Chapter 204: Alex’s Plan, Opening Chests!
Alex and Tereza stare at Rishi, waiting for his answer. He just shrugs.
“Can’t tell you anything,” he says. “I’m sure a few of them held back useful information, but if you expect me to tell you exactly who the traitors are, you’ll be disappointed.”
Rishi sits down, and Alex and Tereza follow suit.
“Huh? You know, I would have accepted that answer back in the Purge world,” Tereza says, crossing her arms, “but we know about your innate skill now! How couldn’t you notice, huh? What happened to you seeing through the damn Mutated Matriarch yesterday? This doesn’t make any sense!”
I can’t say I disagree with her… My views are strangely compatible with Tereza’s, at least on these issues, I tend to agree with her.
“So you got nothing? I thought I gave you a good enough opportunity to gauge their responses,” Alex says.
“You did completely fine, Alex. In fact, you impressed me quite a bit. I’m guessing the other teams were impressed too,” Rishi says. “You came across as smart, reasonable, diplomatic—someone who can get along with everyone. And you kept your cool, even when dealing with such a… unique person. One of the military guys couldn’t even take it anymore, but you handled it just fine.”
“If we end up teaming up with any of them, you’ll probably be chosen as the leader.” Rishi leans back. “Anyway, none of that changes the fact that I got nothing useful out of it.”
“I guess if contracts don’t work, it makes sense that the traitors have some sort of protection against your ability,” Alex says. “Anyway, what’s your general impression of them? I personally used Gyo and got some useful info. Not a single team has strong physical fighters except the Military Team, which is fully focused on physical stats. I have enough comparisons to roughly analyze players by now. Even the strongest members of the other three teams only had slightly above average physical stats, maybe around 10, might be even lower. Meaning…”
“That me and you could wipe the floor with them in seconds, assuming we’re not bound, affected, or controlled by spells and abilities,” Tereza says with a huge grin.
“Exactly. I don’t see how they could be a threat to us,” Alex agrees. “The Military guys, though? They’re all strong—especially their leader, Ben. I’m guessing SNS and AGI are at least 10, probably closer to 15. PHY and STR? At least 20.”
“You’re already that accurate with your Gyo, Alex?” Rishi asks, raising an eyebrow.
“I’m certain about PHY and STR. Those are the easiest to detect. AGI—I’m fairly confident. SNS, though, involves a lot more guesswork. But I’m at least somewhat sure. Of course, that includes bonuses from their items. I can only gauge the current stats they’re displaying, and I could be slightly off. Plus, there are definitely skills or items that can hide certain things, including stats.”
“Your Nen abilities are impressive,” Rishi says, nodding in approval. “You’re learning to go beyond the System, making the ability your own.”
“My own opinion?” He pauses for a moment, thinking, and finally stating: “They’re all formidable. They’re hiding their true abilities and personalities well, especially the two female-led teams. The youth team seems weak… I guess you could say I have slight suspicions about them, especially because the meeting happened on their initiative. A raid on the nest would benefit the traitors the most… if they even exist.”
“Too bad they didn’t tell us their last names. If we ever got into a real emergency, I could have added their names to my special book,” Rishi says and smirks slightly, his grin quite scary.
Scary. I didn’t even think about that… We need a way to get their names.
“Anyway, what are we doing now? Heading back to the forest?” Tereza asks.
I have some ideas, but I won’t force them on everyone. This whole meeting was under my control anyway.
Tereza looks at Alex, clearly expecting him to make the call.
“Alex, just say what you think,” Rishi says. “In the end, you’re reliable. Even deep inside the nest, when you talked about my Aura reading… Even I didn’t expect the Matriarch’s ‘gift’ to be the execution of our traitorous teammates. I could barely sleep last night, I wasn’t prepared for something like that. It was my mistake. I’ll learn from it.”
“But you? You actually predicted it. And because I didn’t… I feel like I failed us.”
Rishi still maintains his neutral expression, but Alex can see it—there’s a hint of disappointment on his face.
“Calm down, Rishi! I didn’t predict that either, I just had a bad feeling, probably because I was freaked out. The end result was what you predicted. It turned out fine, while I probably would’ve fled way too soon. I wouldn’t have even gotten my future pet,” Alex says, refusing to take credit for his actions in the cave.
He slowly takes out his egg, feeding it a few more drops of blood. He kisses it, then holds it tightly while sitting on the couch.
“Anyway, if you have any suggestions, share them with us. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what we should do next either, so why don’t you go first?” Rishi suggests.
“Yeah, go ahead, Alex. I trust you,” Tereza says, surprisingly serious and without her usual teasing. Her brown eyes lock onto Alex, and he feels a warm sense of reassurance in his chest.
It feels good to be trusted by my friends.
“I have two ideas. I’m sure you’ve thought of them too, Rishi, but I’ll go first,” Alex says. “First, we should open the chests we collected. In fact, you should let me open them. My LUK when opening chests is… quite good.”
“I think it makes sense to open them now since we’ll be stuck in this world for a long time. Plus, I have a feeling we’ll get a certain Essence…” Alex hints.@@novelbin@@
“A certain [Essence of Corruption] that we don’t even have a use for yet, right?” Rishi finishes his thought for Alex.
Alex nods, confirming Rishi’s guess. “Yeah. After opening the chests, I’d say we focus on our quest we received after cleansing the nest. Dumbledore was a bust, but he basically handed us the answer, the Centaurs.
“Their camp is far from the Acromantula Nest, so we won’t be in immediate danger. I think they’ll have valuable information about the forest’s condition, and we can progress our quest at the same time. Maybe they even know something about the [Essence of Corruption]. As far as I remember, Centaurs are the guardians of the forest. They’re smart and, more importantly, reasonable.”
Tereza smiles. “See? That’s already a solid plan. Good job, Alex.”
Alex continues sharing his thoughts:
“There are plenty of other things we can do in the castle—probably dozens of hidden and side quests tied to various characters and secret locations. Same with Hogsmeade. There are definitely NPCs who’ll give us side quests there.
“But I think the Centaurs play a vital role in this scenario, so we should prioritize them. After that, we should focus on daily grinding in the forest and searching for side quests, hidden quests, and any unusual locations in both the castle and the village.
“It might also be worth exploring the area around Hogwarts. I’m curious about the hamlets from Hogwarts Legacy—whether they still exist. The mission parameters included a set of ???, which could refer to the graveyard, but it might also mean the surrounding area.”
“Tereza, I think you should fly around when you get the chance. You can cloak yourself and freely explore from the air. You’re also insanely fast in your bat form,” Alex suggests
Tereza nods. “I’ll do that when I have the chance! Now here, take our chests. You have 9 White Chests and 1 Blue Chest to open. The White Chests will probably be garbage… Essences are the only useful thing we can hope for.”
She and Rishi hand over their collected chests.
Alex opens all 9 White-quality Chests, his heart beating a little faster.
The thrill of opening chests never gets old!

Alex manages to obtain a total of 6 [Essence of Corruption], 12,000 FC, and,
to his absolute delight, two Light Blue items!
“Wow, you definitely got something good. I can see it on your face! What is it?! Share the details now!” Tereza demands, her excitement for loot and treasure shining through.
Alex quickly scans the items, then looks up at Rishi and Tereza in shock.
“These items… they’re almost tailor-made for you two. This LUK is insane—it’s actually scary! And these were just from White Chests….”
He pauses before making his decision.
“I’ll keep the FC and two Essences, and you each get two Essences and one item,” Alex says, leaving no room for argument.
Neither Rishi nor Tereza even thinks of protesting; they trust his judgment completely.
[Wolf’s Persistence]
World: Harry Potter / Wizarding World
Quality: Light Blue
Type: Ring
Required Stats: SPR - 15
Effect 1: Decreases Stamina consumption by 5%
Effect 2: Persistence - Increases Max Stamina by 5% and Stamina Regeneration by 5%
Note: The essence of a wolf, forcefully raised to its absolute limits and condensed into a ring. It requires a high SPR to be worn.
[Howling Fang]
World: Harry Potter / Wizarding World
Quality: Light Blue
Type: Trinket
Required Stats: PHY - 8, AGI - 8, SNS - 8, STR - 8
Effect 1: Increases effectiveness of voice attacks by 10%
Effect 2: Enhances your voice attacks so they have a small chance to fear enemies, making them panic and unable to make rational decisions
Note: The essence of a wolf, forcefully raised to its absolute limits and condensed into a fang.
Alex shares the two items, leaving his teammates stunned.
“Your LUK is indeed godly, Alex. These items are perfectly suited for each of us. I’d almost call this cheating, but these are natural characteristics of wolves, so it’s just extreme luck that we received exactly one related to stamina and one enhancing voice-related abilities.
“The ring is perfect for me. It compensates for my weak PHY, boosting my stamina. With the shirt you gave me, I already have a total of 10% decrease in stamina consumption. Add to that 5% more max stamina and 5% increased regeneration, and my main weakness is somewhat covered. I’ll still need to improve my PHY through items, but once I get a few points from gear, I won’t drag you guys down anymore,” Rishi says, studying the ring with a rare smile. He seems to appreciate its savage form and bone-like color, reminiscent of a wolf’s remains.
“I love this trinket! I didn’t even have one yet, and this is just perfect for me. Thank you!” Tereza says happily. She snatches up the trinket, equips it, and immediately plants a wet kiss on Alex’s cheek.
This is awkward. Hopefully, Rishi isn’t getting jealous. That could destroy our teamwork… This needs to stop. I better talk to Rishi about it once Tereza is gone.
Anyway, there’s still one chest left! Let’s open the Blue-quality chest and see what’s inside!
What do you think?
