each pair.

Their bodies kept unconsciously reaching out, trying to create a loop, but it kept shattering before it even started, the loops around them disrupting each other.

When they grow more familiar with their resonances, they'll be able to create loops even in the midst of other Chosen.

After a few more minutes, the trial was over. All the aspirants had become chosen.

"Congratulations." Father Francis stepped away from the Shivering Tree to stand in front of them. "You have all touched the Tree, faced your fear, and come out of it the way you were meant to be."

"You are no longer aspirants. You are Chosen." He nodded proudly. "Chosen not only by the Church, but by the Creator's will, through his resonance."

"Today, you take your place in our order. You will protect, you will endure, and you will be remembered."

He gestured toward the door leading away. "Come now, children of the Shivering Tree. Let us return to the house of worship, where you will take the Oath of White and bind yourselves in purpose everlasting."
