Chapter 55: The Three Musketeers 1
Would Instructor Ren give her the key?
Xie Wanying was no haughty princess; she never believed she had much of a reputation, so she frankly answered, “Impossible.”
Her answer came as no surprise to Zhao Zhaowei and the others, who, after a brief conversation, could tell that she was very cautious in her actions and speech, quite unlike other girls her age.
“It’s ok, if you happen to run into Instructor Ren, you can make a joke with him. Despite his serious expression, he can be quite witty. You might even bump into The Three Musketeers,” said Zhao Zhaowei.
What are The Three Musketeers?
“The Three Musketeers refer to Ren Chongda, Zhu Huicang, and our school’s most famous Cao Yong, Handsome Cao.”
The moment the name Cao Yong entered her ears, Xie Wanying’s mind conjured the image of the handsome figure she had seen in her aunt’s hospital emergency room that night. “I’ve heard Handsome Cao is really amazing,” Feng Yicong asked Zhao Zhaowei if the rumors were true.
“He is amazing, a super scholar back in university and later sent by the school for an oversea scholarship program. Upon returning, he went straight into neurosurgery. Neurosurgery is a rising field in our domestic medical community, needing to leverage latecomer advantages. Many privately say, in the future, the head of our hospital could very well be Handsome Cao.”
Zhao Zhaowei’s gossipy tone immediately drew immense attention from the surrounding students.
An older student who could potentially become a hospital dean; everyone would think of ingratiating themselves with him.
“How can we meet Handsome Cao?” Feng Yicong and others asked enthusiastically.
“Instructor Ren and Handsome Cao are good friends; they occasionally dine in the alley connecting our college and the hospital. If you run into him, it’s always right to go up and say hello,” Zhao Zhaowei suggested to his classmates. “If you’re lucky and he remembers you, there shouldn’t be any problems with your internship or even staying to work at the affiliated hospital in the future.”
Hearing this, Xie Wanying and others realized that even for the eight-year program, graduating and staying to work at the affiliated hospital was no longer easy.
Guoxie is the highest medical sanctuary in the nation, and Guoxie Association Hospital is the most renowned top-tier comprehensive hospital in the country, known in the medical circle as the last straw for patients. It’s a place where only the most elite medical graduates can stay. @@novelbin@@
Some students received a message from the class monitor on their phones, informing the others, “The monitor said we’re going to get our military training uniforms, and that there’s a queue, so he can’t come back quickly. Everyone should head back to the dorms; he will deliver them this afternoon or tonight.”
What a nice class monitor! They all shouted in agreement.
Seeing the phone reminded Xie Wanying to call her mom. She asked Zhao Zhaowei, “Where can I make a cheap phone call?”
“You’re new so you wouldn’t know. Let me tell you, first you should buy an IC card, much cheaper than from convenience stores or supermarkets if you buy it on the street where we go to eat. Then at night, you use it at the IC card phone in the hospital. There are no patients in outpatient care at night, no queues, it’s better than the phone booths outside,” he explained.
“Xie Xie,” she said.
Afterwards, like the rest of her classmates, Xie Wanying headed back to her dormitory. Looking up at the two empty beds that no one had slept in, she suddenly realized what was going on.
She shared a dormitory with two senior female students who were on clinical internship and would not return to the dorm.
Touching the mosquito netting that the seniors had hung, the dust was plentiful, showing just how busy medical students entering clinical training could be.
With no roommates to dine with, Xie Wanying would take her meals back to the dorm to eat. After sleeping in the afternoon, she found time in the evening to visit the affiliated hospital, exploring and making a call home.
What do you think?
