Chapter 220: What Should I Do? Addicted to Danger, Spike in Power

As Alex and Hagrid leave the Potions classroom, Hagrid remembers that he needs to prepare for his own class and quickly excuses himself. “Sorry, lad, I need to get my class ready!” he says before hurrying off, leaving Alex alone.

Alex, somewhat surprised, finds himself wandering aimlessly through the castle.

What should I do? I guess I can explore! Not that I’ll find much, since we’ve already searched for the most important things when we arrived. Should I go to the Herbology classroom and try to steal a bunch of stuff? That would’ve been my typical approach, but why do I feel reluctant to do that now? I guess I’ve really changed a little. I’m not as petty as before.

Alex slowly walks through the castle, spending hours exploring its most iconic places. He visits the grand staircase, the entrances to the different common rooms (though he doesn’t try to go inside), and the Great Hall. He also checks out the Greenhouses but doesn’t attempt to take anything, not that he notices anything of particular value since most places are locked up. He visits the Astronomy Tower, the front of the Owlery, and the Quidditch field, taking the time to enjoy the beauty of this magical world for once.

Alex checks his [Destiny Watch] and notices it’s only 1 PM. He’s inside this magical world, but for some reason, he feels restless, unsure of what to do. He knows millions of people would probably kill for the opportunity to visit this place, but now Alex feels he’s changed.

Deep down… there’s only one thing I want to do right now… Let’s do it!

Alex slowly walks back to Hagrid’s hut, passing right by it. He approaches the Dark Forbidden Forest and steps inside without hesitation. Using Gyo, he focuses his Aura into his eyes and tries to walk toward where the corruption is the thickest.

It takes Alex half an hour to finally spot a large patch of corruption within the treetops. Used to spotting Acromantulas, he quickly identifies his target and notices with glee that the spider has also spotted him. It’s silently lowering itself from the tree using its web, preparing to ambush him from above.

Alex smiles, his whole body trembling slightly with anticipation as he pulls out [Magoroth’s Legacy (Damaged)]. Despite never having used it before, Alex feels as though he’s shot tens of thousands of arrows recently—clearly, his Imbuement Archery lvl 4 is working.

Let’s start simple for now!

Alex conjures just a single Magorian’s Rage Arrow lvl 4, spending less than a single point of Aura. A sturdy, savage-looking arrow with a broadhead appears in his hand.

Without even aiming, just as he did when he first arrived in the world of One Piece—Alex jumps back slightly as the spider descends above him. He immediately shoots the arrow toward the spider’s head, using an enormous amount of Aura to additionally enhance the arrow with Gyo and Shu. He also applies a thin layer of In, turning the arrow invisible.

The Corrupted Acromantula, thanks to its inborn senses, barely manages to react, avoiding a direct hit to its head. However, the arrow strikes its body, piercing so deeply that it disappears entirely into the creature. The spider crashes to the ground, writhing in pain.

You have dealt 89 damage to Acromantula

Heh! This thing’s not even armored. The arrow just pierced it like butter.

Alex immediately conjures another arrow. This time, he tries to cast Blizzard Sword lvl 4, but instead of applying it to his sword as usual, he attempts to imbue the arrow with it. He feels his Imbuement Archery lvl 4 silently supporting him as the arrow glows with a blue gleam, clearly working. His [Nimbus Cloak] also activates, increasing Alex’s movement speed and evasion.

[Nimbus Cloak effect activates - Increasing Evasion by 5%, and Movement Speed by 40%]

The Frozen Arrow—this time without any additional Aura, just enhanced with Alex’s Blizzard Sword lvl 4 skill, which he now calls Blizzard Arrow lvl 4 for simplicity—flies toward the wounded Acromantula. The creature is still screaming on the ground, clearly suffering from the first Shu

-enhanced arrow.

You have dealt 58 + 52 = 110 damage to Acromantula

You have slowed Acromantula

You have frozen Acromantul.

Looks like my LUK is at work… now for the final test!

Alex conjures another Magorian’s Rage Arrow lvl 4, this time activating its Rage Illusion effect once, for a total Aura cost of slightly less than 3. On top of that, he applies Shu and uses his new Fire Arrow lvl 4.

As he fires the arrow toward the still-frozen Acromantula, a loud boom echoes through the forest. The arrow magically generates five more arrows around it.

Four arrows, including the most powerful original one, hit the Acromantula. Despite the randomness of the appearing arrows, it’s as if they have a will of their own, homing in on the Acromantula.

You have dealt 78 + 72 = 150 Damage to Acromantula

You have killed Acromantula

Enemy already dead, no damage dealt

Enemy already dead, no damage dealt

The first arrow kills the Acromantula, and the three Rage Illusions, which deal 50% of the damage, aren’t even needed but still mercilessly pierce the Acromantula’s body.

Alex looks at the burning Acromantula with a smile on his face. However, he quickly dashes toward it and kicks it to extinguish the fire. This time, Alex butchers the Acromantula on the spot using his [Butchering Knife], making sure to collect the valuable [Acromantula Poison]

and the [Gem of Corruption].

So easy… I can’t believe it! Against unarmored enemies, I’m… invincible!

Alex moves on. To his surprise, he finds a dense patch of corruption in a particularly dark part of the forest. He notes three Acromantulas together, slowly crawling toward him until they’re directly above him again.

Hehe, now it’s time for a challenge!

Alex grabs three Annihilation Grenades lvl 4, which he dutifully conjures every morning. Their base duration is already 9 hours, and with the additional Aura he spends, they now last almost two days. He uses In and chooses a longer fuse length than usual. Without making any large motions, he throws them straight into the air, not even looking in the direction he’s throwing them.

He quickly conjures a Magorian’s Rage Arrow lvl 4, spending 10 additional Aura to activate five Rage Illusion stacks. The arrow contains a large amount of Aura, looking both mysterious and deadly at the same time.

Alex also casts Fire Arrow lvl 4 and applies Shu, purposely not using In so he can view it in its full glory.

The giant Acromantulas lower themselves, and Alex smiles as his grenades are about to explode. He finally aims his bow upward, revealing that he knows about them, and unleashes his arrow!

The arrow flies with great speed toward the spiders, and suddenly, five loud booms echo through the forest like a chain of explosions. One Aura-infused Fire Arrow lvl 4 turns into 26!

A storm of burning, fiery red arrows appears alongside the explosion sounds, creating a scene that can only be described as a slaughter. The arrows pierce into the surprised Acromantulas, and the grenades explode as well. A large space above Alex is dyed in a fiery red color, the sound of explosions and his arrows like a loud train that has suddenly arrived.

The spiders only manage to shriek just once before the explosions subside.

Alex pulls out his [Sword of Pluto], intending to fight the wounded Acromantulas, only to look in shock at his combat logs.

You have dealt 76 + 70 = 146 Damage to Acromantula

You have dealt 74 Damage to Acromantula

You have dealt 68 Damage to Acromantula

You have dealt 69 Damage to Acromantula

You have dealt 72 Damage to Acromantula

You have dealt 73 Damage to Acromantula

You have killed Acromantula

You have killed Acromantula

You have killed Acromantula

Alex notes that the Rage Illusions of his arrows deal a flat amount of damage, not displaying the Physical and Magical damage parts of his Magic Sword skill. The damage from his Fire Arrow lvl 4 has already been added together when calculating the Rage Illusion arrow damage. To his total shock, the grenades did almost nothing. They just finished off two of the Acromantulas that were already close to death, while one Acromantula died outright to his arrows.

This bow… this ability… this combination. These arrows are almost aiming by themselves! I just have to aim them in the general vicinity of my enemies, and they do the rest. Also, these unarmored spiders are weak to fire; this is almost like cheating. I could kill dozens of them! They’re not even a tiny challenge! I can’t believe this.

Ignoring the blazing inferno around him, a few trees and bushes burning brightly, Alex quickly moves on after gathering whatever he can find of the slaughtered Acromantulas, thankfully managing to grab the [Gem of Corruption] and the [Acromantula Poison] of each slain Acromantula.

He continues to hunt, killing another six lone Acromantulas, but he looks at his status with sadness.

Alex Kerber: Lvl 4

HP: 252/252, MP: 21/212, AURA: 12/192

It’s only my AURA and MP limiting me! I killed 10 of them by myself, but I’m drained. I could recover MP with items, but my AURA is nearly spent, this will be a problem, especially if I constantly use Gyo and In to scout, Shu to enhance my arrows, and Ren to strengthen my body during battles. Of course, the arrows and the Rage Illusions also quickly drain my AURA.

Anyway, I’m more than happy with these results! This wasn’t even a challenge; it was a fun, enjoyable hunt!

Alex smiles as he walks out of the Forbidden Forest with 10 [Gem of Corruption], 10 [Acromantula Poison], and the mangled corpses of his slain foes. To his slight annoyance, like last time, the Corrupted Acromantulas do not drop chests but always drop a [Gem of Corruption] and have a portion of [Acromantula Poison] ready to loot, a guaranteed source of income without the chance for a huge windfall.
